Afternoon bullets..

  • I love the white cheddar mac & cheese from Panera. Mac & cheese is probably one of my absolute favorite comfort foods. Theirs is definitely awesome. Not as good as my homemade stuff but I don't have much free time for cooking so it hits the spot when I'm craving something delicious and comforting.

  • I'm excited. Next month, I get to do my first market experience. Near where I work, they do an "open market" thing on weekends where you can rent a booth and try to sell your products. I'll be in the food section selling awesome cupcakes. :)

  • I might need help for my addiction to smoothies. Luckily, that's better than a chocolate addiction or a milkshake addiction. It makes sense that as much as I love fruits and yogurt that smoothies would be something I can't get enough of, haha.

  • I've had three regular customers ask me out on a date this year. Two in January and another today. I hate that being nice and polite so often gets confused with flirtation. I'm not flirting, I'm being friendly. There's a difference. I also wish people weren't so taken aback by the fact that myself, my boss and most of the employees at my job are friendly and polite. Mainly because it's something most consumers aren't used to because admittedly most people in food service or retail aren't that friendly. I get why people always feel a need to compliment our friendly, polite staff. I just wish it weren't such an uncommon thing these days.

  • I'm so excited for baseball season to start. I can't wait to catch a few Rangers games. I also really want to be able to take my youngest brother and little sister to at least one game, too.

  • If the Stars don't win most of their remaining games, they won't be making playoffs this year. Again. Which sucks because they did SO much better this season than they did last season. Still, I'm not counting them out until they're literally out of contention. I'm just bummed there's only two more home games left of the regular season and I'm only going to one of them. Which means if they don't make playoffs, that will be my last NHL game until next season. Sad times, y'all. Lol.

  • I've made some really awesome new friends here lately. It's always great to find like minded people who share so many of your hobbies and interests. Especially when you're not looking for them and they pop up in unexpected places. :)

  • Misery really does love company. Sad fact of life but it's so true.

  • I will likely never get tired of playing Super Mario. Ever. Same goes for Tetris.

  • I'm so glad I quit smoking. I save $30+ per month plus the cash I spent on lights. Plus, I smell good all of the time instead of smelling like body spray or perfume mixed with cigarette smoke.

This has been a post. ;)

Happy Wednesday!!

Here's how the ball busting period situation ended...

If you don't follow me on Twitter, you missed this series of tweets from last night while I was at work. So, let me catch you up for those who didn't see it and finish the story for those who did and want to know how it ended.

"Guy just said to his wife, "why are you always such a ball buster? I swear you're on your period every damn day." He might die in a minute."

"Her cheeks were already red, her entire face flushed red after he said that."

"They're waiting on a to-go order. She just shook her head & stomped out to the parking lot. Guy says she'll have a smoke & calm down."

"HA! He was semi right. She smoked...then got in their car & drove off. He's trying to call her now. Guess who's not answering her phone? XD"

Back to the start. They were standing at the counter waiting on their to-go order. They were bickering (he was bitching at her about the vet bill for her dog who was recently injured apparently) and I politely suggested they could go take a seat and I'd bring their bag of food to them once it was done. They declined the offer and kept bickering, changing topics. Now it was her turn and she was on his ass about how he was supposed to do XYZ for three days in a row now and still hadn't done any of it like he said he would. Blah blah blah.... and then he snapped with the ball buster/period comment. She turned super red and stomped out the door. He shook his head and waved it off, claiming she would need a cigarette and then she would come back in all nice and calm again. We have tons of windows and could see her clearly standing by their vehicle, smoking a cigarette. He smirked as she stubbed it out and commented that she'd be fine now. Instead of coming back in, she hopped in their vehicle and drove off with him standing in there, smug smile now wiped clean off his face. He immediately called her. She didn't answer. He called several more times. No answer. He decided to park it at a table and eat his portion of their now ready to go order and this all happened around 9:20 or so. By 10, we closed and she still hadn't come back for him. I told him he would have to wait outside. He tried to protest that it was cold outside and his jacket was in their vehicle. I apologized but said he was long done with his food and we needed to start closing. We were done and out of there by 10:40 and he was still sitting outside waiting for her to come back, trying to dial her cell repeatedly. He asked me for a ride home, which I declined since I didn't know him. I did offer to call him a cab (we occasionally have drunk people ask us to call one for them so I've since saved several cab companies in my cell for when I need them.) He said that would be great, so I called a cab for him and then got in my car and left with him still sitting there.

Working in a restaurant is never boring. Whether it's between customers or employees, there's always something. Anyone else that works in the restaurant or hospitality industry can attest to that fact. A few days may go by with nothing happening but you won't make it a full week without something interesting happening. A large part of that comes from alcohol consumption I'm sure, lol.

I also don't get why people fight like that in public. Whenever my boyfriend and I get irritated in public, we either address it calmly and if we can't, we save it for home and deal with it in private. Then again, if everyone did it that way, I'd have less amusing blog fodder to use based off stuff that happens at work. ;)

Happy Tuesday!

Breaking out into dance at Barnes & Noble...

Do you ever hear a song that just makes you want to get up and dance? Or if you're standing when you hear it, makes you just want to start dancing all around the room? You don't even necessarily have to like the song. It may just be *that* catchy or maybe the music just gets your blood pumping and makes you want to move. We play pop music at my job. Which I freaking hate because I'm not a fan. However, a few songs that come on just get my blood pumping and make me want to dance around the restaurant. And sometimes, I do. A song by Usher (no, I don't know which one, I just remember it was Usher) came on last night while I was in the dish tank (area where we have all the dishes, huge 3 tier sink to wash dishes, etc) talking to an employee. The song came on and I tried to ignore it but my head started bobbing along. His head was bobbing along. And then, we were dancing around the dish tank like fools, the dishes he was putting away abandoned and my talk about his punctuality (lack of, actually) over at the right time. My boss walked back there and saw us dancing around to the song after maybe a minute. Employee stopped dead in his tracks. Me? Nah. I just kept going. My boss just laughed, threw out a couple ridiculous dance moves of his own, then we all laughed and got back to work. Thankfully, he's cool sometimes. ;)

I do that at home, too. Only it's with music I actually like. Especially when I'm cleaning because I love to have music on while I clean. It makes whatever task I'm doing more enjoyable. The downside is it also makes things take longer if a dance inspiring song comes on. Then I'm grooving around the room, singing loudly and generally just enjoying myself.

I also do this randomly in public places if the urge strikes. I'm bad at ignoring my impulses sometimes. ;) It could happen in a bookstore, walking through a mall, waiting in line at a concert; during a hockey game; anywhere really. If I feel it and the song moves me, I will break out into dance. I likely won't do it for the whole song in public but it'll happen, trust in that.

Keep that in mind if you ever hang out with me. I am goofy, silly, dorky and I don't give a fuck what other people think about me. So, if I look ridiculous breaking out into a goofy dance in the middle of Barnes & Noble? I don't care when people stare or give me strange looks or even make fun of me. I am who I am and I'm comfortable enough to be myself all the time. Which is likely why when I'm stuck in traffic I rock out complete with air guitar while in my car. Only when I'm sitting still, doing that while driving would be dangerous. ;)

I'm not attention seeking with these things. I don't care if no one sees or no one pays attention to the things I do. I just do what I feel like doing. Like I said, I'm bad at ignoring my impulses. ;) I have a lot of energy and I just like to have fun. Also, I really just love to dance. And thankfully most of my friends and my boyfriend just know how I am and accept it. A couple of them will even join in some of my random impulses at times. Which is more fun. Acting like a dork is even more fun when you have someone goofing off with you. :)

Happy Friday!!!

A downpour on a sunny Friday afternoon...

Watching my boyfriend outside playing with his dog is some what adorable. Something about seeing a 6'8" guy being playful with an animal is just cute to me.

On the drive in to Dallas today, I was doing 75 in a 60. Got caught and yet again, got a warning but no ticket. And yet again, I'm glad there's no way to keep up with the amount of times I've gotten a verbal warning to slow down. No, I do not cry my way out of tickets. I just smile sweetly and try talking my way out of it. I'll just be sad for the day when they start giving written warnings and actually keep track of how many a person has, lol.

Also while driving to work, a trucker decided to move into the lane in front of me. No big deal except there was already a Dodge Ram occupying that space. The trucker kept coming over as the Ram laid on their horn and swerved over into the HOV lane to avoid an accident. The trucker was apparently some how not seeing how this was his fault and tossed a drink out his window at the Dodge Ram. I called the number on the back of the dude's trailer and reported him. Which is the first time I've ever done that before but seriously, dude almost causes a wreck and then gets road rage at the person he almost collides in to? Then has the nerve to be the one angry about it, like the truck just shouldn't have been in his way? You've got to be kidding me.

I was supposed to have a late lunch at Panera with a friend today but friend bailed around 30 minutes after they suggested it in the first place. So, I'm sitting in Panera now typing this up as I eat my delicious sandwich. Chipotle chicken for anyone curious. Nom nom nom.

Which brings me to my next little tidbit. Some of you know but most don't, my precious laptop has been on the edge of darkness for a while now and it finally pretty much conked out a week ago. That's why I've only been blogging from my phone when I have the time and patience to do so. I got a wicket little Asus Eee PC for $200 on Wednesday night. The Lawyer (I realized I've been talking about here and there on here, Twitter & Tumblr but have forgot to formally introduce who he is, lol. Oops) had purchased this bad boy for a girl he was dating and they broke up before he was planning to give it to her for a birthday. He lost the receipt for it so he never took it back and just put it in his closet and forgot about it. I was complaining about not being able to do a few things I needed to to because of a lack of computer and he remembered the netbook stowed away in a closet in his condo and offered it to me for whatever I wanted to pay for it. He would have just given it to me but I wouldn't take it for free. So far, I'm really digging it for what I'm using it for. I'm still going to have my laptop fixed when my boyfriend has the free time to dedicate to it and I can buy what he needs to do it. This works for something to take to work and around with me to other places. :)

The boyfriend and I are going to look at another apartment this weekend. I'm excited. The only thing keeping us from moving out now is finding a place to move in to. I miss having my own place so much and I really can't wait to get moved out of our current place. I'm also excited to have a new place to decorate. And happy my boyfriend's mostly happy with my style and likes the things I do. :D

I'm also excited for the Stars vs Flyers game tomorrow. I have the first Saturday off since I started working this job back in August. I worked a 15 hour shift yesterday to make up for the fact that I wouldn't be working Saturday. I've got to work tonight and I'm already at 35 hours for the week. So, hooray for some over time and hooray for hockey games. And meeting new people, which will also happen tomorrow. Meeting cool new people that are into hockey is always a plus. :)

I've noticed that lately, my urge to write is back. I even started working on the book of short stories I had long ago abandoned because I just didn't have the inspiration for it anymore. I also started something new that I won't talk about yet. I'm excited to be working on my old writing project again as well as starting a new one and having so many words to go with both. I think my problem was that I was just in this weird and stressful transitional place where I was trying to catch up from being unemployed for so long and I just had no motivation for anything. I had been so unhappy and down on myself before then because of the trouble I was having finding a job and how badly I was struggling. My motivation to write just wasn't there. It has come back largely now and I'm so happy about that. Honestly, I'm just so happy about my life in general. That feels good. I know my happiness outright annoys a few people and for that, well I just feel sorry for them.

I also realized lately that someone in my life is pretty much never happy for me when things go well in my life. And it bothered me at first. Not so much now. I'm sorry they aren't happy and I'm sorry they try to drag me down when I'm feeling so good about things but too bad. They're the only person holding themselves back from having and doing what they want. They just lack the motivation and determination to get it done. And I know, you don't need people like that in your life but the fact is; sometimes there are people in your life that are there and will always be there. Sometimes their negativity is the only thing you dislike about them. People you're bound to by more than just knowing them. And you know what? The only thing to do with that is not let them get to you and not let the things they say and do effect you. It reminds me of the quote about how the only way people can make you feel inferior is if you let them. That goes for a lot of different things really.

I used to not understand how people could look at me and think that I'm such a strong individual. I'd thank them but be laughing on the inside, just thinking if they only knew how wrong they are. I'm not strong, not at all. I was wrong about myself, so wrong. I just didn't realize it because I didn't really understand what they were saying and what it meant to be strong. I didn't confuse it with physical strength at all but I just didn't see myself the way they did. I didn't see the things they saw as strength as anything more than me just being who I am. I understand it better now. Though, I've rambled enough for one day so I think I'll save the rest of this for another post.

Happy Friday!
Have a good weekend, y'all. :)

50 Irish Facts for St. Patrick's Day

1 The person who was to become St. Patrick, was probably born in Britain to wealthy parents near the end of the fourth century. His given name was Maewyn. Although his father possibly was a Christian deacon, it has been suggested that he probably took on the role because of tax incentives, and there is no evidence that Patrick came from a particularly religious family. Far from being a saint, until he was 16 Patrick considered himself a pagan.

2 Patrick was about sixteen years old when he was abducted and enslaved by Irish marauders, under their leader, Niall of the Nine Hostages.

3 There is some dispute over where this captivity took place. Although many believe he was taken to live in Mount Slemish in County Antrim, it is more likely that he was held in County Mayo near Killala) During his captivity, he became closer to God.

4 According to his writing, a voice - which he believed to be God's - spoke to him in a dream, telling him it was time to leave Ireland. After travelling for more than 200 miles by foot, he was eventually given passage on a boat travelling across the Irish Sea. His first destination was Britain. Patrick also reported that he experienced a second revelation - an angel in a dream tells him to return to Ireland as a missionary.

5 He eventually settled in France and studied in a monastery under St. Germain, bishop of Auxerre for a period of twelve years. During his training he became aware that his calling was to convert the pagans to Christianity.

6 Patrick spent twenty years of his life as a monk in Marmoutier Abbey. There he again received a celestial visitation, this time calling him to return to the land where he had been enslaved.

7 Patrick was called to Rome in 432 whereupon Pope Celestine bequeathed the honour of Bishop upon him before he left on his holy mission.

8 An Irish toast: “May your glass be ever full.
May the roof over your head be always strong.
And may you be in heaven half an hour before the devil knows you're dead.”

9 Patrick and 24 of his followers arrived in Ireland in the winter of 432.

10 Patrick and his followers were invited to Tara by the King of Laoghaire. While he was there he plucked a shamrock from the ground and tried to explain the to the druids and the King that the shamrock had three leaves just like God had three personas - The Father, The Son and the Holy Ghost. This was called the Trinity. Before the Christian era it was a sacred plant of the Druids of Ireland because its leaves formed a triad.

11 King Laoghaire was very impressed and chose to accept Christianity. He also gave Patrick the freedom to spread Christianity throughout Ireland.

12 Patrick was quite successful at winning converts, and this fact upset the Celtic Druids. Patrick was arrested several times, but escaped each time.

13 While not the first to bring Christianity to Ireland, it is Patrick who is said to have encountered the Druids at Tara and abolished their pagan rites. The story holds that he converted the warrior chiefs and princes, baptizing them and thousands of their subjects in the "Holy Wells" that still bear this name.

14 He travelled throughout Ireland, establishing monasteries across the country. He also set up schools and churches which would aid him in his conversion of the Irish country to Christianity.

15 Familiar with the Irish language and culture, Patrick chose to incorporate traditional ritual into his lessons of Christianity instead of attempting to eradicate native Irish beliefs. For instance, he used bonfires to celebrate Easter since the Irish were used to honouring their gods with fire. He also
is said to have superimposed a sun, a powerful Irish symbol, onto the Christian cross to create what is now called a Celtic cross, so that veneration of the symbol would seem more natural to the Irish.

16 His mission in Ireland lasted for thirty years. After that time, Patrick retired to County Down. Patrick is thought to have died sometime between 463AB and 493AD, on March 17th.

17 There are several accounts of St. Patrick's death. One says that St. Patrick died at Saul, Downpatrick. His jawbone was preserved in a silver shrine and was often requested in times of childbirth, epileptic fits, and as a preservative against the "evil eye."

18 Another account says that St. Patrick ended his days at Glastonbury, England and was buried there. The Chapel of St. Patrick still exists as part of Glastonbury Abbey. Relics from Patrick the Older, believed by many to be Saint Patrick are housed at this church. A translation feast is held on August 24th.

19 Today, many Catholic places of worship all around the world are named after St. Patrick, including cathedrals in New York City , Dublin, and Toowoomba in Queensland, Australia.

20 An Irish toast : “May your blessings outnumber, the shamrocks that grow,
And may trouble avoid you wherever you go.”

21 Within the Christian calendar Patrick has been remembered as early as the ninth century AD with the Feast of St Patrick's "falling asleep" - in other words his passing on 17 March. The Book of Armagh included a note directing all monasteries and churches in Ireland to honour the memory of the saint by the celebration, during three days and three nights in mid-spring.

22 Many legends and myths surround Patrick. Some of this lore includes the belief that Patrick raised people from the dead.

23 Patrick also is said to have given a sermon that drove all the snakes from Ireland. Of course, no snakes were ever native to Ireland, and some people think this is a metaphor for the conversion of the pagans. One story tells of his standing upon a hill, using a wooden staff to drive the serpents into the sea, banishing them forever from the shores of Ireland. Another legend says that one old serpent resisted, but the saint overcame it by cunning. He is said to have made a box and invited the reptile to enter. The snake insisted the box was too small and the discussion became very heated. Finally the snake entered the box to prove he was right, whereupon St Patrick slammed the lid and cast the box into the sea.

24 An Irish toast: “St. Patrick was a gentleman, who thru strategy and stealth
Drove all the snakes from Ireland, Here's a toasting his health
But not too many lest you lose yourself and then
You forget the good St. Patrick and see those snakes again.”

25 The St. Patrick's Day custom came to America in 1737.

26 There is a dispute as to his place of burial; the site with the strongest claim seems to be Down Cathedral, where a large slab of rock on which the word Patric is inscribed.

27 Veneration of Patrick was apparent in the eight century AD. At this time Patrick's status of national apostle was made independently of Rome; he was claimed locally as a saint before the practice of canonisation was introduced by the Vatican.

28 Fables about Patrick ridding Ireland of snakes or his use of the shamrock to explain the Trinity, still endure as part of modern St Patrick's Day folklore and custom.

29 What's good luck on Saint Patrick's Day?: Finding a four-leaf clover (that's double the good luck it usually is). Wearing green. (School children started this tradition of their own -- they used to pinch classmates who don't wear green on this holiday). Kissing the blarney stone.

30 Saint Patrick's Day has come to be associated with everything Irish: anything green and gold, shamrocks and luck. Most importantly, to those who celebrate its intended meaning, St. Patrick's Day is a traditional day for spiritual renewal and offering prayers for missionaries worldwide.

31 In modern-day Ireland, St. Patrick's Day has traditionally been a religious occasion. In fact, up until the 1970s, Irish laws mandated that pubs be closed on March 17. Beginning in 1995, however, the Irish government changed this law, and last year, close to one million people took part in Ireland 's St. Patrick's Festival in Dublin.

32 An Irish blessing: “May you always have...
Walls for the winds, A roof for the rain
Tea beside the fire, Laughter to cheer you
Those you love near you
And all your heart might desire.”

33 According to Encyclopedia Britannica, a shamrock is "any of several similar-appearing trifoliate plants (plants whose leaves are divided into three leaflets). Common shamrocks include the wood sorrel (Oxalis acetosella) or any of various plants of the pea family (Fabaceae), including white clover (Trifolium repens) and suckling clover (Trifolium dubium)." Wood sorrel is shipped in large quantities from Ireland to other countries for St. Patrick's Day.

34 An Irish toast: He preached with such wonderful force
the innocent natives his teaching,
with wine washed down each discourse,
Says he: "I detest all dry preaching!"

35 Writings attributed to St. Patrick are his Epistle to Cortices accepted as authentic, and a fine hymn in Irish, the Breastplate of St. Patrick. The Epistle, written in Latin, beseeches Coroticus, a British chief, to free some Irish Christians whom he had taken captive.

36 Croagh Patrick, colloquially called 'The Reek', is God's conical shape beacon above the town of Westport. The summit is the holy ground on which St. Patrick supposedly rested, fasted and reflected during all 44 days of lent in 441 A.D. Here, too, according to legend, is where Ireland's patron saint banished the snakes from the island. It has been a place of pilgrimage ever since.

37 The mountain is renowned for its annual Patrician Pilgrimage in honour of Patrick, and penitential exercises have been faithfully handed down by many generations. On the last Sunday of July each year, its slopes are full of pilgrims, many barefooted, climbing to the summit to attend Mass in the ancient stone church.

38 Near the base of the mountain is Tobair Padraig, or Patrick's Well, named for the natural spring nearby where Patrick baptized his first Irish converts. The present structure was built in the 15th century, and today is completely restored. A stone statue of St. Patrick - holding a green clover to the heavens in his right hand - stands at the beginning of the path.

39 Believe it or not, the colour of St. Patrick was not actually green, but blue! In the 19th century, however, green came to be used as a symbol for Ireland.

40 Lough Derg (Red Lake) Co. Donegal.
This island contains a shrine to Saint Patrick. Legend says he killed the lake monster there and its blood dyed the water red. Many people go there on three day pilgrimages to pray from the first of June to the 15th of August. Lough Derg is said to be a cure for the seven deadly sins.

41 Saint Patrick's Isle is located at the Isle of Man, just off the coast of Ireland. This island is where Saint Patrick is said to have brought Christianity to the people there.

42 Downpatrick Shrine Downpatrick, Northern Ireland.
The Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity (originally named Church of Dendalethglass) is where Saint Patrick, Saint Brigid, and Saint Columba are believed to be buried. A bell, tooth, and hand from Saint Patrick were discovered in the 12th century. Saint Patrick's hand was enshrined in silver and placed in the high altar of the Abbey Church. Water was poured through it to heal sores. The bell and tooth are now in the National Museum of Dublin.

43 Sabhail (Barn) (pron. SAUL) County Down, Northern Ireland.
Legend says Saint Patrick died here and received his last communion from Bishop Tassach.

44 The first church founded by Saint Patrick is located at Mag-inis. The ground is considered holy.

45 Ard Macha or Armagh (Macha's Height) Northern Ireland.
Saint Patrick built the Cathedral Church and founded the See of Armagh in 444 AD. The Primate of the Church of Ireland is housed there today.

46 An Irish toast: “St. Patrick was an Irish man he came from decent people
On a rock he built a church & on this church a steeple
Now it's the red rose for England, the thistle for Scot,
the shamrock for Ireland - the pride of the lot!!!
This toast often given but like my deceased grandmother
who used to deliver it, never forgot!”

47 Dunshaughlin Co. Meath.
Domnach Sechnaill church was built and the first hymn composed in Ireland was written by St. Sechnall. It honors Saint Patrick, is 23 stanzas long, and is known as Hymn in Patrick's Praise.

48 Dublin (Black Pool):
Saint Patrick's Cathedral (built on Saint Patrick's Day 1192 over four older churches) has a stone slab called Saint Patrick's Well Stone. The stone covered the remains of Saint Patrick's Well from the ninth century AD, where Saint Patrick baptized converts and was unearthed in 1901.

49 An Irish toast: “The Scots have their whisky, the Welsh have their tongue, but the Irish have Paddy, who's second to none!”

50 St Patrick is credited with establishing the Leap Year tradition of women proposing to men. The story states this was because St Bridget complained that women were tired of waiting for marriage proposals. The story also says that Bridget proposed to him, but he refused!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!
Be safe if you go out to celebrate tonight. :)

A work rant on rude people.

Last night at work, we had a group of four people come in at 9:55. We close at 10 Sunday-Wednesday and at that time, we still had two other tables in there finishing up their meals. They got their food by 10:15. They only got two entrees, a soup and a dessert plus their sodas and waters. I ran my reports, did my production sheets, etc except for counting money down & doing the deposit since I couldn't close everything out to do that until they were done.

By 10:45, they looked to be finished eating except the two women kept picking at the entree plates barely nibbling on anything and the dessert sat untouched in the middle of the table. By 11:00, they were just chatting & laughing; dessert still untouched. At this point, we're done with everything in the back. They were all paid up and I had the deposit done and everything closed out. The employee closing the front went and asked if they needed a to-go container for their dessert they still hadn't touched. They said no and began picking away at it as they kept talking. I turned off the music, the tv playing sports highlights, the dining room ceiling fans and most of the back of house lights. I can't tell them to leave while they're still eating so, we wait. By 11:20 they were done with their dessert and were just sitting there talking. So, I let the closer go start putting chairs up. He had all the chairs up except for theirs and they continued to keep sitting there chatting and laughing. I told him to go nicely clear their table so we could finish the dishes and get those put away. I went and told them they would have to move the party outside and they laughed making jokes about getting kicked out. Yeah, hahaha, clever clever, now scoot.

I get so pissed off after that. They asked when they came in what time we closed. I told them 10 and they grinned and said they wouldn't be long. Liars. They didn't spend much, they made a big mess, they were rude and they didn't tip.

I admit, I hate when people walk in 5 minutes to close. I don't mind when they eat and then leave. The two other tables we had came in at 9:30 and 9:40 but they were both done and gone by 10:20. That, I didn't mind. They didn't leave huge messes and they weren't demanding and rude. They just came in, ate their food and then left. I don't mind so much when it happens that way. When they sit there camping at the table for almost two hours? That pisses me off. It's rude and incredibly inconsiderate. I can't ask them to leave while they're still eating or appear to still be eating. Even if I suspect they're just nibbling on things to make it look like they're still eating, you have to wait until they're done.

I personally won't go into a restaurant that close to closing time. I know how it sets you back and it sucks. I'd hate to be the person sitting there holding them up and keeping them there even longer. And if I did hypothetically do that, I'd eat and get out as quickly as I could and leave a nice tip to help compensate for the fact that I'm delaying them from getting their tasks done so they can close up and go home.
Thankfully, people like the ones from last night don't happen every night or even on a weekly basis. The barely making it in time thing does happen weekly but rarely are they as bad as the group from last night.

Anyway, time to get busy at work. I'm typing this out on my Blackberry while sitting in the office at work, lol. Time to head downstairs and do some work. ;)

Happy Tuesday!

I don't feel sorry for you being broke.

I always find it amusing in a way when I see someone on Twitter whining about how broke they are or how hard it will be to get by this week when it's their own fault they're struggling.

That sounds mean but when someone tweets things like:

"Look at what I just purchased for myself!" and that tweet includes a link to a $190 pair of boots or a $250 dress or a $240 artsy deco lamp or a new flatscreen TV that set you back $500 on an impulse buy. I don't feel sorry that they only have $30 to get by for the week. Those things weren't likely a necessary purchase & if they were, you could have found a cheaper option if it was something you could not go one more day without so you would still have money for the week for things you need. If it wasn't a need, then keep waiting until you can afford it without getting yourself in a fucking mess financially.

Also when they start talking about going to this restaurant, having a few drinks at this bar, etc; I can't feel sympathy when the "I'm so broke, help me out" tweets start to roll out.

Yes, going out is fun and sometimes after a stressful day, it's needed to unwind. If you're tight on money, don't go crazy at an expensive restaurant and don't have more than a few drinks. or have dinner & do the drinking at home. Or hang out with friends and do something fun. There are always options to keep yourself in a good place. It might not be what you want exactly but be smart about it.

Sometimes buying things for yourself makes you feel better. I get that. If you're tight on money, spending it on things you really want but can't afford is ridiculous. Find something less expensive if you just can't help yourself.

You're just setting yourself up for more stress when you're blowing money that you're actually going to need. Now you have a pretty awesome pair of $200 boots but you're also left with $30 and still need money for gas (that shit isn't cheap) to get to work and other things you might need.

Learn to budget yourself. I'm talking grown adults here, not teenagers or little kids. Hell, I learned how to budget when I was a young teenager. I think that's why I have a hard time understanding how people at 25 and 30 can't manage the concept. If I could, at 13, budget what little money I earned by helping at my dad's restaurant a few days a week; how is it possible an adult can't manage it? You know when you look at your bank balance what you're working with. You should know what you need to have for bills and necessities.

I know sometimes stuff happens. I was unemployed for a year before I finally got the job I currently have. That was rough as hell. Even still, sometimes shit comes up and makes it hard to get by. Unexpected car repairs popping up, doctor's visits that need to happen but aren't planned on, life just happens and sometimes it fucks with your pocket book. When I dislocated my thumb a few weeks back, I didn't go to a doctor for that because it wasn't a major thing and we really couldn't afford it. I know sometimes things out of your control happen and financially it puts you in a bind. That, I can have empathy and sometimes even sympathy for. If I were able to without screwing myself, I'd offer help where I could.

When I see people talking about how they're going to have a tough week and asking for sympathy or help when I know they're just not budgeting their money wisely; I won't feel bad & wouldn't offer help just because it's their own fault. I just can't feel bad for something like that when there's so many people in the world who really need help more than someone who just can't budget their money wisely and figure out their wants versus actually needs.

Happy Monday!

Monogamy, non-monogamy and sex...

I hate how so many non-monogamists believe that non-monogamy in some form is the only way to go. That monogamy can't work. Shout and shout that your lifestyle should be accepted yet criticize another one because it doesn't work for you. It works for plenty of people and plenty of people are happy in their monogamous marriages/relationships with no desire to add anything or change anything.

Before any non-monogamists go nuts on me; cool your jets. I'm bisexual. I've been with the same guy for almost 5 years now. I occasionally fool around with girls. He knows about it. He's fine with it. We don't have a traditional relationship. If he were ever uncomfortable with me doing what I do, I'd quit and never be with anyone but him ever again. I rarely ever have sex or fool around with anyone but him anymore anyway. When it happens, it's usually not planned. I don't have a very active interest in looking for a girl to play around with but if the opportunity is there and it happens? As long as he's okay with it and she's okay with it just being about sex; swell.

I just get annoyed with how many people spend so much time fighting for their lifestyle choices not to be judged negatively and looked down upon just because it's different yet in the process of fighting for that, they're negatively judging and putting down other people's lifestyle. You don't need to throw out divorce statistics, reasons why monogamy isn't sensible, tossing out statistics on why people cheat and on and on and on about how it doesn't work or how it's outdated, etc. It's insulting to tell someone in a happily monogamous relationship that they're jealous of you because you're open and secure enough to have other partners in your life and that they just wish they could have what you do. Not everyone wants that. It's like when someone against your open lifestyle tells you that you're just self-centered and attention seeking and that's the reason why you look for partners outside your relationship. Or that you're insecure and that you need to be validated by as many people as possible to feel worthwhile. While both statements can be true for some people on both sides, they're not true for everyone. You can support your lifestyle and your choices without tearing down another one to make your point. It puts you on the same level as the people you're "defending" yourself against once you start judging, trashing and negatively tearing them down for their choices.

You can't expect people to be accepting of you as you scoff at them, no matter what the subject is.

Happy Wednesday!

Unicorns obviously have rainbow colored sperm. Agree/disgaree?

Yesterday, I tweeted this....

Apparently jokes about brightly colored foam looking like unicorm jizz are offensive…
.. and will make people on Twitter unfollow you after telling you that you're being "offensive." Joking about a mythical creature's sperm is offensive? REALLY? And it wasn't just one person. It was several. I was so amused by it. I wasn't mad or even annoyed. Just kind of laughed over it and couldn't believe that anyone was offended by that. Especially when one of the people that was "offended and disgusted" is someone who makes crude sex jokes all over her timeline and another is someone who talks about his own jizz like it's stuff from the gods. I'm still amused by it, mainly because I just don't consider myself offensive. Maybe to more uptight people I would be but the people that were offended/grossed out by it aren't people I would consider uptight.

It’s just Rain-X by the way, definitely not unicorn jizz. Though, a couple of my friends on Twitter did suggest the possibility that Rain-X is indeed made from the brightly colored sperm of unicorns and that a Slap-Chop is the likely tool used to extract the brightly colored sperm from said unicorns. I digress. It's totally not my fault they make the foamy Rain-X at the carwash look like unicorn jizz. Also not my fault that when I saw it that the first thing I thought was, "bwa ha ha, it looks like a unicorn just blew a load all over my window." My sense of humor is a little weird. ;)

I’m just speculating that a unicorn’s sperm would be rainbow or brightly colored. It makes sense if you just stop and think about it. Pretty sure they piss rainbows and fart sunshine so on top of the fact they look like they have a dildo on their heads, just connect the dots and boom; unicorn sperm is clearly rainbow or brightly colored. It just makes sense and I will not be convinced otherwise.

People are so weird.

Signed,
The girl talking about unicorn jizz

(Also, this isn't a serious post so lighten up and don't take this as a serious rant or anything like that. It's not. I'm just having fun because I'm amused. ;D)

Happy Friday!

Sunday run down on Tuesday...

Sunday is my only day off every week. It's also pretty much the only day I get to see and spend time with my boyfriend so we spend all day and night together doing stuff. I had a great day yesterday.

The Boyfriend and I went to see OVO by Cirque Du Soleil. The show was amazing. It was my first time seeing a Cirque show and I totally enjoyed it. Yesterday was the last day the show was in town before moving on so I was really happy we got to see it. We originally weren't going to go because the tickets are kind of expensive but The Boyfriend found out he gets discounted tickets through a website because of the company he works for. So, we got 2 tickets for a little more than what 1 cost. If the show comes to your city or a city near you, you should totally go see it. It was so good I wanted to see it again, lol.

After that, we went for a late lunch at my favorite Mexican place.

Then we went to look at furniture, kitchen stuff and etc. We weren't buying anything, just looking to get an idea of what we want and what we'll be getting first when we get our own place again. Which will happen soon if shit with our cars will stop breaking, lol.

After that, we went to check out a few things in a shopping center. Again, didn't buy anything.

Then we went to see a movie. The Boyfriend wanted to see "Drive Angry" so we did. I was hoping it would be good or that the amount of action in it would make up for it being bad but no dice. I'm seriously happy we never pay for movie tickets, lol.

After that, we went to a bar The Boyfriend wanted to check out. They have vintage video games (Pacman, Street Fighter, TRON, Galaga, etc), skee ball, giant Connect Four and Giant Jenga. The giant Jenga was totally fun.

I
t was a lot of fun and the bar's drinks were super cheap which is also awesome. We didn't play the big Connect Four game they had out on the patio but I want to some time, lol.

I got home and decided in my drunken state that we needed to get Netflix. So, we started our free trial last night and I'm pretty sure we'll keep it once the trial is over.

Monday, I got some errands done and while I was doing laundry I was watching That 70's Show through Netflix... for two and a half hours, lol. Then I had to stop and go to work. I know I'm late on the whole Netflix thing but whatever, we couldn't afford it (and yes, I know it's not expensive but still) and now we can so it's exciting to me, lol. We don't have cable or satellite so now I can watch movies I want without having to hit up a RedBox in hopes they have a movie I want to see. And I can watch the few TV shows I like, too. So, all in all it seems pretty damn cool. :D

Happy Tuesday!
