Charity and some random rambling...

The first paragraph here is really the only important one. Charity and helping out people in need is always important. The rest is just me rambling about nothing important at all but if you're here, you should read it anyway. K, thanks. :)

Important.....

  • I'm starting my Toys For Tots fundraiser on the blog here pretty soon. Get your donations ready, k? K. This will make the third year I've done it. Click here if you're new around here and want to see how many toys I was able to donate thanks to awesome strangers on the internet the previous two years. It's amazing how $2 or $5 from a lot of people can add up to so much and buy so many toys for kids in need.

And yadda yadda random stuff blah blah blah....
  • Running your hands under the water for two seconds doesn't mean you washed your hands. You just splashed them very briefly with water. Putting soap on them, then immediately rinsing the glob out soap out of the middle of your hands doesn't count either. How can people be in too big of a hurry to take 15 seconds to properly wash their hands? I swear, those few seconds won't hurt anything.
  • I hate when I say I'm allergic to something and then whomever I'm talking to wants to know everything else I'm allergic to. Or worse, when I say I'm allergic to something and they ask why I'm allergic to it. Really? Oh, I don't know. That's just the list of things I thought sounded scary when I was in the womb so I put my allergy requests in then and thankfully all of them were approved.
  • Angry sex > Angry cuddling. This should be self-explanatory. Maybe not the story behind it but why one wins over the other is self-explanatory.
  • Debates are two sided. Doesn't mean you have to reach an agreement or change your opinions but don't assume the other person has nothing worth hearing just because you've got your mind made up and already said your bit. If you don't want to hear another side and possibly discuss differing views, you should keep your mouth shut during a discussion instead of stating your opinions then getting pissed that people keep talking and still don't agree with you.
  • Those Kellog's cereal commercials where they use that line, "Go ahead, it's morning somewhere!" are annoying. Who says cereal is just to be consumed in the morning? I eat cereal more often at night than I do in the morning. It's like the best late night snack ever. Or if it's lunch time and I'm running late or just feeling lazy or nothing else sounds appealing, bowl of cereal. And when I don't want to cook, a bowl of cereal and some fruit makes for a rather quick and easy dinner. Obviously, I eat a lot of cereal. It's good. And if you only eat it for breakfast, I should probably never live with you. I'll eat your cereal before you have a chance to get to it.
  • Why is hating on Taylor Swift so cool? I'm not a fan of hers. Her music annoys me when I hear it out somewhere. I don't whine about her and trash her on a regular basis, though. Guess what I do? I don't listen to her music and don't pay any attention to her. If you haters dislike her so much, try doing the same. Expend some of that effort towards hating on something that matters. Like bacon. My bacon haters anonymous group is shockingly sparse. Five people and counting.
  • Now I am actually tempted to figure out the whole "make a useless Facebook page" about hating bacon to see how many people I can get to join. I'm pretty sure a lot of people would just join to tell me to fuck off and that I'm crazy because bacon r0xorz their s0x0rz lulz. Plus, that all seems like a lot of effort. Also, I'd have to be on Facebook for longer than 5 minutes to get it done I'm sure. So, that temptation didn't last long.
  • If the Rangers win tonight against the Tigers, that makes it their 4th win of the series. That also puts the Tigers out and puts the Rangers in the World Series for the second year in a row. If they win tonight, you'll probably hear me screaming and cheering. Even if you don't live in my neighborhood. Or the same state. It's cool. No need to be alarmed.

Happy Thursday!

Zombie Brew! Plus,,, Moneyball, Rangers & Stars!

The Boyfriend got me a few things last night, just because he's awesome and likes to get me gifts randomly for no real reason. He got me two new paperbacks I've been wanting but have yet to buy myself and a new coffee mug complete with a zombie buddy! I know some of you might be unsure of what exactly a "zombie buddy" is since I wasn't sure until last night myself, heh. So, here you go....

Adorable, right? Okay, maybe not to most people but I dig it. Cute little plushy thing and a new coffee mug to go along with two new books. Awesome stuff, for sure.

Keeping with the theme here, here's a recipe for Adult Zombie Brew. Although this won't be going in the coffee cup. ;)

1 oz. Light Rum
1 oz. Gold Rum
1 oz. Dark Rum
1 tsp. 151 Rum
1/2 oz. Apricot Brandy (Or cherry brandy)
2 oz. Orange Juice (Or papaya juice)
1 oz. Pineapple Juice
1 oz. Lime Juice
1 tsp. Sugar
1 cup Crushed Ice

In a blender, combine all ingredients except the 151 with crushed ice. Blend at a high speed until smooth and pour into a Collins glass. Float the 151 rum on top and garnish with a maraschino cherry. To make it on the rocks, add all ingredients except 151 rum into a cocktail shaker with 1/4 a cup of ice, shake well, strain into a glass with 1/2 cup or desired amount of ice. Float 151 rum on top, garnish with maraschino cherry.

I love Halloween. It's by far my favorite holiday and even though most people only celebrate it for the one day, I pretty much enjoy it all month long, haha. :D

Aside from all of that......

The Boyfriend and I went to see Moneyball last night. Not bad at all. Kind of long and a little slow to get going but still a good movie. Even if it is about one of the teams I dislike most in baseball, haha. :D That's pretty much irrelevant. Even though the movie is based off the Billy Beane and the A's story, the movie is pretty much about the way Beane changed things up. Which I won't talk much about the movie in case any of you reading want to see it but haven't yet. Definitely go see it! Unless you don't like movies about sports, being the underdog, trying something unorthodox and attempting to succeed when everyone's telling you you're wrong.

Speaking of, RANGERS ARE IN THE ALCS! Game two was supposed to be yesterday but got postponed due to all the rain Arlington saw on Saturday night. I saw a lot of people bitching about it being postponed but I was happy about it. The field was too wet. Do you really want poor playing conditions to help dictate a game? Wet field means people could slip, slide and miss plays they normally would have made because of it. I don't want that happening and am happy they postponed the game. Texas won game one and now we need to win three more to go to the World Series for the second year in a row. EXCITING! :D

Also in sports, The Boyfriend and I are going to the Stars game tonight against Pacific Division rivals, the Phoenix Coyotes. We went to the home opener Friday night against the Blackhawks, where the Stars won in spectacular, energetic fashion. They played back to back with the Hawks, facing them again Saturday night, in Chicago. Goaltending was off and most of the team didn't play well. Adam Burish looked awesome (he did miss the game Friday though since he's been working on coming back from a groin injury) and he looks great player on Fiddler's line, in my opinion. They're both speedy and I like the chemistry they seem to have going so far. I'm hoping for a good effort from the team tonight. Yay hockey being back!

Happy Monday!

Random thoughts runneth over...

With all the remakes of movies they've been doing lately, I'm dreading the day I see a trailer for the remake of The Breakfast Club. I swear, they better not ever remake that movie. It's perfect the way it is and I love it. There's really no need for it. There's also no need to be remaking old movies anyway. Hollywood needs some creativity sparking or something if the best they can do is remakes of everything and, comic book movies and blood and gore movies with more tits and ass than blood and gore. Not that I mind the comic book movies, really. Though as a comic book nerd, I tend to critique the hell out of the story lines in the movies and that tends to ruin it for me. ;)

------------------

I'm going to see one of my favorite bands in concert tonight. OPETH. Hell yeah. For those unfamiliar with their music, well, if you don't dig Swedish melodic metal, you might not like them. I however love and adore them. I've seen them once before. They're new album came out recently and I'm super excited for the show tonight. Going to concerts is one of my absolute favorite things to do. Right up there with going to hockey games and baseball games. Anyway, his voice is beautiful to me. I listen to Opeth a lot when I need to relax but they're good any time. I'm so freaking excited for tonight. :D

------------------

The Rangers beat the Tampa Bay Rays yesterday and ended that series. Rays are done for the season and the Rangers move on to the ALCS. We'll face either the Yankees or the Tigers, depending on which team wins their series. I'm excited. I love baseball and playoffs are so exciting, nerve racking, emotionally distressing and fun. I'm just so happy the Rangers made the playoffs again this year and I'll be even happier getting to watch them play in the World Series again this year. :D What? I'm optimistic. ;)

------------------

Also, THE DALLAS STARS START THEIR REGULAR SEASON ON FRIDAY! HOCKEY IS BACK! YEAH BOY! I'm excited by that, too. Obviously. I can't wait for the game on Friday. I went to two preseason games and while those are fun, they're not near as awesome as regular season is. The fun of preseason is getting to watch a lot of up and coming guys playing and watching some of the young guys progress as players. Definitely saw some guys with exciting promise during preseason and I'm sure several of them are going to do great things once they get some more experience under their feet. Another thing that I'm excited about for Friday? I get to use the awesome new camera the boyfriend got for me to take some awesome pictures during the game. If I remember to. I get to busy watching, sometimes I forget to take any pictures of the action. YAY HOCKEY!

------------------

This is still my favorite thing I've overheard in a bar:

Guy: "Stop being a vagina! Shut it!"
Girl: "Fine. Don't expect it to open once we get home though, asshole."

Seriously. I still laugh when I think about that and it happened a week ago, haha.

------------------

My boyfriend is awesome. He got me half a dozen of my favorite sugar cookies from a cookie shop at the mall I freaking love. They're the best sugar cookies I've ever had and I haven't had any in the longest time. I love that he surprises me with little things that I like instead of getting stupid little cliche things.

------------------

I really miss our dog. She died back in July so it's been a few months. I saw someone yesterday walking their dog and she looked a lot like Akasha. It made me really sad. Sometimes, I sit out in the backyard on the back porch steps with a book and wish I could just have her back there again. Sneak her a treat for no reason or something. Or I'll be laying in bed and hear the roommates dog barking or the neighbors' dogs making noise and I'll think about how she was such a good dog and never made a lot of noise unless there was a reason to. Sometimes I look out the kitchen window into the yard and think I'll see her out there running around or playing with the roommates dog or just laying out under the trees in the shade. It's weird how the mind works sometimes. It's like I forget she's dead for a few seconds and then it sinks back in. It's not that I forget really, it's just that I don't think about it. I'm kind of anxious for a new dog now but at the same time, I'm not really ready for a new pup and I know the boyfriend isn't either. Hopefully sometime soon that will change, though. I miss having a furry buddy.

------------------

Soon, my hair will be a lovely burgundy color again. :D I might even post pictures. I love having dark red hair. I might wait until after Halloween to do it, though. Depends on what I decide to do for my favorite holiday.

Happy Wednesday!

Books, baseball, cooking, Weeds, etc....

Some things I'm loving right now....

  • Mixing equal parts apple juice, cranberry juice and pomegranate juice together. It tastes so good. And if you add liquor, it tastes even better. ;)
  • Tea Tree Oil Cooling Foot Scrub by Earth Therapeutics. I'm on my feet a LOT. I use this stuff a few times a week to keep my feet smooth and to help them feel better. This stuff soothes my aching, sore feet while also exfoliating them. Plus, it's only $4 at Target.
  • Weeds. The TV show, not the things that grow in the ground. The Boyfriend started watching it on NetFlix (on season 1, no cable so we had never seen it before) and I ended up getting sucked in to it. I love a lot of the characters and find the show pretty amusing so far. Though, we're only on season 2 for now so we'll see.
  • Burt's Bees Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil. It makes my lips feel awesomely soft and it smells good.
  • NetFlix. We don't have cable and I don't like most of the crap shows that come on network TV. NetFlix has movies, documentaries and shows I'm missing on Discovery and Food Network by not having cable. Also, Power Rangers, the original stuff. Totally reliving childhood with an episode here and there, lol.
  • Cooking. I've been stressing and worrying over a lot of things lately. Not to mention emotional stuff over some recent deaths that I'm still working through and other issues going on, I've just been having a rough time lately. Cooking is insanely therapeutic for me. I love being able to take a bunch of ingredients, put them together and create something that smells, looks and tastes wonderful.
  • The Rangers shutting out the Red Sox last night, lol. I hate the Red Sox. Any time we beat them makes me smile. Shutting them out makes me smile even more. Now if only the rest of the games in this series (and the next one, and on and on) go well for the Rangers, I'll continue being happy. Yay winning.
  • People sending me books. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE to read. I started a book exchange with a few friends who live out of state now and a couple people off Twitter. We send books around to each other and I've gotten to read a couple really good ones so far. Totally one of the best ideas I've ever had. :D
Happy Tuesday!

Innuendo on the mini-golf course & stuff...

Yesterday, I went to dinner with my mom and two youngest siblings. After that, we went to play miniature golf. I saw this sign upon arriving at the course entrance and pretty much died laughing. My sister (she's 20) giggled over it, too.

I must say, a 5 stroke limit doesn't sound very pleasurable to me.

Though, that wasn't the only one. Between me and several of my Twitter buddies, we came up with tons of innuendo in that sign.

We also let the innuendo carry over into the batting cages once I announced we were heading over there.

By the way, I got 3 hole in ones on the mini golf course and got my lowest score ever. Which isn't much to be said because I usually suck pretty badly at mini golf. I have fun anyway, kind of like when we go bowling. I don't have to be good at something to have fun at it.

I was actually nervous about the batting cages. I played baseball for a long time growing up and into my teens but hadn't played in quite a few years and hadn't been inside the batting cages in a while either. Mainly, knowing I had been such a good player (and I was, my other younger brother's baseball coach was forever trying to convince me to come play for their team because he could pull some strings to make it happen) and so good at bat, I was a little afraid that I would suck at it now. I don't mind not being good at things (see: mini golf, bowling, tennis, soccer, pottery, sewing, line dancing, being patient, etc) but finding out I sucked at something I used to be really good at and really loved doing would suck for me. Kind of like a personal disappoint that would have me working at it again until I got good at it again. So, I was apprehensive when the first ball launched out at me. Then felt better as I cracked it out to the back of the cage area. The more balls I hit, the better I felt. I hardly missed a single ball launched my way. It was fun and reminded me how much I really loved playing baseball. I also remembered what great stress relief it is to just stand there swinging a bat and hearing that sweet satisfying sound as the bat meets the ball and sends it sailing out in a direction far away. So, I promised myself last night that I'd try to hit up the batting cages at least once every month now. If for nothing else than it's fun, relaxing and stress reducing.

I also made little Easter Bags for my family. I'm not religious but most of my family is. My youngest two siblings are 20 and 16, so they didn't mind getting a bag over a basket. I doubt if they were younger they would have minded that anyway. I got four Easter themed gifts bags, filled them up with that annoying fake grass then put a DVD and some candy inside each bag. My sister got "Daybreakers", brother got "How To Train Your Dragon", Boyfriend got "Sherlock Holmes" and my mom got a Tyler Perry comedy she likes although I honestly forgot which one it was already.

I did the bags because they were $1 a piece versus $3 a piece for the cheapest basket I could find. The bags were cuter than the cheap baskets anyway. And I don't see a lot of point in spending a lot of money on something that is going to end up in the garbage later that night anyway. The bags were a cute alternative that saved me a few bucks and everyone loved their Easter bags. My boyfriend knew I was doing them but didn't know what I was putting in them. My mom and siblings were just surprised and happy with theirs.

I had a great day spending time with people I love. Hopefully all of you had a good weekend and a Happy Easter if you celebrate the holiday.

Happy Monday. :)

Afternoon bullets..

  • I love the white cheddar mac & cheese from Panera. Mac & cheese is probably one of my absolute favorite comfort foods. Theirs is definitely awesome. Not as good as my homemade stuff but I don't have much free time for cooking so it hits the spot when I'm craving something delicious and comforting.

  • I'm excited. Next month, I get to do my first market experience. Near where I work, they do an "open market" thing on weekends where you can rent a booth and try to sell your products. I'll be in the food section selling awesome cupcakes. :)

  • I might need help for my addiction to smoothies. Luckily, that's better than a chocolate addiction or a milkshake addiction. It makes sense that as much as I love fruits and yogurt that smoothies would be something I can't get enough of, haha.

  • I've had three regular customers ask me out on a date this year. Two in January and another today. I hate that being nice and polite so often gets confused with flirtation. I'm not flirting, I'm being friendly. There's a difference. I also wish people weren't so taken aback by the fact that myself, my boss and most of the employees at my job are friendly and polite. Mainly because it's something most consumers aren't used to because admittedly most people in food service or retail aren't that friendly. I get why people always feel a need to compliment our friendly, polite staff. I just wish it weren't such an uncommon thing these days.

  • I'm so excited for baseball season to start. I can't wait to catch a few Rangers games. I also really want to be able to take my youngest brother and little sister to at least one game, too.

  • If the Stars don't win most of their remaining games, they won't be making playoffs this year. Again. Which sucks because they did SO much better this season than they did last season. Still, I'm not counting them out until they're literally out of contention. I'm just bummed there's only two more home games left of the regular season and I'm only going to one of them. Which means if they don't make playoffs, that will be my last NHL game until next season. Sad times, y'all. Lol.

  • I've made some really awesome new friends here lately. It's always great to find like minded people who share so many of your hobbies and interests. Especially when you're not looking for them and they pop up in unexpected places. :)

  • Misery really does love company. Sad fact of life but it's so true.

  • I will likely never get tired of playing Super Mario. Ever. Same goes for Tetris.

  • I'm so glad I quit smoking. I save $30+ per month plus the cash I spent on lights. Plus, I smell good all of the time instead of smelling like body spray or perfume mixed with cigarette smoke.

This has been a post. ;)

Happy Wednesday!!

The ballpark & a birthday....

Today is my mom's birthday. So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM! Thanks for all that you do and have done. I'm working tonight but I have Saturday free to spend with my mom to celebrate her birthday since I couldn't get tonight off. We're going to lunch and going to the Stars/Sabres game (my family loves sports too you know :D) that evening and I'm not sure what else if anything will be going on but that will get figured out. :D

Also today?

TONIGHT IS GAME ONE IN THE WORLD SERIES. THE TEXAS RANGERS ARE MAKING THEIR FIRST WORLDS SERIES APPEARANCE.

They're facing the San Francisco Giants.

This is so fucking awesome. :)

I'm so jealous of the few people I know that are going to get to go to one of the games. I actually made it out to the Ballpark to see three baseball games this season. With my schedule and finances, that's awesome. I'd fucking love to go to a World Series game to see my team play, though. How cool would that be?

Have any of you ever gone to a major game to see your team play? World Series, Stanley Cup, etc.

I've been to tons of regular season games for both the Stars and the Rangers through out the years. I've gone to several Stars games during their playoff efforts.

I've never gone to see a Mavericks game. Yet. I need to find some basketball fans so I have someone to go with since none of my friends or boyfriend can stand to watch basketball and I really don't want to go to a game alone. I need someone to enjoy it with me. ;)

And the Cowboys, well, I've never been a big enough Cowboys fan to care about going to the games.

Some of my best memories as a little kid were getting to go to Rangers games with my family. My dad worked so much, we didn't see him or do fun stuff very often with him. He was always at work or doing something for work and really just not around too much. It always made doing stuff with him seem extra special because it didn't happen all the time. Going to baseball games with my family was one of those times we all did something together and it was fun. I remember always hoping to catch a ball, be it a home run or a foul ball, as it came slicing it's way through the air into the seats. Watching everyone destroy bags of peanuts and feeling sorry for the workers that would have to clean up all those shells. My parents letting us get the little ice cream sundaes that came in the Rangers batting helmet.
Those are so rad. Yes, are, not were. They still do that and I still think they're awesome. :D

Watching baseball always makes me miss playing. That was also another favorite part of my youth. I played for years and I was pretty good, if I do say so myself. I don't miss playing in tournaments where we played 8 games or more in a single day. In July. In that fucking Texas heat. Even with that, tournaments were still fun as hell. I still like to play catch and hit the batting cages when I have the time to do so. Batting was always my favorite part of the game. I remember the first time I knocked a ball over the fence. I've loved the sound of the ball connecting with the bat ever since that day. That crack is such a happy sound for me.

I do love hockey more than baseball which is why I tend to talk about it more. Baseball always will be my second love in sports, though. I love the game and I have so many happy memories of playing and watching. And this season for the Rangers so far has added a shitload more to the good stuff in sports memory bank. ;)

Happy Wednesday!

Go Rangers!!!! :D

I wanna put you in a song....

Rangers VS Yankees Game 4 of the ALCS was last night. Rangers won 10-3. Which puts them up 3-1 over those Yankees. One more win for my Rangers and they're going to the World Series. How fucking exciting is that?! Well, unless you're a Rangers fan, I suppose it's not incredibly spectacular. For me (and other Rangers fans) it's FUCKING GRAND. :D

I posted this picture on my Tumblr last night:

Broken camera glass makes for some really badass shots.

I worked during the game so I didn't get to see much of it. I saw bits and pieces up until the last 30 minutes of the game when I finally got to focus on it. Damn work, getting in the way of my ALCS enjoyment. :p

Game 5 is at 2 PM. If the Rangers win, they'll knock out the Yankees and be in the World Series. The game will be played in NY. Winning it at home in Texas would be cooler but as long as they win, I'll be happy. It would be pretty sweet to knock NY out in NY. Of course, there's still a chance that the Yankees will make a come back. Go Rangers! :D

I got home from work last night around 11 PM. I got a shower and put in some Boy Meets World. I got Season 1 & 2 for $10 from Best Buy. The Boyfriend is working the 5 pm to 2 am shift at his job for the next couple months so I was looking for something to keep amused that didn't take much thought or effort. I always need to chill a couple hours after work to decompress. Even if I'm tired as hell, I still can't go to bed right away. It's funny watching shows I loved as a kid now that I'm an adult. I pick up on all the slight innuendos and adult humor subtly hidden in the dialog of the show. :D

I would like some book recommendations. I don't like romance or mystery books. I prefer sci-fi, fantasy, horror, sports, fiction, non-fiction, biographies, true crime and pretty much anything that isn't too fluffy. So, if you're reading a good book right now or have a favorite you love to rave about; feel free to pass along the title and author's name this way. :D

I love cupcakes, muffins, plaid, Crunch Berries, Edgar Allen Poe poetry, pomegranate lemonade, vanilla scented candles, clear lip gloss, history, knee high socks, How To Train Your Dragon, Orbit BubbleMint gum, crunchy peanut butter, penguins, Tumblr and flip flops. Among other things. ;)

If you haven't already, make sure you check out the fundraiser post here. Please and thank you! It only takes a few dollars to make a difference and help someone out. :)

Happy Wednesday!

OMG YES!!!

Last night was Game 5 between the Texas Rangers and the Tampa Bay Rays. RANGERS WON! AL Division Series champs, y'all! :D Yes, this is a BIG DEAL for Rangers fans. The Rangers are finally in the AL Championship Series and that's something that has never happened with this team before. I believe we're the only team in the MLB to never make it one single time to the ALCS. Until now! It's kick ass to see them doing so well. We face the Yankees next. Bring it! :D

Another reason to love this team? They did something special for Hamilton so he could celebrate with the team. Addiction is a hard thing to live with and Hamilton was going to pass on the celebration to avoid being around booze. They made it so he didn't have to miss out and that was a wonderful thing to do.

"Josh Hamilton’s teammates weren’t going to celebrate without him this time.

As soon as the Texas Rangers hugged on the field and headed for the tunnel following a 5-1 ALDS Game 5 win over the Tampa Bay Rays, the clubhouse attendants told Hamilton to get his goggles on.

“I was getting a little worried,” Hamilton said. “I didn’t know what was going on.”

Hamilton, who has battled drug and alcohol addiction, said it’s best for him not to be around champagne. So he walked into the clubhouse to find his teammates waiting on him and holding bottles of Canada Dry ginger ale.

“Everybody yelled ‘Ginger ale!’ and I just jumped in the middle of the pile and they doused me with it,” Hamilton said. “It was the coolest thing for my teammates to understand why I can’t be a part of the celebration, and for them to adapt it for me to be a part of it says a lot about my teammates.”"

FUCK YEAH. :D

Here are some pictures. If you want more, my Tumblr page is full of Rangers pictures at the moment. I have a tendency to post them when I come across one I like but after last night's win? I might have flooded my page with pictures of the Rangers celebrating. :D

Happy Wednesday!

Raining on Sunday...

I had a blogger/Twitter person send me Direct Messages on Twitter yesterday wanting to argue with me about something. She tweeted something and since I wasn't busy yesterday, I saw it and wanted to wish her luck in dealing with her crappy situation. She replied back with something snarky which ended up pissing me off. Basically it was a few comments about how it was nice of me to take time out of my busy life and acknowledge her.

I work 6 days a week. I don't work 9-5. I work double shifts most days. I work 11 am to 2 or 3 pm and then I have an hour or two off for a lunch break. I don't live close enough to go home so I grab lunch and then read a book while I waste the break time. Then I usually work 4 pm to close or 5 pm to close. So literally, I spend the whole day at work most days and I don't work a job where I'm at a desk on a computer. I'm on my feet and dealing with customers face to face the majority of the time. That doesn't leave me much free time for my real life and the people in it much less time to go check blogs and keep up with everyone on Twitter. The free time I do have, I'd rather spend with my boyfriend or friends or doing laundry or getting some errands done.

I didn't feel a need to defend myself against her snark so, I didn't. Which got me a few more messages from her getting more irritated because I wouldn't engage her in a silly argument online and wouldn't apologize for not being able to get online every to read her blog and tweets. So, she threatened to unfollow me and quit reading my blog. I told her to go for it.

Also, if you get annoyed by people talking about sports a lot, you probably shouldn't follow my blog or follow me on Twitter. I'm not going to get my feelings hurt over someone unfollowing my blog or my Twitter and I'm not going to make a big production out of it because I really don't care.

Anyway, lets hit some positives.

October 14th is the Stars home opener! We're more than halfway through September. I cannot wait for hockey season to get going. Training camp started over the weekend. I'm so ready for it. Baseball's great but in terms of sports, nothing beats hockey for me. :D I am excited about how well the Rangers have been doing this season, though. That's so nice to see. I'm hoping they keep on doing well and do great in the playoffs.

The Stars have some games before the 14th but that's the first home game. Which I was going to be very sad if I didn't get to go to, lol. One of my friends have a "we're doomed" attitude about the Stars this season. I'm kind of excited to see how it goes. We have some new players, Modano and Turco are gone, they're rebuilding as a team and I'm unsure how I feel about the direction it's all going. Even if seeing Modano (who has been my favorite player since I was 9) play for another team is going to suck, I'm still looking forward to the changes the team has made and hoping they will turn out to be good changes.

Lastly, a video of the musical variety. I know a lot of people dislike country so if you're one of them? Don't play this one, lol. I like country and I love Keith Urban. The actual video to this song is here but the embedding is disabled so instead of messing around with it, I just found one with the song on there. If you like the song, go watch the video. I love it. This song? Perfect way to spend a lazy Sunday (or any day...;D), raining or not. :)

Happy Monday!

Orange Mango Grape...

I worked a 12 and 1/2 hour shift yesterday. I got home after midnight so The Boyfriend was asleep. He started his new job this week, which requires him to be up by 6 AM to get ready to start his day. I walked into the room quietly, set all my stuff down and then went to get a quick shower. Then, I dressed in pajama bottoms and a t-shirt and went to lay down in bed. I got in bed gently, which really wasn't necessary. The Boyfriend is a heavy sleeper. I could jump on the bed and he wouldn't budge. I got in gently just in case, though. I leaned over to give him a kiss on the cheek. He did a little smile and stirred a little bit, then wraps his arm around me and pulls me up against him. I asked, quietly, if I woke him up. He says nothing so I know I didn't. I laid there like that for a while, just relaxing and de-stressing from the super long day at work. I didn't have the best day and that helped, even if he wasn't actually awake.

I took this picture last night at work. It's just a picture of a shot on the TV....

I like that score. They were playing the Tigers and all but... they weren't leading Detroit for the whole game so I was worried at one point that maybe sweeping the Yankees over the weekend (nope, still not tired of saying that! :D) might have taken some juice out of my Rangers. No worries, though. Obviously, lol.

Also, I decided I'm going to try doing the Toys For Tots Fundraiser again this year! Lots of bloggers and blog readers and etc donated money last year and helped make it a huge success. Well, by my standards and given the time I decided I wanted to do it in, I'd say it was huge. Click the link to see the posts and see what I'm talking about. I'm going to start in mid-October I think and will post more details starting then. :)

I need to start jotting down random notes during the day. I always think of amusing and/or interesting things I want to blog about in the middle of the day while work tends to be slow and I'm spacing out. Then at night when I'm exhausted or early in the morning when I'm still half asleep, I can never remember any of the stuff I want to post on here. I don't always have time to write the ideas down when I get them but I'll figure something out. Not to be more entertaining or whatever. It's just annoying me that I think up good stuff I want to write about then can't remember while I'm writing.

I do have some dreams I've had recently I want to blog about. For now, I need to pass out. I'm exhausted and don't even know why I'm still up this late. Or why I got back up after I laid down in the first place. I seriously love that you can set blogs to post at any time, though. :D So while it's 3 AM now, this sucker won't see the light of the blog-o-sphere for another 3 hours. I hope to be in a state of complete passed the fuck out at that time. So happy I'm only working an 8 hour shift today so I won't be going in too horribly early. :D

Happy Wednesday, y'all!

Miscellany like whoa....

I closed last night at work and have to be back by 10 AM to work a double shift. 10-3 and then 4-10. Yeehaw. Last night was mostly slow but there were some parts that were busy. One right before close. Drunk customers can be amusing and wonderful. They can also be a pain in the ass and obnoxious. So, the last part of my night was stressful and I don't stress easily. The weather has been cooling off to he mid-80's here the last few nights. Which is so much nicer than it being 90-something and humid as hell. Something that always chills me out is rolling the windows down and rocking the fuck out while I drive home. Something about the fresh air hitting me, rolling through the car, speeding down the highway with some really great metal going just flat out relaxes me. It's one of the best ways for me to de-stress when I need to. So last night, I rolled the windows down and did just that. It was a great drive home and I felt cheerful by the time I pulled into the driveway. Also, tired. So very tired, lol.

One of my awesome friends came up to my job last night to eat. He brought me steamed rice and orange chicken from a Chinese place because I've been craving orange chicken like crazy lately. Then I got busy after two bites of it and didn't get to eat the rest for a couple hours. Lucky for me, I don't mind if my food isn't steaming hot. For the most part. Some things, I can't eat if they're not warm. The orange chicken was sooo good. I got a fortune cookie with a blank fortune, though. I was so disappointed. I rarely get fortune cookies so when I do, I want to be amused or roll my eyes at whatever sage advice or fantastic prediction I'm getting. FAIL.

BOY MEETS WORLD seasons are out on DVD. I LOVE THAT SHOW. Seasons 1-3 are the ones out right now. I need to acquire all three of them. Yes, need. I don't watch a lot of TV so I don't own a lot of TV shows on DVD. I have Will & Grace, House, Big Bang Theory and some Family Guy. Now, I need some Boy Meets World. :D

My toes have been cramping lately. I'm not sure what's going on there or why it's happening. It feels really awkward when it happens, though. I wish it would stop. That would be great.

HOCKEY SEASON STARTS SOON!! I know y'all have missed reading my posts about hockey related stuff. :p Of course, I could talk about the Rangers right now but the way they have played the last few games hasn't made me want to write anything on them, lol. I hope they get their groove back soon. Oh and people should stop injuring themselves. That, would be all kinds of fantastic.

I know these random posts where I just ramble about shit don't get a lot of comments but I don't care. I love doing these posts. I write my blog for me and just get happy that other people happen to, at times, enjoy my rambling. These posts are great for me because I can just ramble about boring stuff on my mind and get it out there so I can stop having it float around in my head space taking up valuable room that other things are waiting to take over. :p

I should definitely be sleeping since I have to be up for work in 6 hours. Why am I still awake? I was exhausted earlier and now I'm just feeling a bit wired. Ah well. I'm sure once I lay down and put on some Opeth I'll be lulled right into a nice sleep. Hopefully. Opeth is great "lulled to sleep" music for me, though. Depending on the album. :)

Happy Tuesday!

More rambling.......

Today is my first day off since I started my new job. I'm worn out, lol. 60+ hour work weeks with no day off will do that I suppose. I'm still enjoying it despite the hectic hours and the fact that, even though I live with my guy, I rarely see him now. Speaking of, he interviewed for a job on Friday and found out Tuesday that he got it. I'm so happy because now he can quit that shitbox company he currently works for. He'll be working in his field doing what he likes doing and getting paid well. Yay!!! Hopefully we can move out soon and get our own place again. I so miss having our own place.

Anyway... My day off is going to be spent doing laundry and errands. Also have plans to have dinner out with some of the guys. I miss seeing my friends, lol. I think there will be movie watching or video games after dinner, too. I just wish the Boyfriend were going to be hanging out but alas, he'll be at work all night until late. Then I'll be passed out by the time he gets in since I work early Friday.. Yay split shifts. .;)

I got some blade tape to do a giveaway with but I need to think of a good hockey themed contest for people who want to try to win some blade tape. No, I didn't buy it. I had a company contact me and offer to send me some to use and giveaway in exchange for getting their name more out there. Fun fun. I'm always down for helping a good company out. Especially a local one, heh.

My boyfriend got me a footbath spa thing Tuesday night. It bubbles, massages, is heated and all that good stuffs. He's such a sweetheart. :) if anyone can suggest some salts or anything to use in the foot spa thing, go for it. :)

Rangers won again last night over the Twins!!! Hell yes!

Also, is it hockey season yet? :p I know, I know. It's getting closer, though. I'm lucky I dig baseball so I at least have that to keep amused with. Still not as awesome as hockey, though.

Happy Thursday!!!!!

Ramble ramble....

Have you ever listened to a story your co-worker was telling you and been so bored you wanted to stab your own hand with a fork just for the distraction to make the story stop? Also to make the story you'll tell later more interesting? Yeah, me too. One of my co-workers is super nice but he tells the most long, drawn out and ultimately boring stories ever. He's so nice, though. So I humor him and listen to his stories and then immediately work to change the subject. I can't be mean for no reason. I like him otherwise, too. So I don't want to be a dick to him. I just want him to refrain from telling stories. And jokes! Oh gosh, lol. At least I have a couple nice co-workers and a cool boss. That always helps make the work place a more enjoyable place.

I'm going to see my family in October! :) This is exciting since it's been over a year since I've seen my dad and 22 and by the time I see them again, about a year since I've seen my mom, LS and YB. I miss them. :) I also get to take in a kick ass concert while seeing them. So woo!

I CANNOT WAIT FOR SUMMER TO BE OVER. It was 109 yesterday with a heat index of 169818. Okay, not really that bad but shit man. And it doesn't cool off much once the sun goes away. Still in the mid 90's and still humid. Sometimes, I wonder why I love Texas so much. :D

HOCKEY SEASON STARTS SOON. Bring it! I think we're going to the home opener against Detroit. Which will be awesome but sad at the same time, lol. I'm not digging seeing my favorite player in a Red Wings jersey now. Yay hockey! At least I enjoy baseball so I don't go in massive sports withdrawal too bad in the summer. Which reminds me, the Rangers beat the Twins last night. Hell yes! I was at work but several of my awesome Twitter people were updating me on how the game was going. I couldn't check it that often to see the updates but I saw enough to halfway keep up with what was going on. :)

Happy Tuesday!

Suckage, charity, Rangers, Brand Boyd & more.

You know what sucks? Unexpectedly stepping on a LEGO block, especially if you catch a corner or if it twists around under you. Fuck that shit. It's a tiny little thing but it's SO very annoying.

More suckage? Paper cuts. Fuck 'em. They're annoying as hell. And they're so small they shouldn't be such a problem. Go figure.

You know what else sucks? My boyfriend gets home from work and gets to bed about an hour before I get up for work. I get home from work after he's already gone to work. By the time he gets home, I'm passed the fuck out. The only day we have off together is Sunday. So even though I live with him, I'm only going to see him one day out of the week. And a few hours on Friday nights. It'll do. At least I'm finally working but man... Lol.

The Boyfriend rented After.Life last night from Redbox. It has Liam Neeson in it. I so love him as an actor. It also has Christina Ricci and she's awesome. I don't usually like movies like that because they tend to be so laughable and ridiculous. "Scary" movies don't scare me and "thrillers" don't usually do much for me either. Blood and gore movies don't bother me either. I actually dig some of those. Mmm, blood and gore. Anyway, I haven't watched it yet.

I find it funny when people criticize other people's taste in movies. "I hate horror movies, I need some substance in my films and blood and scary bits aren't substance." Yeah, but romantic comedies are just packed full of substance, right? Riii-iight. To each their own people. Quit being so fucking critical of EVERYTHING, stop acting like your opinion is the only one and that anyone that likes something you find stupid is also a moron. Pfft. Of course, disagreeing is cool. I just find it ridiculous when people attack someone or get into pitiful little serious trash talking matches over stuff. Good natured jabbing among friends is always fun. Being seriously critical over a difference in opinion over such trivial things? Please.

Put your efforts toward something that actually matters. There are tons of issues in the world really worth fighting for. Pick one of those that means something to you and go for it.

Speaking of which, I'm doing a canned food/non-perishables food drive to give to the local food bank. I'm harassing my friends and their families and other people I know. If any of you in the Dallas area that I know want to let me raid their cabinets, let me know. Or you can drop stuff off to me and I'll take it. Or I can pick it up from you if you want to raid your own cabinets. If I don't know you, sorry, I won't be making any house calls to people I don't know for safety reasons. Though, if you're willing to have me come pick some stuff up? Go ahead and put whatever you would be giving me into a bag or box and drop it off. There's always somewhere that needs something. :)

Donations are always nice, too.

Which reminds me. I'm definitely going to be doing the Toys for Tots blog fundraiser again this year. :D And I'll start doing donations and shopping earlier, too. That way I don't have to go all crazy doing the shopping and dropping off so close to Christmas. If you missed that, you should check that out. It was awesome. :D

Anyway...... I haven't blogged about any sports stuff lately. Even with Turco landing in Chicago and Modano going to Detroit, I decided to skip blogging about both of those hockey topics. Maybe I will. Maybe not. I'm going to talk baseball for a minute. Or several. ;)

FUCK YEAH GREENBERG-RYAN! Buh bye Tom Hicks. Now, to get the Stars sold so they can say buh bye to Hicks, too. I was seriously happy Greenberg and Ryan won the Rangers auction. Now, lets get the ball going, lol. I just.... Cuban? No thank you. Stick to the Mavericks buddy, please and thank you. Speaking of.....

The Rangers won against Seattle last night, 11-6. Not bad considering they were trailing 5-2 going into the 5th inning. ;) I would also like to point out that the Rangers now have an 8 game lead over the A's and an 8 (or 9? I don't want to go check, lol) game lead over the Angels holding down the top slot in the American League West. Now, lets hope they beat Seattle again tonight and keep adding wins on to those numbers. :D I just wish I actually got to watch most of the games. It's a bummer only having network TV sometimes, lol. Considering sports are the main thing I like to watch, no sports channels kills me, lol. Oh well, at least I can follow along thanks to the internet. :D

Oh and fuck me, Brandon Boyd (of Incubus fame) has a solo effort out. I fucking love him. His voice slays me. It's so lovely to my ears. I need to hear the rest of this CD. Maybe in a few weeks I'll be able to afford some frivolous little purchases again. :) For now, here's the song and odd but awesome video for "Runaway Train."

And just because, here's the song "Courage and Control" done to a nice little picture show.

Seriously... his voice.... *swoon* And yes, I love Incubus so much they get their own post label, lol. :D

Happy Thursday!
