Books, baseball, cooking, Weeds, etc....

Some things I'm loving right now....

  • Mixing equal parts apple juice, cranberry juice and pomegranate juice together. It tastes so good. And if you add liquor, it tastes even better. ;)
  • Tea Tree Oil Cooling Foot Scrub by Earth Therapeutics. I'm on my feet a LOT. I use this stuff a few times a week to keep my feet smooth and to help them feel better. This stuff soothes my aching, sore feet while also exfoliating them. Plus, it's only $4 at Target.
  • Weeds. The TV show, not the things that grow in the ground. The Boyfriend started watching it on NetFlix (on season 1, no cable so we had never seen it before) and I ended up getting sucked in to it. I love a lot of the characters and find the show pretty amusing so far. Though, we're only on season 2 for now so we'll see.
  • Burt's Bees Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil. It makes my lips feel awesomely soft and it smells good.
  • NetFlix. We don't have cable and I don't like most of the crap shows that come on network TV. NetFlix has movies, documentaries and shows I'm missing on Discovery and Food Network by not having cable. Also, Power Rangers, the original stuff. Totally reliving childhood with an episode here and there, lol.
  • Cooking. I've been stressing and worrying over a lot of things lately. Not to mention emotional stuff over some recent deaths that I'm still working through and other issues going on, I've just been having a rough time lately. Cooking is insanely therapeutic for me. I love being able to take a bunch of ingredients, put them together and create something that smells, looks and tastes wonderful.
  • The Rangers shutting out the Red Sox last night, lol. I hate the Red Sox. Any time we beat them makes me smile. Shutting them out makes me smile even more. Now if only the rest of the games in this series (and the next one, and on and on) go well for the Rangers, I'll continue being happy. Yay winning.
  • People sending me books. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE to read. I started a book exchange with a few friends who live out of state now and a couple people off Twitter. We send books around to each other and I've gotten to read a couple really good ones so far. Totally one of the best ideas I've ever had. :D

Allow me to unload on you...

I'm just going to type and clear some space in my mind. So if this gets boring, oh well. ;)

I've been sick for several days now. It's not the flu, just a pretty bad cold. I've even missed some work because of it and I freaking hate calling off work. I've been getting plenty of rest, lots of fluids, taking my medicine, eating soup; all the good stuff. I do sometimes miss being a little kid. Having someone take care of you when you're sick is awesome.

I've gotten 24 new followers on Twitter in the last 2 days. A few of them were bots, a few businesses but 15 of them were all real people. It's weird. I don't think I'm that interesting and honestly I mostly just tweet about hockey, sports in general, music sometimes and crap that annoys me. I think it's cool that I get so many followers and that so many people reply to stuff I say. I also get amused at some of the things people choose to retweet of mine. I posted this 5 days or so ago...

"
I hate the phrase FML. "Starbucks doesn't have the drink I wanted, FML!" Really, bc that's just the worst thing ever, right?! Oh the horror!"

And I had so many people retweeting it or quoting part of it. The cool thing about that is seeing how many people agree with something you say. Another funny part of that one specifically was the amount of people who I've seen saying "FML" over stupid shit that actually retweeted it also.

I really like gummy bears but I hate the gummy worms. I mean, they're essentially the same thing, right? Just a different shape. The worms feel more... dense. Not sure if that's the word I mean but I know what I mean. Maybe I just like the bears better because I feel more satisfaction from biting their little gummy heads off. Or something. :p

I totally appreciate how many people reached out to me over my post about my friend that's got the drug addiction. I got some really great comments, a couple nice DM's on Twitter and two really heart felt emails from two people in similar situations. Something I love about blogging is the interaction and finding people who understand what you're going through. I also like getting different insights and opinions on things, too. I'm a very social person in real life and I very much enjoy getting to know people online and sharing experiences, too. I just don't have as much free time for online interaction anymore.

I'm so bummed about not getting to go to the Stars/Canucks game on New Years Eve. I know it's a silly thing to be bummed about but I was really hoping we would get to go. I've never seen the Canucks and they're another team I need to tick off the list. My goal is to see every team in Dallas at least once. Some teams that's harder to achieve than others but I digress. I've seen Pittsburgh, Detroit, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Boston, Colorado, St. Louis, San Jose, Anaheim, Phoenix, Nashville, Minnesota, Columbus, Buffalo, New Jersey and the New York Islanders. I'm a little bit passed the halfway point but still have 13 teams I need to try and see, lol. I was hoping to add Vancouver to the list and knock that number down to 12. Maybe next time. ;)

YB's birthday is in 5 days. I can't believe my little brother is going to be 16 already. It seems like he was 5 not so long ago. Then again, that means in about 6 and 1/2 months, I'm going to be 26. Which is cool with me. I don't freak out about getting older. The only thing that annoys me is being 25 and still getting ID's for movies and such. I don't look 17 or 18, dammit. :p Though, if people keep thinking I'm 5+ years younger than I am, then I'm sure when I'm older I'll have an appreciation for people thinking I'm quite a bit younger than I really am.

One of my friends just got a Kindle and was offering to let me try it out. He thinks I need to get one. I can't afford one and also, I have no desire to have one. I LOVE BOOKS. I love to read. I like the smell of brand new books. I like the smell of fresh ink. I like the crack of a book that's never been opened before. I don't have an interest in digital versions of books. I don't get all the awesome things that go along with reading a book in a digital form. I might be a bit of a bibliophile... ;)

Two of my friends that have never met before met last night because they both stopped by to check on me since I haven't been feeling well. (My friends are awesome, btw ;D) Friend 1 then later was hanging about on Tumblr and found Friend 2's Tumblr through looking through my followers. Friend 1 then decided to dump 30 random questions into Friend 2's question box on Tumblr. In an attempt to get to know Friend 2 better. Some of the questions were...

"What would you save if you could save 5 items during a house fire? No worries about other people or pets, they all made it out already."

"If a purple chicken crossed the road in the snow, how many fried cupcakes are left in the barn?"

"Do you ever plan on having children? Why or why not?"

"What were you most afraid of as a child?"

"If a pink mushroom, a blue snake and a hot pink frog walked into a bar; how do you think people in the Church next door would react?"

And so on. A mix of good questions, dumb questions and completely ridiculous questions. Friend 2 was amused and a very good sport thus answering every question asked of him; ridiculous or otherwise. Friend 1 doesn't know it yet but when she logs on tomorrow, Friend 2 will have left her a shitload of good and equally ridiculous questions waiting for her. I like when people get along, though. So.. cool. :D

This reminds me. I really need to update the blog cast list, lol. I know some people hate nicknames but it's not my business to post my friend's and family member's real names on here. Just because I choose to blog and write about the people in my life at times doesn't mean I shouldn't respect their privacy. Be it by leaving out details about them to not using their real names, etc. I hate when people think that's being "chicken shit" because.... seriously? Fuck off. It's about being respectful of their privacy. I usually ask in the first place if it's okay to write about someone. I have a few friends that I'd love to share some stories about on here but since I asked and they said they would rather I didn't, I don't get to share those awesome stories I want to. Which is fine, I come up with enough stuff to write about anyway, lol. Just because I choose to write about myself and my life publicly doesn't mean I get free range to talk about everyone in my life, too. At least, that's my opinion on it.

I think that's enough rambling for me. Also, took Nyquil a little bit ago and now I'm getting super sleepy. (No, not at 7 AM, lol. I'm writing this at 1 AM but setting it to post at 7, lol.) And I just realized I got a cough drop out ten minutes ago and I've been holding it between my lips since then. Probably need to put it to work now, lol.

Happy Thursday!

I wanna put you in a song....

Rangers VS Yankees Game 4 of the ALCS was last night. Rangers won 10-3. Which puts them up 3-1 over those Yankees. One more win for my Rangers and they're going to the World Series. How fucking exciting is that?! Well, unless you're a Rangers fan, I suppose it's not incredibly spectacular. For me (and other Rangers fans) it's FUCKING GRAND. :D

I posted this picture on my Tumblr last night:

Broken camera glass makes for some really badass shots.

I worked during the game so I didn't get to see much of it. I saw bits and pieces up until the last 30 minutes of the game when I finally got to focus on it. Damn work, getting in the way of my ALCS enjoyment. :p

Game 5 is at 2 PM. If the Rangers win, they'll knock out the Yankees and be in the World Series. The game will be played in NY. Winning it at home in Texas would be cooler but as long as they win, I'll be happy. It would be pretty sweet to knock NY out in NY. Of course, there's still a chance that the Yankees will make a come back. Go Rangers! :D

I got home from work last night around 11 PM. I got a shower and put in some Boy Meets World. I got Season 1 & 2 for $10 from Best Buy. The Boyfriend is working the 5 pm to 2 am shift at his job for the next couple months so I was looking for something to keep amused that didn't take much thought or effort. I always need to chill a couple hours after work to decompress. Even if I'm tired as hell, I still can't go to bed right away. It's funny watching shows I loved as a kid now that I'm an adult. I pick up on all the slight innuendos and adult humor subtly hidden in the dialog of the show. :D

I would like some book recommendations. I don't like romance or mystery books. I prefer sci-fi, fantasy, horror, sports, fiction, non-fiction, biographies, true crime and pretty much anything that isn't too fluffy. So, if you're reading a good book right now or have a favorite you love to rave about; feel free to pass along the title and author's name this way. :D

I love cupcakes, muffins, plaid, Crunch Berries, Edgar Allen Poe poetry, pomegranate lemonade, vanilla scented candles, clear lip gloss, history, knee high socks, How To Train Your Dragon, Orbit BubbleMint gum, crunchy peanut butter, penguins, Tumblr and flip flops. Among other things. ;)

If you haven't already, make sure you check out the fundraiser post here. Please and thank you! It only takes a few dollars to make a difference and help someone out. :)

Happy Wednesday!

I could not kiss, just regress...

Thanks to everyone that commented on this post. I appreciate the comments and the couple e-mails I got in response to it. I don't appreciate the negative comments that are full of name calling and insults. If you left those, they didn't get posted, obviously. I don't mind people disagreeing with me. Not one bit. However, calling me a bitch and telling me I have my head stuck up a camel's ass along with a sleuth of other random and giggle inducing insults? Not going to publish that shit. Disagree with me all you want but articulate your point without being insulting and rude.

I NEED SOME SECRETS for my Saturday posts. :D If you want to submit a secret for me to use next weekend (COME ON, DON'T BE SHY! :D) then just e-mail it to me: amorousrocker [at] gmail [dot] com. Or leave it as a comment here anonymously if you want to do it that way and I'll copy it and use it for next weekend's Secrets post. ;)

I posted that picture on my Tumblr yesterday after I saw it posted on Laken's Tumblr. I love rainbows and with the angle of the picture and the road covered with stuff fresh after some rain? It just looks beautiful to me.

I started reading "Alice In Wonderland" again a few days ago. I haven't read that book in years but decided I wanted to re-read it. It's still one of my favorites. I love that I haven't read it in so long but still remember most of it. Though, some bits I forgot so it's nice when I get to a part I don't remember. I've also been reading Edgar Allen Poe again here lately. I think it's been a good 6 months since I picked up a poetry book and read. I always feel like drawing after I read Poe. Not sure why. It just inspires me creatively in an odd way. :D

I tweeted this yesterday: "People almost always react funny when I say I don't particularly like bacon. I'm not a pork person. I don't like the meat Babe has to offer." I immediately got some joking tweets about people not being able to like me, love me or be online buddies with me any longer because I'm not a big fan of bacon. I got one tweet from someone who could relate. Then two more from people who don't eat any meat. I never quite get what the big deal about not liking bacon is. When I was younger, I LOVED it. I stopped liking it around the time I started working a job as a teenager where I worked around bacon and smelled it ALL THE TIME. After smelling it and seeing it so much, I didn't like it as much and only ate it on burgers. Then, I went from working around it and smelling it to actually getting to cook the bacon once I was working the opening shift. More than a pound of it. 6 mornings a week. I already didn't like it but that? Totally put me off of it. I just amuses me (and admittedly baffles a little bit, too) how people react to me not liking bacon. Like it's some sort of mortal crime or something. I could say I dislike sausage (which I do, seriously, not a pork person) and it doesn't get near the reaction not liking the All Mighty Bacon gets. People are crazy about bacon. *nods*

Musical Monday video for today? "Glycerine" by Bush. They have been one of my favorite bands since I was 14 and first heard one of their songs on the radio. I really enjoy their songs. I like and relate to a lot of what their songs are about. Also? I LOVE Gavin Rossdale's beautiful voice. *swoon*

Happy Monday!

You're so polite, indeed....

I love grocery shopping. Normally. I like grocery shopping late at night or really early in the morning. Any other time? When there are a good bit of people or a lot of people in there shopping too? I don't like it so much. I end up wanting to grab a bunch of grapes and sitting them up in the front of the shopping cart. Then whenever someone is being rude, I want to run them down with my shopping cart and then pelt them with grapes as I dance by with my shopping cart giggling gleefully. Or possibly I'll be laughing maniacally. ;) Seriously. There's no reason for people to be so fucking rude. Everyone has stressful days. Everyone has bad days. Everyone wakes up on the wrong side of the bed now and then. Everyone has to do something they hate but can't avoid because it's necessary; which for some is grocery shopping. No need to be a pain in the ass, rude motherfucker or outright snotty bitch to other random people just trying to buy their groceries as well. I know, some people are just bitches and rude snotty fuckheads by nature. They can't help it, that's the way they are, blah blah blah. So yeah, if you're ever grocery shopping one day and some chick with big boobs rams you with her shopping cart and then pelts you with grapes well laughing maniacally.... you'll know who it was and you won't have to wonder why. Granted, it'll probably put that person in a worse mood but oh well... chill the fuck out and stop taking out your moods and emotions on random people.

I'm still not done with the Laurell K. Hamilton book. I got "Skin Trade" shortly after it came out but every single time I sit down to read some, something happens. Then I have to put the book down and do other stuff. Then I forget and then remember later. Then I pick it up to read. Then the power goes out. Fuck man. Then I pick it up again, then it's time to head out because I forgot we were going to a birthday dinner because I was more concerned with my book and finding out if some sack of shit gets his throat torn out or now. Then I think about reading again but then my Nintendo DS sends out it's mind control vibes and I pick it up instead. Then I end up playing that for an hour or two because it's addicting and soul sucking and I can't stop easily once I start. Then I think about the book again and I pick it up. I'm reading along and all of the sudden, my eyelids are drooping low and pretty much refusing to stay open. What's that? Sleep you say? Now I've read 3 pages and I'm pushing to get at least one chapter done so I force my eyes open and press on. I wake up a little while later with the book sitting in the floor, my page lost and me giving up so I can go back to sleep for real this time. I'm dying to flippin' finish it, lol. I only have 82 pages left to go though so my goal is to have it finished before I go to bed tonight. Wish me luck! Lol.

Little known fact about my musical tastes? I LOVE the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I don't mention them a lot for whatever reason, I don't know why honestly. So so many of their songs just speak to me in a lot of ways. I can relate to a lot of the lyrics and I like how they have a sound all their own. Though, I used to not like them and then I started doing drugs and they were good music to sit and listen to when you're sick of listening to Sublime and want something chill to listen to, lol. I stopped doing drugs and still kept liking their music though. Anyway, here are two of my favorite songs by them.

Happy Monday!

Purple polish stains the white floor...

I watched Death To Smoochy last night for the first time in a long time. I love that movie. I love the Irish Mafia characters, especially Tommy, she cracks me up. It's a pretty ridiculous movie and a little odd but I just love it.

My boyfriend and I took YB to see Ice Age 3 last week. I liked it. YB liked it. Boyfriend liked it. I love the Ice Age movies though. I dig most of the characters and seriously, the baby dinosaurs that Sid tried to take over in this movie? They're too freaking adorable. I know, they're just cleverly animated cute little things but still, adorable as fuck. And the character Buck? Rocks. Just sayin'.

My boyfriend heads back to Texas this weekend. So sad. I wish he didn't have to go but alas he must. It's been great getting to spend time with him. I think it's only going to be a couple months before we see each other again. Here's hoping for that anyway. A couple months feels so much longer being 2,000 miles away from each other. Hopefully that won't be the case much longer though. *fingers crossed*

I've been playing Sims on my DS too much. It's so fun though. So is LEGO Batman. And Guitar Hero. I love my DS.

I've been playing my DS too much though because I've been slightly neglecting the new Laurell K. Hamilton book I've had for a while now. I'm only 85 pages in but the book came out in early June so yeah, lol.  Normally, I would have probably been halfway through the book. So far, I'm liking it though. I can't believe it's book 17 in the Anita Blake series though. Fucking hell, I didn't realize I had read so many of those damn things.

My laptop battery is about to die and I'm not going to plug it up. I've been up almost 22 hours now so I'm going to take my ass to bed and get some sleep.

Happy Tuesday!

If you're out of direction...

I got the book "Supersex" by Tracey Cox sent to me by the wonderful people at Tabu Toys recently.

It's a soft cover book with a sexy cover. Just a look at the cover and a flip through the glossy pages had m anxious to see what the book had to offer.

The book starts with instructions on how to touch your partner. It's really basic stuff. For me, I took nothing new away from it. For someone new to exploring sex or just someone shy or inexperienced, it would be great.

Same goes for the next section on teasing your lover. Nicely written but very basic. In the tease section, there's a few pages on Single Sex Vs Couple Sex. That whole thing just annoyed me greatly. I found the ideas in it to be mostly ridiculous in my own opinions. Sure, for a lot of people I'm sure it's true but for me? Ridiculous. Example?

"The downside of couple sex is being stuck in a bad sex cycle. If you're single and have bad sex, you can walk away and try your luck elsewhere. If you're married or in a relationship, you're stuck with it. Even worse, you're forced to do what everyone dreads: work on the relationship. (Ughh!) "

Really? It's dreadful to work on a relationship? In my opinion, the only way to successfully make a long term relationship work is to put effort into it and work on things when they get rough. Be it in the bedroom or any other thing. Relationships take work to make them go. If you dread doing things to better your relationship, maybe you need to re-evaluate things. Just my opinion.

Also, the book talks about how couples have "sensationally soppy spoon sex, sex where you both laugh yourselves stupid and sex where you both stop halfway through, hug fiercely, and say, "God, I love you!" While singles have more variety, more options and aren't stuck with the same things over and over. I don't find that to be true either because I've got three years with my guy under the belt and we still have some amazing, exciting, unique moments. I know we're not the only ones. The idea that couples all fall into having the same boring sex after a certain point to me seems ridiculous.

Then there's the guide on how to strip. I read it and I giggled through out it. If someone stripped for me the way the book instructs, I would laugh because it seems more like a script for a scene in a movie. Or maybe I'm simplistic in the way I dress as I don't go out wearing skirts, heels, garter belts, hose and the whole shebang for a normal day out. Of course if you plan in advance to be doing this strip show later, wearing all of that would make sense. It also seems too cliche and a bit over done though and that for me takes away some of the strip tease appeal.I like something that doesn't look like it was planned down move by move.

Something else that irked me was that as a woman, you ABSOLUTELY HAVE to give a man blowjobs. If you don't he will lose interest and move on to someone who will. Or if you're in a relationship, he'll just get from someone else the blowjob you're not giving him. According to the book. Sounds silly to me. Maybe if you're just dating around and not serious with someone, possibly that works. In a marriage or long term relationship? If that's a deal break then.... *sigh*

The "sure-thing sex positions" displayed in another section of the book look pretty cool though they aren't anything new and spectacular. You need to be in good shape to do most of them though and though they look cool, I'm not sure how good they would be for a prolonged period of time. Worth trying perhaps but I think I'll be passing on most of them. Some look more painful than pleasurable and others look like they'll be more effort to get into than they would be worth, lol.

Something else that annoyed me throughout the book? Seeing things like this. "sennnnnnsational", "Imagine how I felt!!!!!!", "Oooooowwwweeeeee" and stuff like that. I think on a blog, that's cool. I get the author was just trying to sell a point, just how good or bad something was but I don't know. It's not something I expect to see in a published book. I'm possibly just being a bit if a grammar nazi though.

At the start of the book in the introduction, the author states that it would be a good book whether you're heterosexual, homosexual or bisexual. I don't find that to be very true. It offers only pictures of a male and a female together. All the tips and scenarios are her pleasing him or him pleasing her. It doesn't offer anything specifically geared to anyone who isn't straight and doesn't cover anything about being the slightest bit curious about your own gender.

Also, there is a whole section that tells you how to analyze if a person is good in bed by paying attention to how they touch you, how the eat and drink and things like that. Seriously? I'm a very polite eater. I enjoy my food but I don't delve into it with crazy abandon. If one were to judge how I am in bed by watching me eat, they would think I was boring in bed mostly and occasionally sensual. I'm not the slightest bit boring so I found that section a bit bogus to say the least. I believe we can learn a lot from body language, daily interactions and from watching people act but I don't think that's applicable to everything.

The writer is a bit witty and shares a few personal stories through out the book. The things she shared tended to be a little amusing but it's always nice (in my opinion) to read about the lighter, amusing side of sex.

I had a difficult time finishing this book. I had to really push myself to finish reading several of the sections and more so I had to stop myself from skimming briefly instead of really reading it. I find a lot of things in the book to be black and white and in my opinion, there are a lot of grey areas to sex, intimacy, relationships, etc. It is informative and there is a ton of information in it. The book details a lot of things and covers a wide variety of topics including teasing, masturbation, oral sex, insecurities with your body, kinks and playing with sex toys. Though it doesn't get too in depth with a lot of subjects, just covers to basics and gets you a good idea of what you need to know. Other sections are very in depth. Despite all the depth and the wide variety of subjects, I still find the book overall to be a little one sided, black and white, whatever you want to call it.

It wasn't all bad though.

The book did have some decent information in it regarding male and female anatomy. It also had some good information about what's going on with your body during sex and explains a more technical sense of what's going on. It also covers some psychological points from male and female prospectives. Though some of the points seem like general assumptions more than anything. Lot of the decent points in the book are pretty much common sense though.

Also there is a section that answers some very popular embarrassing questions about sex, relationships and the body. That was amusing to read but nothing that hasn't really been covered before. The way the author responded to the questions was comical though, in a good way.

I also liked that it had a section covering sex toys and using them with a partner but that isn't a long section and doesn't cover much at all. It would have been better had more information been provided about toys and safety concerns.

There are some good tips here and there through out the book. Simple things though, in my opinion.

The pictures in it, and there are tons, are the most appealing thing about the book. The book has fantastic pictures in it and I found myself often distracted by studying them. Given the trouble I had finishing the book, the distraction wasn't bad.

I did like how everything was broken down in to sections. The structure of the set up is pretty cool. It flows easily from section to section and again, the pictures rock.

Personally, I might thumb through certain sections again but I probably won't touch this book again now that I'm done reading it for this review. I didn't learn anything new from it's 180+ pages though but I've read, explored and experienced a LOT. For someone younger and new to exploring things it would be great. A beginner how to book with lots of artful and stunning pictures. It reads a lot, in my opinion, like a huge compilation of sex and how to articles out of Cosmopolitan magazine. Just with more details and erotic pictures. I give it a 3 on a scale of 1 to 10.

Thanks to Tabu Toys for the book! Oh and if you enjoy reading or participating in online forums, check out the Tabu Forums here!

Even in madness I know you still believe....

Playing the piano is very relaxing to me. I love to play. The music fills my mind and my soul. Stress and tension flows out of my body as my fingers glide across the keys. Listening to someone play well is just as relaxing. I love listening to a piano being played and could listen for hours. Laying out somewhere, eyes closed, just letting the music wash over me and tickle my senses. My iPod has a few instrumental pieces that contain piano compositions. I have a mix of classical music as well. I find the piano to be the most soothing, relaxing and beautiful of any instrument. The violin is beautiful too. I love laying in bed, eyes closed, ear buds in with soothing music pouring out into my ears when I'm finding it difficult to sleep. When I have too much on my mind and that causes sleep to escape me, I can count on the soothing sounds to help me fall asleep. They relax me so much and if I let the music fill my head, focus only on that, it distracts me long enough to help me fall blissfully into slumber.

I get to see my boyfriend soon! Which is awesome, of course. I get to spend time with him and go out to do some things I don't do normally. Pretty much, I work and hang out at home out here. Not so fun, lol.

I also get to go to the beach soon. Boyfriend and I will be going at some point when he's here. I'm sure the water is still going to be a bit cold but I bet I'll find myself in it anyway. ;) I don't go to the beach and not get in the water at least a little bit. I'll have to remember to take my camera for some awesome pictures too.

I was writing a book full of short stories for a while and then I stopped. I wasn't happy with it and was convinced I wouldn't get anyone to buy it anyway. Some insanely encouraging people have me feeling better about that though. Also, I want to try again. Part of my giving it up was a fear I would just fail. Never completing what I started is a failure in itself to me though. If I finish it, at least I finished what I started and at least I tried.

My birthday is exactly a month away. WOW! Lol.

I'll be 24 and people still think I look like a teenager. At the concert Wednesday night, I got patted down by the security woman while they let my mom pass. She said my mom didn't look dangerous. My mom asked if I looked dangerous. The woman replied, "At that age, they are all dangerous." My mom told the woman I was almost 24 and the woman did a double take and didn't believe my mom. Once my age was confirmed, she just shook her head and said, "Lucky her!" I get carded to buy R-rated movies in Wal-Mart. I've been carded to buy cough syrup before since you know, high school kiddos get high guzzling DayQuil. I have issues at times when I want to buy liquor depending on the store and how strict they are about being lawful and carding people. I almost always get carded for cigarettes. I have never once got carded in sex toy stores adult novelty shops though despite being with others who have been carded the moment they walked through the door, lol.

Hockey time! Boston and Anaheim were both eliminated yesterday. It's down to the Hurricanes and the Penguins in the East and the Red Wings and the Blackhawks in the West. I hope the Canes get the east and for the West, I'm actually having a hard time deciding which team I want to see make it to the fight for Stanley. Sad stuff though, hockey is about over. We have one more round in the playoffs to go through to knock out two more teams and then the other two will battle it out for the Stanley. Then one team will win and hockey will be done this season. Sadness I tell you!

The Mavericks got knocked out in Round two of the NBA Playoffs by fucking Denver. Not talking about that. At least we got passed round one this season though. AND we knocked out the Spurs in round one to get to round two so HA! I know the Spurs are a Texas team too but I can't stand them. Hell fucking yes for knocking out the Spurs and making it to round two! Even if we lost in round two, lol.

And......

That's all y'all!

Happy Friday!

But the old me is dead and gone....

I'm a little nerdy. I love science fiction and fantasy novels and movies. I think I figured out the reason why the Twilight books don't much appeal to me. I know they're marketed towards teens and youngsters but I know PLENTY of adults in their 20's up into their 50's who are just as obsessed or taken in with the Twilight series as any dreamy 16 year old. I don't think they're bad but I don't get the obsession over them. I'll stick with my Laurell K Hamilton books. Anita Blake and her crew would totally prevail in a fight with the Twilight characters. Just sayin'. ;) Anyway, I got myself sidetracked there. I dig the vampire, were animal, mythological creature and all around monsters kind of shit.

Also, I love video games. My DS is probably one of the coolest gifts my boyfriend has ever given me. I also love his PS2 because the Devil May Cry games are some of the coolest games ever made, in my opinion. I also stumble upon silly little games online that I like to play. So in true beggar fashion, I'm going to request y'all to please check out this link for me and sign up.

MsRummy on MyBrute!

I need more pupils to progress in the game faster. You have to use that link to sign up though in order to help me out. It will take you to a page that has VS Ms Rummy on it and you just type in whatever name you want to name your character, change the look and go from there. So if you'll kindly click that link and take one minute to do the easy sign up (that doesn't even require an e-mail address) you would be helping me and my nerdy game loving self out. Pretty please? Hey, you might even dig the game yourself. It's not much actually. It's an amusing way to kill 5 minutes a day. Oh and you can totally fight my little character too. ;) Or you can just sign up, help me out and then never touch it again. Either way, I would appreciate it and you would be a super awesome person. *grin* If you are one of the awesome people who I manage to convince to sign up through my lame begging then feel free to let me know who you are so I know who my pupils are. Or you can be snazzy like Bella Dreamer and sign up using your blog identity. ;)

So, I came to the realization today that even after being together for almost 3 years, Boyfriend and I have never had "angry sex" at all. Not once. I've had it before with others but with him? Nope. Even with my bad temper, it's never happened. He doesn't get angry often. It just doesn't happen. He's not an angry person and he's got a world of patience. He's a seriously laid back and mellow kind of guy. And when I'm pissed, he ends up upset (usually if I'm pissed at him) or staying out of my way because it's the smart thing to do. Or, he tries to just rationally calm me down to the best of his abilities. Which he does pretty decently by either making me laugh or just shoving some mellow off on me.

We're insanely alike in a lot of ways and we have a truck load of things in common. We also have things one of us likes and the other one can't stand. (IE He likes the Beastie Boys, I can't stand them. I love techno, trance and stuff like that and he's not the biggest fan of that kind of music.) Then we have our personality differences. A few instances being that he's calm, mellow and laid back. I'm energetic, feisty and out going. He can have fun sitting at home and doing nothing. I like to be out and about going going going and doing doing doing. In our differences though, we tend to compliment each other. I'm a little less loud and crazy and don't mind spending a night sitting at home not doing much. I used to get stir crazy doing that and just couldn't stand it. I don't feel the need to go out every night anymore. Him, who was perfectly content to sit around all the time likes to go out a bit more and do more things. It's cool because we're enough alike in our personalities and interests that we get along wonderfully but not so much alike that we drive each other batshit crazy.

At work last night, I got to wait on a group of guys. Some basketball players and their coaches. They had a check that was almost $100. One of the coaches was paying for all the food and paid with a credit card. It took me three trips to get all their stuff out to them and I got them every thing they needed and I made sure they had plenty of napkins (because you know, hungry teenage boys are kinds messy ;)) and checked on them a couple times to make sure all was well. No tip though. They were nice enough to clean up their tables though. I was so not looking forward to that since the first time I walked by there were napkins and junk all over the place. They cleaned up once they were done eating though. I did appreciate that.
It's always nice when someone cleans up their own mess as much as they can. I fucking hate it when a customer leaves and you have to go clean their table and find ranch smeared on it, pieces of food here and there, lettuce strewn from here to there, other various toppings mashed and stuffed in places, sticky substances that you're not sure about, food dropped all over the ground, condiments dropped on the ground on purpose, dessert toppings smeared on the tables and dropped on the floor, shredded up napkins and all kinds of other crap. Seriously, would you do that shit in your house? Do you not realize that someone has to clean up that disgusting mess you just made? I know it's part of the job we get paid to do but you don't need to go out of your way to make a big mess just because you don't have to be the one to clean it up.

Also last night at work, this woman asked me if I could bring her some honey. We don't have honey actually. NOTHING on our menu requires honey so, we don't have it. Looking at their meals, I was perplexed on what she would need honey for. Given her and her dining companions had various things, all different from the other. A burger with chili fries, a salad, a grilled chicken sandwich, plain fries and all of them drinking sodas. I asked what she wanted the honey for. She wanted it for her french fries. She liked to mix ketchup and honey together. I laughed and said that sounded odd. She said, "They mix is with mustard for honey mustard so why not mix it with ketchup for honey ketchup? It's good, you need to try it!" Then we had a small discussion about what I did eat honey on. She said she would try honey on fried chicken if I would try honey and ketchup mixed together. So, I did try honey and ketchup mixed together once I got home. I had a feeling it wasn't going to be much. I figured at most it was only going to make the ketchup sweeter and maybe have a hint of the honey flavor in it. I was right. Wasn't too bad either. If you want to eat sweet ketchup. I wouldn't go out of my way to mix it up and eat it again but meh, it wasn't the worst thing I've tried. I've tried some awful concoctions too. I have a ridiculous very healthy curiosity that can be rather terrible at times. I have to try almost everything. If it's new, I want to try it. I've tried some foods I knew would be disgusting but tried them anyway because hey, you never really know unless you try. Of course, I believe there are some exceptions. Some things (animal brains, insects, cow tongue) just don't appeal to me at all and I have no interest in trying. Given my curiosity, if I have no urge to try it just because I've never tried it before, it's not happening. If I can't wrap my mind around wanting to try it just for curiosity or experience sake, it won't happen, lol.

Last but not least, here are some helpful but mostly complete bullshit tips from yours truly.

-When putting eye drops in your eyes, keep your mouth shut. Just in case your aim is a little off or just in case you happen to flinch. Visine in your mouth is not the best thing to put in there.

-TAKE YOUR SOCKS OFF before YOU GET IN THE SHOWER.

-Sadly, duct tape does not fix everything. What can't be fixed with duct tape, is lost beyond saving. Throw it away and replace it immediately.

-Internet stalking is still stalking. Back away from the keyboard before your interweb privileges get revoked.

-Texting yourself to tell yourself you need to go home because you're out too late and have to be up early for work is actually not as good an idea as it sounds. Upon reading the text, you're likely to rebel against yourself and stay out later just to spite yourself. You're so independent and strong willed, you take orders from no one. Not even yourself.

She's my cherry pie...

I want to see Public Enemies. Johnny Depp and Christian Bale in a movie about fucking John Dillinger? Hell yes. I have such a hard on thing for 1930's gangster goings on. I always find the bad guys so intriguing apparently. Sometimes sick and appalling but I always find myself wondering why they did what they did. Why they do what they do. My fascination with serial killers, mob crime and all kinds of things of that nature really just stems from a want to dissect and understand what compels a person to do such things. Anyway, that's another topic for another day. I really hope the movie doesn't suck. At least if it does suck, I have Depp and Bale to feast my eyes on. ;)

Oh and Tim Burton doing Alice in Wonderland? That should be interesting. I really, really dig Tim Burton. Of course, y'all know that already. Unless you're new to the blog. Then you didn't know that but you do now, lol.

I really want to read "The Razor's Edge" by W. Somerset Maugham again. I haven't read that one in quite a while and feel like reading it. Only problem being I can't find my copy of the book. I think it's probably in a box in storage somewhere or it's one of the casualties of moving that has gotten lost. In which case I'll have to track down a new copy of the book.

I got tagged by the lovely and entertaining Lil Bit with that 8 Things tag y'all possibly seen floating around. I don't resist the tags. I'm a sucker for them apparently. Though I haven't been tagged for anything in quite a while actually, lol.

I'll end this all before it gets me...

FYI: Don't be a snotty bitch to the people who serve you your food and drinks. I get that a lot of people look down on people in the service industry. Food service being one of them. People also look down on their garbage men, house cleaners, street sweepers, plumbers and other people who provide a daily service. Take away those service workers and what happens then? You have to cook your own damn meals all the time. You have to figure out what to do with your own garbage. You have to go out of your way to get your recyclables where they belong. You better figure out how you make your toilet stop over flowing while you're at it before your bathroom floods with toilet water. Those people provide a service. It's not the most glamorous job and it's likely not the one they thought they would end up with. It's hard work and it makes a paycheck. It also doesn't mean the person doing it is lazy, stupid or without motivation to do better. To me, doing a crummy job is better than those who sit and don't work. Those who sit and draw money from else where. Don't look down on all people in the service industry. Sure there are the ones doing it to coast by because they don't care to do better. So what? If it doesn't personally hurt you, let them be. You're not better than them just because they're serving you food, fixing your drinks, picking up your trash, fixing your toilets and so on. Be appreciative when it's deserved and drop that snotty, superior attitude please and thank you.

*Ahem* =)

I have a new toy review that I plan to start working on very. It's only my second review but it shouldn't be too hard. I haven't got to use the toy yet but I shall have a chance soon to bust it out. I'm excited about this one too. It looks... interesting. You'll have to wait for the review to find out what it is though. ;)

I can't find my digital camera. I just had it last night too. That's annoying.

I can't find the book I was reading either. Also very annoying. It's the 4th in a series by Rob Thurman and I was only about 100 pages (or there about) in to this one. Now it's gone missing and that's unfortunate because it's damn good. I have no clue where it went. I do know it didn't sprout a pair of legs and go wander off though. It pisses me off when my stuff just kind of "disappears" from where I've had it sitting for several days. I would accuse Boyfriend of snatching it since I got him hooked on the series. Except he's 2,000 miles away so he's innocent. This time. *grin*

So... I fucking love Seether. Many of my post titles are lyrics from various songs of theirs. I know I've posted about my adoration for Shaun Morgan, posted their videos and yapped about them and their music on here several times before. I have to say it again, they're one of my favorite bands and have been for several years. When I saw them with Nickelback, I was surprised at the lack of interest the overall crowd had in Seether. Then I wasn't so surprised. Nickelback and Seether are both rock but they're not exactly the same type of rock. I can see how people who really dig Nickelback wouldn't be into Seether as much. I like Seether way better. When it came to buying a shirt, the tour tee I got was a Seether tee. I could only afford to get one for myself and it was easy to decide what band I was going for, lol. I've seen Seether twice live now. The thing about them is that Shaun has a wonderful voice. He sounds the same if not better live than he does when you hear the music off their album. He lacks stage presence though which I think is why a lot of folks at the Nickelback show weren't so into them. They don't do flashy lights and big pyrotechnics. Not yet anyway. They basically get up their, play their music, slightly interact with the crowd and do a couple nifty things with lights. The thing about me? I'll take a band with talent who sings their music with passion over a flashy stage show any day. It's great when a band (like Nickelback) can put on a good stage show and be able to sing their music without looking like robotics. I'm not losing interest in a band just because they don't woo the crowd with their wit and fireworks though. I read on a message board some people at the show were disappointed in Seether because all they did was come out and sing their music essentially. Why is that a bad thing? Anyone care to explain that to me? I don't understand it. I don't understand it because the stage show isn't what's important to me. I'm there for the music. You wanna put on a flashy show, that's cool too, I can dig that and enjoy it too. Nickelback's pyrotechnics were bad ass and Chad Kroeger's charming little persona was amusing too but if they stripped that all away, I'd probably still enjoy the show as long as he still sang well and they still played well.

Anyway, this song is off Seether's most recent album. It's one of my favorite songs by them overall. I might have even posted it already but I didn't want to go back through my music posts and see if I had posted it or not, lol.

I won't play the fool to you, not this time or ever again...

I went and got some new books from Barnes & Noble on Wednesday. I had set out to just get one. "Deathwish" by Rob Thurman. It's the fourth book in the series. I loved the first three so hopefully this one is just as good as the others.

While browsing the science fiction/fantasy section after picking up the Thurman book, I remembered something I wanted to look for. I found it too. "Neverwhere" by Neil Gaiman. I got this because a friend of mine who lives across the pond told me about her enjoyment of the television series when she watched it. I Googled it of course to learn more about it and learned there were books. I finally remembered to look and found it. I thumbed through and it seemed interesting. Plus, if it sucks, it's only 6 bucks wasted.

The third one I got pretty much on a whim. "The Meaning Of Night. A Confession" by Michael Cox. I didn't know a thing about this one. I was walking by slowly, in the fiction and literature section, not really looking for anything at all. Just perusing to eat up time while I waited. I saw the cover of this one and it caught my attention.

I picked it up and read the description. "So begins the story of Edward Glyver, booklover, scholar and murderer." Of course, that line alone interested me enough to flip open the book and check it out. Though the way it was worded annoyed me a little but oh well. =) So I opened it up and the first line in the book is, "After killing the red-haired man, I took myself off to Quinn's for an oyster supper." I smiled and kept going. I read the first several pages then flipped ahead about a hundred pages and picked a random point to begin reading again. I read another couple pages and flipped ahead. I read a few paragraphs and decided that I wanted to get it. I'll probably read this one first. I have a book to finish but I should be done with that one rather quickly. =)

So, I'm curious. How do you pick out the books you buy to read for leisure? Do you have set authors you only stick to? Are you part of a book club? Do you have a book buddy who you take recommendations from? Do you spend long amounts of time browsing the aisles, skimming books until you find one that piques your interest? For me, it's a combination of things. I have the authors that I always love to read. Stephen King, Alex Kava, Laurell K. Hamilton, just to name a few off the decent sized list of my favorites. Then I have a few good friends who have similar tastes in books and we discuss new books we buy or new books recommended by others. I also just browse and pick books up at random, hoping they hold my interest. Usually, I pick pretty well too. I rarely make a book purchase I want to kick my ass for later. =)

Happy Friday!
Have a great weekend y'all!
psst, Saturday Survey will be up tomorrow. ;)

Just open your eyes and see that life if beautiful...

I'm kind of really excited because I'm getting a new cell phone! My first one with the full QWERTY keyboard crap. Woohoo right? I had to get a new one anyway because my former craptastic decent cell phone is acting up. It likes to turn itself off ten or twenty times a day. Likes to not send text messages. Miss calls. Delete voicemails I haven't got to listen to yet. All kinds of awesome less than great shit. I'm getting the Samsung Propel. In this lovely badass red color. It's already been purchased, just have to wait until it arrives in the mail in a few days.

The even more awesome thing is that I didn't have to pay $250 or more for it. That would suck. Luckily, it didn't cost quite that much for me because I'm a lucky girl. =)

Yesterday afternoon, I was cleaning out some bags and found a book I got but hadn't read. I forgot about picking it up. I remember getting it though, a few months ago, lol. "Magic To The Bone" by Devon Monk. The cover had been what caught my eye. I had never heard of the author before so I checked out the book description then flipped through the book a little, reading a little here and there. It sounded interesting enough so I got it. I figure it was only $6 so if it sucked, oh well. Anyway, I pulled it out and decided to sit down and start it. I only got maybe 20 pages into it but so far, I'm liking it. That doesn't mean much though. I've read books where I get a quarter of the way through it and then I go a little further and it starts sucking. Then further still and I lose interest. Sometimes I can read along through books like that. I don't want to really but I can't stop because even though it sucks, I want to know what else happens and how things end. Then some books start out great but then there gets to be too much love and romance mixed in with it and I lose interest. I can deal with a little of that but if I wanted to read a romance novel, I'd buy one of those over the thrillers and sci-fi books that I do get. Anyway, we'll see how this one goes but hopefully I keep liking it. It seems interesting so far and I hope it stays that way.

Monday night, work stayed steady for the most part. Then the rain got heavier, it got colder and people freaked out and ran into their homes. Locked the door and said goodnight to the outside. Then work got very boring, very quickly. I got off like 45 minutes earlier than scheduled. Not complaining either. I went to Wally World after that. I had some stuff to buy. Hair stuff, new hair brush, new facial cleanser, this this and that. (Side note: They BADLY need an Ulta in these parts. I needed some hair stuff and it's not something Wally World would even carry. Ulta, I miss you, you have spoiled me. Thank you on-line shopping though.) Then I decided I wanted to go buy two new pillows. I like something that's firm but soft and comfy as well. They have these ones I like and they're a little expensive but not so much. It's Wally World, they don't have luxury 50 dollar pillows so it wasn't too bad price wise. I wouldn't pay 50 bucks for a single pillow anyway. Unless it could massage my scalp, neck and shoulders then maybe I'd consider it. No, for 50 it should do that and make me coffee. Mmm. A coffee making pillow would be strange though. How would you like to wake up with your pillow sliding out from under you, waddling down the hall and into the kitchen. Then you walk in there and there's your pillow, chillin' on the counter making some coffee. Kind of weird. I digress. I got way excited about my new pillow purchase. I like a lot of pillows on my bed. I don't mean those frilly ridiculous deco pillows either. Sorry, I think those things are dumb for the most part. If I'm buying a pillow and stacking it on my bed, I want something soft and comfortable that I will actually use and enjoy. Not some embroidered or rockin' designed thing I'm just going to have on there to look good. Anyway, I had two pillows I wanted to get rid of because they're old and limp. They're dead. Time to get rid of them and move on down the dream road. So, I spent 20 something on two new ones. I was happy pulling the pillow cases off the two old ones and shimmying them onto the new ones. They're soooo awesome. I haven't even used them yet but I had to lean on them while I was laying in the floor watching a movie. I'm happy. Oh and I got some cute as hell little rainbow colored boxer shorts on clearance for $3. They're as cute as a fluffy little non-rabid bunny.

I love the Redbox rental DVD thing. It's like 1.07 once they add the tax onto the $1 part and seriously. Netflix isn't even that cheap. Blockbuster's and Hollywood Video definitely aren't that cheap. Buying a DVD that looks good in trailers but sucks balls as a whole is a waste. So I've become addicted to renting from the Redbox. It's cheap and convenient. Plus, it holds a shit load of movies and I haven't heard of so many of the ones in there. Which means I get to try out movies and maybe find one that rocks my world or fucks my mind, in a good way mind you. I love a good mind fuck movie. I love movies that make my think and keep me guessing. I also love movies that will make me laugh. Movies with tons of explosions. Blood and gore is a plus too as long as it isn't insanely predictable. Though right now I'm really wanting to get out my Underworld 2 DVD and watch that again. I just keep forgetting. After I took LS and YB to see Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, we re-watched the first Underworld again. I fucking love those movies. Though if you watch the first one after seeing the third one, you notice a few minor errors they made but it's not a big deal really. It doesn't take away anything from the movies at all. Seriously, I want a 4th one now, lol. Are you with me? ;)

Oh and my Stars beat the Columbus Blue Jackets yesterday! I got to see most of the first period before I went to work. It went to overtime and then to a shoot out and we won! It's so hard to leave when the game is on so when it gets close to the time I need to leave, I bolt during a commercial break. Though sometimes, given game play, I leave late because a damn commercial doesn't come at the opportune time. I can't run out in the middle of play. ;)

This picture is from the game against the Vancouver Canucks on Friday the 13th. We won that one too. Yay! =) I think this is a really cool picture though.

Okay so that does it for me today. Oh one more thing! Don't forget tomorrow is Wednesday Weirdness day. The questions are supposed to be up some time in the afternoon or evening today so pop on by and play why don't ya? ;)

Oh and if you're the anonymous commenter who posed a scenario and question here, email me if you'd like an answer or some kind of response. :)

Happy Tuesday!
