Patricide and The Lion King....

A friend's older brother was recently telling me about something he had read on a website and how he agreed with it. The thing he saw:

"When Simba sang, "I just can't wait to be king", didn't Disney executives realize they were condoning patricide?"

My friend's brother went on to tell me why he agreed with that statement, why he found it disturbing some of the hidden messages Disney had in it's films and then asked if I had an opinion on patricide/Lion King issue. Well, that's like asking if an astronaut has a desire to study space. Duh, I always have an opinion. Anyway. My response and the rest of the conversation went like this:

Patricide is the act of killing one's father. When Simba was singing that song, it was in reference to when Mufasa stepped down and Simba became the rightful King of Pride Rock. He wasn't planning on killing his father to get there, he was merely singing about what would happen one day in the far off future and expressing his general excitement over that. Who wouldn't be excited about that when you're that young and don't realize how hard being a ruling King will be?

The argument was then made that even if Simba hadn't planned it or meant for his father to die, Mufasa had still been murdered and that Simba could still be put at fault for that.

False. Simba was not to blame and I'm really unsure why I associate with someone who could think that adorable little lion cub could be held accountable for the death of his father. Though he is my friend's brother and I typically just put up with his nonsense. I digress.

Simba is not at fault. Scar, Mufasa's jealous younger bother and Simba's uncle, is the one responsible for the death of Mufasa. Scar planned and orchestrated for the stampede of wildebeest to take out Mufasa. Along with the help from the trio of hyenas that were Scar's accomplices. And lets not forget, he also intended for the stampede to kill not only Mufasa but Simba as well so there would be no one left but himself to take over as King of Pride Rock. He was jealous and evil and wanted the power of being King and could only get that by both of them being dead. Also, Mufasa would have lived had Scar not thrown him over the ledge into the stampede after Mufasa had managed to escape. Given that, it would be more along the lines of fratricide instead of patricide if you want to label it so specifically.

So no, I definitely don't see any point on saying Disney was condoning patricide in the Lion King because Simba wasn't the one responsible for Mufasa's untimely death.

Also, on a more serious note, people read way too fucking much into things and need to stop. It's a Disney movie and there doesn't always need to be a deeper, darker meaning to things. If you're looking for it, you're likely going to find it just because you want it to be there.

Though, it did give me the idea to write this ridiculous post which was rather fun to do. If anyone thinks I was being particularly serious writing this, please exit my blog now and don't come back here. ;)

And no, I didn't have to Google any of the information on the movie. That's all memory right there. I also watched the Lion King about a month ago, just because I can. I love a handful of Disney movies (though typically not ones centered around a princess oddly enough) and animated films (PIXAR, BITCHES!) the way most girls dig those awful romantic comedies.

Spring, birthday, apple juice, Safe House, books, etc...

  • I'm excited for warmer weather. Ready to put the hoodies away and bust out my flip-flops. Also, I'm ready for some swimming and wakeboarding this summer. Not to mention baseball and hopefully at least one trip to a beach somewhere. Maybe for my birthday since it's on a weekend this year! :D
  • I, for some reason, randomly crave root beer from time to time. It has to be from a bottle and I only really like Maine Foot or IBC. Most grocery stores don't sell Maine Root so I only pick it up when I'm at Whole Foods or Central Market and in the mood for it. I was at Whole Foods last night and saw the root beer. I was more interested in getting some apple juice. I got some organic apple juice and some organic honeycrisp apple juice. If you've never had a honeycrisp apple, you're totally missing out, they're delicious. I have to buy organic apple juice because any kind (and trust me, I've tried tons of brands) made from a concentrate makes me have a weird reaction if I drink more than two ounces at a time.
  • I hate cotton candy. I don't like the taste, it's too sweet and even the smell makes me gag a little.
  • A nice, long shower is one of the best ways to kill a little bit of stress. It doesn't melt it all away but it does nicely at removing a layer or two. Or maybe it's all the singing I tend to do in the shower that de-stresses me. Or a combination of the shower and the rocking out. Whatever, it's awesome and I smell great afterward.
  • The boyfriend and I went and saw Safe House on Sunday evening after my brother's hockey game, lunch with the family and several hours in IKEA. Safe House wasn't bad. The plot's pretty weak but there's a ton of action in it to make up for that. All the explosions and fighting scenes were pretty awesome and kept me entertained through the whole movie.
  • I tried warm milk the other night for the first time. Guess what? It was not my favorite thing or anywhere close to it. I also didn't feel any more relaxed or ready to go to sleep. I'll be sticking to some warm tea when I get the urge for a warm beverage at night.
  • I honestly don't care what most people think of me. I care more about how I feel about myself at the end of the day than what other people think of me. I wish more people felt that way. It drives me crazy watching people drive themselves crazy trying to please other people, fit in, worrying about how other people will see them, changing their views, being afraid to speak their mind, etc etc etc. If more people worried about being happy and confident in themselves instead, they would be a lot better off. In my opinion anyway.
  • I love books more than I love most other things. I could (and do) spend hours happily reading some days. One problem I have? If I get really into a book, I speed through it and then get sad because I'm done with the book in a day or two. Some books are just so great you can't put them down!
  • I made these a few days ago. It's the first time in a long time that I've made cupcake for myself and the boyfriend and not for someone else because I was being paid to do so. I ate one and now I'm pretty much done with them, lol. So now I'm making Shane take half of them to work with him tomorrow. Which is also kind of useful for me since a good handful of my customers are his co-workers, haha. :D
And I will end this post on this note.....

Clearing out some monkey's from the attic 2...

  • I've decided I like that title for brain dump type posts. So, thanks to my friends' grandma for giving me the phrase to use. Not that she'll ever see this because she thinks the internet is stupid and a waste of time. As she says, who needs a computer when you have alcohol, good books, 500 TV channels, bingo nights, gardening, a weekly poker night and knitting? Go Granny Go.
  • I kept seeing people talking about a show called "Portlandia" and didn't think much of it. Then a few of my friends were talking about how great it is. I was bored one night and saw it on NetFlix and decided to give it a go. I was ready to call it quits after the intro. I pushed on and hoped it would get better. I usually have to finish watching something once I start it, no matter how awful it is. I don't know why, I just do. Portlandia was one of those rare exceptions to that rule. I made it 13 minutes before turning it off and it felt like so much longer than 13 minutes. It was painful to watch it for even that long. I was so annoyed for wasting that time. I could have been reading one of my books, watching a documentary, cleaning the toilet or even watching paint dry.
  • I've also realized, if most people rave about how funny something is, I'm likely not going to agree. That's not me trying to be different or anything, that's just how it works out more often than not. Bridesmaids is a prime example of that. I don't know many others who didn't like it but I thought it was fucking terrible. There wasn't one thing I laughed at in that movie. I'm so glad I don't pay to see movies ever because I would have been annoyed wasting the money and time to sit through that.
  • Something that drives me crazy at Stars games is the lack of noise people make. I mean, you're not in a fucking library and some yelling and rowdiness is quite encouraged, really. Especially if fans for the other team are trying to start a "Lets Go Red Wings" (or whatever opposing team it is) chant in your team's house. It should really go without saying that if the opposing team's fans get a chant going for their team in your building, you drown them the fuck out by being louder than they are. Show some spirit, damn!
  • Speaking of hockey, I'm totally bummed I'm not going to the game tonight. It's Steve Ott bobble head night and I really want an Otter bobble head. So if anyone gets an extra one (looking at you, married couples and other couples that live together, lol) and wants to trade it for a Ribeiro or Morrow bobble head, let me know. ;)
  • I have a cut on the bottom of my left foot that's a little under an inch long. I have no freaking idea how it got there. I rarely walk around without shoes on and I think I would remember cutting my foot open and bleeding. I have no idea where it came from or what happened but it's really annoying. I'm used to having bruises I can't explain but cuts? That's just ridiculous.
  • I hate when I'm sitting in the living room reading or writing and I look up because I feel like someone's watching me only to see my boyfriend's cat sitting there, just staring at me. It bothers me. I think, even if I weren't seriously allergic to them, I wouldn't be much of a cat person.
  • I really, really, really love gummy bears. And fruit snacks. I always have a stash of these things because I love them that much. Gummy bears are awesome. I hate gummy worms, though. Those are just weird. Unless they're the really sour ones, I can deal with those.
  • I got an invite from a friend back in December to use Pinterest. I just set it up yesterday and really have no clue what I'm doing with it yet because I didn't really look at it once I got it set up, lol. If you're on there and want to follow me, let me know. I want some people to follow. You know, once I start using it. :)
  • I've been listening to this guy's music a lot here recently. I discovered him months ago thanks to Pandora playing his cover of Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir" on my Apocalyptica station. I decided to look up more of his work. I love the violin, it's such a pretty instrument. Here's David Garrett doing "Master of Puppets" by Metallica:

Zombie Brew! Plus,,, Moneyball, Rangers & Stars!

The Boyfriend got me a few things last night, just because he's awesome and likes to get me gifts randomly for no real reason. He got me two new paperbacks I've been wanting but have yet to buy myself and a new coffee mug complete with a zombie buddy! I know some of you might be unsure of what exactly a "zombie buddy" is since I wasn't sure until last night myself, heh. So, here you go....

Adorable, right? Okay, maybe not to most people but I dig it. Cute little plushy thing and a new coffee mug to go along with two new books. Awesome stuff, for sure.

Keeping with the theme here, here's a recipe for Adult Zombie Brew. Although this won't be going in the coffee cup. ;)

1 oz. Light Rum
1 oz. Gold Rum
1 oz. Dark Rum
1 tsp. 151 Rum
1/2 oz. Apricot Brandy (Or cherry brandy)
2 oz. Orange Juice (Or papaya juice)
1 oz. Pineapple Juice
1 oz. Lime Juice
1 tsp. Sugar
1 cup Crushed Ice

In a blender, combine all ingredients except the 151 with crushed ice. Blend at a high speed until smooth and pour into a Collins glass. Float the 151 rum on top and garnish with a maraschino cherry. To make it on the rocks, add all ingredients except 151 rum into a cocktail shaker with 1/4 a cup of ice, shake well, strain into a glass with 1/2 cup or desired amount of ice. Float 151 rum on top, garnish with maraschino cherry.

I love Halloween. It's by far my favorite holiday and even though most people only celebrate it for the one day, I pretty much enjoy it all month long, haha. :D

Aside from all of that......

The Boyfriend and I went to see Moneyball last night. Not bad at all. Kind of long and a little slow to get going but still a good movie. Even if it is about one of the teams I dislike most in baseball, haha. :D That's pretty much irrelevant. Even though the movie is based off the Billy Beane and the A's story, the movie is pretty much about the way Beane changed things up. Which I won't talk much about the movie in case any of you reading want to see it but haven't yet. Definitely go see it! Unless you don't like movies about sports, being the underdog, trying something unorthodox and attempting to succeed when everyone's telling you you're wrong.

Speaking of, RANGERS ARE IN THE ALCS! Game two was supposed to be yesterday but got postponed due to all the rain Arlington saw on Saturday night. I saw a lot of people bitching about it being postponed but I was happy about it. The field was too wet. Do you really want poor playing conditions to help dictate a game? Wet field means people could slip, slide and miss plays they normally would have made because of it. I don't want that happening and am happy they postponed the game. Texas won game one and now we need to win three more to go to the World Series for the second year in a row. EXCITING! :D

Also in sports, The Boyfriend and I are going to the Stars game tonight against Pacific Division rivals, the Phoenix Coyotes. We went to the home opener Friday night against the Blackhawks, where the Stars won in spectacular, energetic fashion. They played back to back with the Hawks, facing them again Saturday night, in Chicago. Goaltending was off and most of the team didn't play well. Adam Burish looked awesome (he did miss the game Friday though since he's been working on coming back from a groin injury) and he looks great player on Fiddler's line, in my opinion. They're both speedy and I like the chemistry they seem to have going so far. I'm hoping for a good effort from the team tonight. Yay hockey being back!

Happy Monday!

Random thoughts runneth over...

With all the remakes of movies they've been doing lately, I'm dreading the day I see a trailer for the remake of The Breakfast Club. I swear, they better not ever remake that movie. It's perfect the way it is and I love it. There's really no need for it. There's also no need to be remaking old movies anyway. Hollywood needs some creativity sparking or something if the best they can do is remakes of everything and, comic book movies and blood and gore movies with more tits and ass than blood and gore. Not that I mind the comic book movies, really. Though as a comic book nerd, I tend to critique the hell out of the story lines in the movies and that tends to ruin it for me. ;)

------------------

I'm going to see one of my favorite bands in concert tonight. OPETH. Hell yeah. For those unfamiliar with their music, well, if you don't dig Swedish melodic metal, you might not like them. I however love and adore them. I've seen them once before. They're new album came out recently and I'm super excited for the show tonight. Going to concerts is one of my absolute favorite things to do. Right up there with going to hockey games and baseball games. Anyway, his voice is beautiful to me. I listen to Opeth a lot when I need to relax but they're good any time. I'm so freaking excited for tonight. :D

------------------

The Rangers beat the Tampa Bay Rays yesterday and ended that series. Rays are done for the season and the Rangers move on to the ALCS. We'll face either the Yankees or the Tigers, depending on which team wins their series. I'm excited. I love baseball and playoffs are so exciting, nerve racking, emotionally distressing and fun. I'm just so happy the Rangers made the playoffs again this year and I'll be even happier getting to watch them play in the World Series again this year. :D What? I'm optimistic. ;)

------------------

Also, THE DALLAS STARS START THEIR REGULAR SEASON ON FRIDAY! HOCKEY IS BACK! YEAH BOY! I'm excited by that, too. Obviously. I can't wait for the game on Friday. I went to two preseason games and while those are fun, they're not near as awesome as regular season is. The fun of preseason is getting to watch a lot of up and coming guys playing and watching some of the young guys progress as players. Definitely saw some guys with exciting promise during preseason and I'm sure several of them are going to do great things once they get some more experience under their feet. Another thing that I'm excited about for Friday? I get to use the awesome new camera the boyfriend got for me to take some awesome pictures during the game. If I remember to. I get to busy watching, sometimes I forget to take any pictures of the action. YAY HOCKEY!

------------------

This is still my favorite thing I've overheard in a bar:

Guy: "Stop being a vagina! Shut it!"
Girl: "Fine. Don't expect it to open once we get home though, asshole."

Seriously. I still laugh when I think about that and it happened a week ago, haha.

------------------

My boyfriend is awesome. He got me half a dozen of my favorite sugar cookies from a cookie shop at the mall I freaking love. They're the best sugar cookies I've ever had and I haven't had any in the longest time. I love that he surprises me with little things that I like instead of getting stupid little cliche things.

------------------

I really miss our dog. She died back in July so it's been a few months. I saw someone yesterday walking their dog and she looked a lot like Akasha. It made me really sad. Sometimes, I sit out in the backyard on the back porch steps with a book and wish I could just have her back there again. Sneak her a treat for no reason or something. Or I'll be laying in bed and hear the roommates dog barking or the neighbors' dogs making noise and I'll think about how she was such a good dog and never made a lot of noise unless there was a reason to. Sometimes I look out the kitchen window into the yard and think I'll see her out there running around or playing with the roommates dog or just laying out under the trees in the shade. It's weird how the mind works sometimes. It's like I forget she's dead for a few seconds and then it sinks back in. It's not that I forget really, it's just that I don't think about it. I'm kind of anxious for a new dog now but at the same time, I'm not really ready for a new pup and I know the boyfriend isn't either. Hopefully sometime soon that will change, though. I miss having a furry buddy.

------------------

Soon, my hair will be a lovely burgundy color again. :D I might even post pictures. I love having dark red hair. I might wait until after Halloween to do it, though. Depends on what I decide to do for my favorite holiday.

Happy Wednesday!

Despicable Me, Blackhawks, Gummy Bears & other stuff...

    Brain Dump Time...

  • Despicable Me is an awesome movie. It never fails to make me laugh. Also, I don't care how old I get; I will always dig cute animated films. Especially films by Pixar. Love. Love. LOVE.
  • The home opener for the Dallas Stars is October 7th. Against the Chicago Blackhawks. We have tickets in pretty good seats in the lower bowl. So excited. I'm definitely ready for some time at the AAC cheering and yelling my head off for my boys to kick some Blackhawk ass. :D Then we play again on the 8th, against the Blackhawks again. Only that game will be played in Chicago. What a way to kick off the 2011-2012 season.
  • I think I'm addicted to Yummy Earth Organic Gummy Bears. I love gummy bears as it is but those are really damn delicious. I haven't had any in 3 weeks and I've been craving them like mad lately, haha. I need help.
  • By the way; NOT EVERY NEW MOVIE THAT COMES OUT NEEDS TO BE IN 3D.
  • I love Trident Layers gum. Sweet Cherry + Island Lime might be my favorite gum ever. I hate cherry limeades (you hand squeeze thousands of limes and makes thousands of cherry limeades and see if you want to keep drinking them though honestly I never cared much for them in the first place) though so I'm happy the cherry lime combination wasn't totally ruined for me. ;)
  • I will never understand people's obsession with celebrities. I don't get why people care where they shop, who they date, what they eat, what kind of car they drive, what music they like, what they do for fun or any of that stuff. I care about those things in family, friends and my boyfriend. Or when I was single, potential guys or girls I might be dating. I get that people want to be able to relate to them in some way and think it's cool to have things in common with their favorite celeb or athlete. For me, I don't know them, won't ever know them and don't give a fuck about what goes on in their personal lives because it doesn't affect me, have anything to do with me or really even interest me. I have enough going on with myself and the people in my life, I see no reason to keep up with someone I don't even know. I just don't get it but to each their own. :)
  • I hate cotton candy. I also hate hot dogs, bacon, corn dogs, peas, pea soup and grapefruit. Okay, that's a lie. I love grapefruit but I'm allergic to it so I can't have it or anything with grapefruit juice or flavoring. That makes me sad because it's delicious. The rest of that stuff I listed, I really do hate all of that gross junk.
  • I love plaid.
  • Very little makes me happier than ice skating or rollerblading. It clears my mind and it's a lot of fun. Not to mention good exercise. I feel so centered when I have a pair of skates on my feet and I'm gliding over the ice or across pavement.

Friends With Benefits...

In celebration of me landing the cool new job I was so hoping I would get, the boyfriend took me out to dinner last night. We ended up going a couple hours later than intended because some stuff came up. No big deal. We went to a place that serves awesome smoked brisket tacos (among other things that are possibly awesome) that also has a bar with sports on so we could check out the Texas Rangers game while we ate. If you were curious, the Rangers beat the Twins 20-6. Okay, I know y'all weren't curious and some of you already knew but, I like saying it.

Anyway, after dinner and the game, we went to see a movie. We decided on seeing Friends With Benefits. Which to me just reminded me of No Strings Attached because hey, the principle is pretty much the same same. So what did I think of FWB?

I like Justin Timberlake as an actor even though I think his music is terrible, I love Mila Kunis despite the whole "her voice can get shrill and annoying" thing and I find Woody Harrelson to be an oddball and amusing as hell. So I had that going for me when going in to it.

It has it's funny moments and did make me laugh several times. I don't recall being bored during the movie ever which is something that tends to happen with me a lot during movies. I prefer doing more active things so movies tend to The dialog between the characters is entertaining. All the different characters and their relationship dynamics are amusing and there are a few parts that actually made me sad. Though, the sad parts had nothing to do with Dylan and Jamie's (Timberlake & Kunis) status and everything to do with Dylan's dad suffering from Alzheimer's which made me think of my grandfather who recently died & had Alzheimer's. And yes, I know it's only a character in a movie but it's a real disease and I've been affected by it. I digress.

In comparison to No Strings Attached, I laughed quite a bit more during Friends With Benefits. I also liked the characters in FWB more. I also found it to be a little bit less cliche and more realistic in terms of how the stages for friends who end up fucking go. I've had several of those relationships in the passed and only one of them ended well. That's another story for another day, though.

Overall, I liked the movie for the most part. I wouldn't buy it or set out to watch it again on purpose but if someone else asked me to see it again, I'd probably go with them if I weren't busy doing something else. Or fast forward a couple months to when it comes out on DVD, if someone popped it in in front of me, I wouldn't bitch and moan and beg them to turn on Sports Center. Or Discovery Channel or Phineas and Ferb.

Keep in mind when reading this, I'm not a fan of romantic comedies. Or romantic anything. I very much prefer my comedies to have very little or no romance at all in them. And most of my favorite movies have explosions, sci-fi characters or enough twisted mind fuckage to leave me contemplating shit for at least an hour after the movie has ended. I knew or at least assumed I knew going in to FWB how it would end up. And as the movie went along, I made predictions in my head because it's like every other chick flick in it's cliche predictability. I don't try to sit there and pick it apart, it just happens when what ever is going to happen seems so obvious. Which is why I don't like romantic comedies or romance-y movies in general. Though I won't get into all the reasons why I don't like chick flicks usually because there's a lot of reason. And none of them have to do with me being bitter about love and relationships. More so, I'm not a very emotional nor romantic person so I just want to laugh at the ridiculousness of most of those movies. Anyway...

As long as you go into it expecting a chick flick that's funnier than most other chick flicks and not expecting more of it than that, you're good.

Happy Tuesday!

Rocking the Harry Potter look, sort of....

These are my awesome Harry Potter style 3D glasses. I got them last night when we got to go to a special 7 pm screening of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 courtesy of my boyfriend's awesome job. He does IT work for Cinemark & gets the same perks as Cinemark Corporate employees do. So for big movies, such as HP, they do special early screenings for corporate employees.

No worries, I won't say anything about the movie other than I totally enjoyed it overall. & I kept my 3D glasses because I think they're rad, haha.

Something weird but cool is we weren't supposed to bring phones into the theater. They had security for Warner Bros standing along the walls in the theater watching for phones & recording devices. Anyone caught with one out during the movie would be thrown out & get into some trouble. Funny because as soon as they announced that, the few people who had phones out put them away immediately. And for the first time in a long time, I didn't get annoyed by someone in front of me having their phone out texting or on facebook or doing whatever during the movie. No phones going off in the middle of a scene because some jackass forgot to turn their phone on silent. No one taking a call and then rushing out of the theater. I wish theaters could more strictly enforce the rules about not having a phone out during a movie, it is annoying.

Oh, yes, I am aware that I do not pull of the Harry Potter look very well. I don't care, I look dashing, in a dorky kind of way. Also, my hair is back to black again. That's also a somewhat new hair cut I've got going on there. It's grown out a bit since I had it shortened up for the summer but I like it. Shorter and in layers is much more manageable plus feels better not to have super long hair in the Texas heat.

Happy Thursday!

Sunday run down on Tuesday...

Sunday is my only day off every week. It's also pretty much the only day I get to see and spend time with my boyfriend so we spend all day and night together doing stuff. I had a great day yesterday.

The Boyfriend and I went to see OVO by Cirque Du Soleil. The show was amazing. It was my first time seeing a Cirque show and I totally enjoyed it. Yesterday was the last day the show was in town before moving on so I was really happy we got to see it. We originally weren't going to go because the tickets are kind of expensive but The Boyfriend found out he gets discounted tickets through a website because of the company he works for. So, we got 2 tickets for a little more than what 1 cost. If the show comes to your city or a city near you, you should totally go see it. It was so good I wanted to see it again, lol.

After that, we went for a late lunch at my favorite Mexican place.

Then we went to look at furniture, kitchen stuff and etc. We weren't buying anything, just looking to get an idea of what we want and what we'll be getting first when we get our own place again. Which will happen soon if shit with our cars will stop breaking, lol.

After that, we went to check out a few things in a shopping center. Again, didn't buy anything.

Then we went to see a movie. The Boyfriend wanted to see "Drive Angry" so we did. I was hoping it would be good or that the amount of action in it would make up for it being bad but no dice. I'm seriously happy we never pay for movie tickets, lol.

After that, we went to a bar The Boyfriend wanted to check out. They have vintage video games (Pacman, Street Fighter, TRON, Galaga, etc), skee ball, giant Connect Four and Giant Jenga. The giant Jenga was totally fun.

I
t was a lot of fun and the bar's drinks were super cheap which is also awesome. We didn't play the big Connect Four game they had out on the patio but I want to some time, lol.

I got home and decided in my drunken state that we needed to get Netflix. So, we started our free trial last night and I'm pretty sure we'll keep it once the trial is over.

Monday, I got some errands done and while I was doing laundry I was watching That 70's Show through Netflix... for two and a half hours, lol. Then I had to stop and go to work. I know I'm late on the whole Netflix thing but whatever, we couldn't afford it (and yes, I know it's not expensive but still) and now we can so it's exciting to me, lol. We don't have cable or satellite so now I can watch movies I want without having to hit up a RedBox in hopes they have a movie I want to see. And I can watch the few TV shows I like, too. So, all in all it seems pretty damn cool. :D

Happy Tuesday!

Cigarettes, Inception, Cashiers, etc.

The Boyfriend is finally quitting smoking! I quit over a year ago. He's been "cutting back" and "going to quit" for some time now. He did slowly but surely cut back until he was only smoking a couple times a day. It wasn't a resolution to finally quit, either. Yesterday was his smoke cigarette free day. He seems ready and determined to quit this time. So, I hope he sticks with it. I'll enjoy getting to kiss someone without the cigarette/ashtray flavor to go along with it. :D

I watched Inception last night after work. It was the first time I had seen it. I missed it in theaters. The Boyfriend rented it from Red Box. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I need to watch it again when I'm not dead tired from spending 10 hours at work on just a few hours of sleep I think. I understood it and visually, it was wonderful. I just felt indifferently about it because I was so tired while I was watching it. So, I'll watch it again and report back. It might rock my socks off or it might be yet another movie that people rave about that I just don't enjoy. We'll see. :D

I hate when you're shopping and the cashier checking you out feels a need to comment on your purchases. I had to stop by a store last night after work to get some items. The girl looked over my purchases, raised her eyebrows and said, "Looks like you've got a fun night planned for yourself" with a snide look on her face. What did I have? New insoles for my work shoes so hopefully my feet will hurt less, two new pillows (one for the guy and one for me :D), aspirin, mouthwash, oatmeal, Special K Oats & Honey cereal, granola, Gatorade, condoms and scotch tape. Really, all of that says "fun night" to you? I suppose she meant the condoms and maybe the scotch tape if she's any kind of kinky but seriously? I hate when a cashier or other store employee makes a comment like that when I'm buying stuff. When I'm at work, I don't say "Ha, looks like you plan on having horrible breath wanting extra garlic and onions in your calzone" or "Eww, you really want that drink? Gross!" None of my business and not my place to give them a hard time about anything. Sometimes, the comments don't bother me. I suppose it's what you say along with how it's said, too. Sometimes, something perfectly harmless said in a certain tone with a certain look on some one's face can go from nothing at all to something rude and/or insulting. Not that she said anything particularly horrid, it's just the way she said it and the way she was acting. My response to her was asking, "What do you mean?" to which she replied by snickering and rolling her eyes. I don't remember what I said after that but I'm sure it was sarcastic. I was more working on controlling the urge to smack her upside the head.

If you follow my Tumblr blog, you might have noticed the mass amount of food pictures I reblogged last night. Sorry about that. I was looking for something specific to post and the ran across picture after picture of sinfully delicious looking goodness. If you don't follow it, go look but don't blame me if you end up hungry for something sweet. Really, those ice cream sandwiches looked fucking awesome. I like pictures of pretty food I think because it's like art with food in a way. It's like when I bake, I don't usually even eat most of the stuff I make. I find cooking and baking to be awesome stress relief. Albeit, working 6 nights a week, I rarely get to cook anymore but I digress. My favorite part of baking is honestly the decorating part. I've been into art since I was a little kid. I love drawing and painting and decorating pretty desserts is just another way for me to be creative and create something lovely. I just need more people around to eat the pretty stuff I make since I don't favor sweets much and The Boyfriend can only eat so much, lol. I think it would be pretty awesome to own a little cafe type thing that sold coffees, teas, juices and tons of really pretty sweets.

The Stars play the Blackhawks tonight. I'll be at work but hopefully I'll be able to have the game on. If not, I can follow along with the help of my awesome hockey buddies on Twitter. :D Speaking of, this article is awesome. Go read it. That's just one of the reasons why the Stars are awesome.

Happy Wednesday!

Life? It happens...

I watched Kick Ass last night. It was good. I don't know that I would watch it again, though, now that I know how it ends. Some movies, while they can be awesome, I don't have interest in seeing them again. Other movies, I don't mind watching them several times or over and over again.

I had a scary situation happen Wednesday night and then another sketchy situation happen Thursday afternoon. The police were involved Wednesday night because I ended up calling them out of necessity. Thursday afternoon, I was going to attempt to help someone but I realized quickly that he didn't need help and didn't have good intentions, either. Thanks to be being so cynical, having a lot of mistrust of people in general and being full of common sense, I avoided something potentially bad happening Thursday.
I don't want to go into detail about either incident to be honest but I'm okay. I usually attract strange and weird incidents or people to me. I'm not sure what it is about me but weird, random things often happen to me. Mostly? It's very rarely anything bad. It's normally amusing or just odd but non-threatening. This last week or so? Not so much. This last week or so? I haven't been venturing out of the city we live in. I very rarely spend any time in the city we actually live in because it's not the best area to be. This last week or so has been proving my theory about it being worth the little bit of driving to be in a better area to do things. I don't believe in coincidence so I don't think it's coincidence. Thanks to my being unemployed for so long, we don't live on our own anymore currently and we don't live in the best area, either. The Boyfriend and I plan to move back out to our own apartment, into a different city, as soon as we're financially able to again. Which thankfully should be able to happen in a few months. Which will be lovely. I hate where we're living now and I seriously miss having my own place.

Anyway. :)

I'm working on a post about one night stands and keeping up or not keeping up with the number of sexual partners one has. I'm also working on a post about a type of vaginal surgery I saw about on the news last night. It isn't reconstructing surgery, either. I just didn't feel like finishing either because they both ended up longer than I thought they would. All I'm going to say? I'm not letting anyone operate on my vagina unless it's necessary. I mean life and death or serious illness or health complications kind of necessary.

I know a ridiculous amount of girls that are pregnant right now. I'd say friends but none of them are friends. My boyfriend's little sister, friend's siblings, people I know due to mutual friends, etc. None of them are married or in serious relationships. None of them were planned. And none of them even live on their own or have jobs or the ability to take care of themselves, let alone a child. I'm talking 7 girls that are all 22-28. Most of them hoping people around them are going to help them take care of their babies once they're born; emotionally, financially, etc. CONDOMS AND BIRTH CONTROL PEOPLE. At least condoms if you can't afford birth control and can't get it for free. There are a lot of places you can get free condoms from. And for all the people I know? They can afford protection and just didn't use it. No one likes the way condoms feel but be responsible if you're going to have sex.

Happy Friday!

Guess what I got? :)

I got a package in the mail yesterday. My younger sister had ordered me a gift in plenty of time to get it and send it to me by my birthday June 15th. After she ordered it, it went on backorder so we had to wait. It finally came in and I got it yesterday. I've been waiting and waiting to see what my sister got for me that was so hard to get a hold of.

Awesome, eh? ;)

Any guess about what it is?

A drawstring bag and a bunch of boxes!

You win if you guessed that.

Ready to see what's in the boxes?

I know you are.....

Ok ok...........

HA!

Ok, for real this time........

*Click here to see larger images.*

If you guessed the boxes contained a flask and set of six shot glasses, you were right. Come one, no one guessed that! If you did magically guess that, you definitely didn't guess that it was a Boondock Saints flask and shot glass set. ;)

The first time I saw the movie was in 2003. I was hanging out with one of my guy friends at his apartment and we had been playing video games and drinking for a few hours. And yeah, for those who know how old I am, I was totally partaking in some illegal underage drinking. Totally not the worst thing I was doing at the time but I digress. Back on track here. We gave up on the video games after a few hours of me kicking his ass at whatever game we were playing and decided we'd watch a movie. He pulled out The Boondock Saints and asked if I had seen it. I said I hadn't and he said I had to watch it because it was one of his favorite movies. I loved it. I also love Willem Dafoe. :D And even now that it's more popular, especially due to a second one FINALLY coming out recently, I still love it. So, I was quite happy with my sister's present and totally surprised by it.

Moving on, one more thing I want to share not related to my gift from my awesome younger sister....

Fangs decided he wanted to do my hair for me. I admit, it looked crappy. I've needed a haircut really badly but haven't been able to afford one. I normally cut my own hair but my step-cousin's wife did my hair last year in several layers and my hair was still in layers. Just many inches longer than when she cut it. I didn't want to mess up the layers so I just left my hair alone. It's been so hot due to the whole summer thing my mass of super long and heavy hair has been killing me. So, Fangs did my hair for me. He cut 5 inches off the longest layer and said longest layer is now only 1.5 inches below my shoulders now. It feels so good to not have so much hair weighing me down. He also colored it for me, too. He said some stuff left over from when he last did his hair. He had purchased several different colors because he had been indecisive on what to get for himself. So he had a couple colors for me to pick from for him to do my hair. And it wasn't box stuff, he doesn't roll that way. So, I got a great hair cut and a pretty new color and my hair looks so nice again. My step-cousin's wife had done it lighter and then done two different tones of high lights in it but since my hair's grown, my natural color was there then flowed into the color/highlights and yeah... wasn't looking good. It's all good now, though. And I didn't have to pay for it but I did cook dinner for him as a thank you. Pictures of the color coming some time next week. Or maybe on Sunday. I'd say tomorrow but I already have a post scheduled. ;)

Happy Thursday!

Comments, anyone?

Rant, rant, rant...

I had originally planned to post my review of the LELO Gigi today but.... after my interview yesterday afternoon, I started feeling really crappy again. I had been feeling sick for around 2 weeks, then I felt better for a few days, then yesterday it hit me again and I started feeling like shit. I spent most of the afternoon and evening laying in bed so I didn't get my review completed. Even though I spent most of the day in bed, I didn't sleep at all. Awesome. I hope this shit doesn't get worse. NyQuil, do your best, okay? Thanks.

Speaking of the interview, it lasted for a little over an hour and a half. The other two girls that got there at the same time as me left 30 and 45 minutes before I did. I swear, if I spent that much time talking to that dude and it doesn't result in a job; I'm going to pull my hair out. That was my 4th interview in 3 days. I have 2 more today, which I will hopefully feel better for. Then I have another on Tuesday. If none of these work out, I might possibly have a nervous breakdown. Not really. I'm too strong for that. :D It's just so damn frustrating and I'm so broke. And not like other people who are "broke" but have their parents giving them money for gas, eating out, seeing movies, buying junk they don't even need, spending time with friends, etc. I have a friend who's unemployed and not even looking because between her parents and her husband, she's got her bills and other expenses covered. Yet, she always complains about being broke because them giving her money "doesn't count" because it's not "her own" money. I go to job interviews and sometimes have to have my boyfriend take me to them because it's the only way I'll get there. And then I sit at home the rest of the time bored out of my head and trying not to feel worthless because I'm not working. That's not even the half of the troubles either so don't judge based on that but that's pretty much all I'm willing to share, honestly. So, it annoys me when people whine and complain to me about how "tough" they have it when they're doing better than a lot of other people are. And it irritates me more when they don't even realize they don't have it as bad as they think they do. It makes me want to bash their heads in and open their eyes. Hell, even as shitty as stuff has been for us lately, there are still people who have it worse off than we do. So, I don't complain which is why you've not seen me blogging or tweeting about anything like that over the last several months. Though, my mom was awesome and wired me some money (my family lives in CA) for medicine and stuff last week because I couldn't afford any medicine. If you're someone online and this upsets or offends you, it was only a rant about people in my real life so don't take it personally. Though, if you do take it personally, you might want to think about why it irks you. But anyway. Sorry, didn't mean to rant there, lol.

Seriously can't believe the Blackhawks swept the Sharks yesterday for the Western Conference finals. Now the Blackhawks will be playing in the Stanley Cup Final... against either the Flyers or the Habs. I honestly expected Chicago to win it. I predicted they would do it in 5 games. Possibly 6. I didn't think they'd straight up sweep the Sharks in 4 straight games. I expected the Sharks would have a little fight in them and at least win one game. Oh well, though. Now to see who from the East is going to make it. Most people I know are on the Philly bandwagon now since they're leading the series.

I have comment moderation on right now just because of the annoying amount of spam comments from bots. Also from an annoying "anonymous" person who keeps trying to engage me in some petty online bullshit. I don't get sucked into drama very much in my real life. I'm damn sure not getting sucked into internet drama. It's just stupid. Plus, I know who it is and why they're pissed at me. If they (you) want to discuss anything, they (you) can e-mail me and act like a mature, grown, adult.

While I was laying in bed last night at some point, I was watching In & Out with the boyfriend. I hadn't watched it in a few years, though. I saw a news story on the local news that reminded me of it for some reason, so I got into my CD/DVD binder and pulled it out, happy I still had it and happy it wasn't scratched.
While I don't think the ending is all that realistic in most cases (which is sad because I would love to see the opposite be true!) I do love that movie. It's one of my absolute favorite feel-good movies.

I'm done now. I'm going to take some medicine and pass the fuck out right now. Hopefully, I'll feel better tomorrow.

Happy Monday!
Xo.

Failure..

"Without disappointment, you can't appreciate victory."

That is a quote from one of my favorite movies, Gone In 60 Seconds.

It's one of my favorite quotes in general. I love it.

Something I used to have a hard time with was not succeeding at things. I'm a very determined, ambitious individual. I succeed at most things I set my mind to. I don't say that trying to be arrogant because I'm not arrogant, it's just true. So, when I occasionally failed at something, I got annoyed with myself. I'd talk down on myself and then push myself to do better. Even over trivial things. I used to have such a difficult time with failure. I held myself to ridiculous standards and was way too hard on myself. I wanted to be better. In every way. I never felt good enough, for anything or anyone.

I've since learned that I won't always succeed at everything I attempt and that's okay. It doesn't make me weak, it doesn't make me stupid, it doesn't make me anything more or less than what I already am.

I've also learned that the quote I started this post with is so true. I always liked it but I didn't always fully understand what it meant. I do now because it's so true. Facing disappointment in life makes those victories that much sweeter when they happen.

The only way I could truly fail at something is to never try at all. At least if I don't succeed, I usually learn something about myself in the process or I learn something new about something else. At least I tried rather than being too afraid or too lazy to attempt something. I never look at things as failures anymore. Life is just experience after experience. Some are better, some are worse but they all offer the chance to gain something new. Even if it's only a perspective, a lesson learned, a funny story or something else but any of that is better than nothing and I never view it as a failure.

Happy Friday!

This and that...

If you haven't, you definitely should go check out the video for the winner of the sex toy contest that I posted yesterday. ;)

I got an invite to a Facebook group that was actually cool. Usually, my friends invite me to things I pass on. "Mustache Ride Monday", "If you hate getting food stuck in your teeth" and other nonsense stuff. Granted, I joined a few that are nonsense to most people but I don't invite anyone to them. I got a good one yesterday. "Make It Illegal to Protest at Military Funerals" is of course, a group created because of a certain group of people whose name I won't even mention. Most of y'all should know who I'm talking about. What other group of people protests funerals besides the one that won't be named? Douches.

If you don't follow me on Twitter, you're missing out. ;) So, I'm going to post a little of the random, pointless crap I tweet about right now.

AshlyStar: My tip for today: Socks go on before the shoes. Don't try it shoes first, it will not end well. You're welcome.

AshlyStar: Too bad people don't have a mute button

AshlyStar: Why are there no robots to roll around doing my laundry for me? The Jetsons were so misleading about the future.

I posted this to my Tumblr yesterday.

Click the picture to go to my Tumblr and see the bigger version of it. The angle that this photograph was taken at? Fucking awesome. Not to mention I watched the game and know the action that was going on the moment this got snapped. The player positioning and the angle just rock. Too bad that one Shark that I *really* can't fucking stand (more so than the others, lol) is in it but oh well. Still a kick ass photograph.

Law Abiding Citizen and The Blind Side (especially the The Blind Side) are two of the best movies I've seen recently. L.A.C. just because I didn't figure out everything and have the plot and ending figured out before the movie was over. I hate that. The Blind Side is just heartwarming and amazing. And a damn good movie for anyone who wants to blame the world around them for why they can't succeed as well as someone else. It's touching and quite good.

Happy Tuesday!

We'll always have each other...

Today is the last day to enter the sex toy giveaway! I forgot that yesterday was Thursday so I thought it ended yesterday. Oops, my mistake. You still have until midnight central time tonight to get in an entry. Find out how here. Come back Saturday to see who won! There will be a video. ;)

The Boyfriend rented The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus on Wednesday night. It has Heath Ledger, Colin Farrell, Jude Law and Johnny Depp. It looks weird, it is as weird as it looks and it was pretty good too. I'd totally watch it again. Then again, I love strange movies.

This is one of my favorite songs by Incubus.

I fucking love them. They're one of my absolute favorite bands.

I feel it deep within, it's just beneath the skin...

The Olympics are over which means the NHL has resumed! Yay! Last night the only game was Detroit vs Colorado. As much as I don't care for Colorado, I really wanted them to win. Detroit and Dallas were tied in points but a win would have put them over us and moved them into eighth place in the Western Conference standings. Come playoff time, the top eight teams for each conference play in the playoffs. The rest go home for the season. So since Detroit had to go and win last night, they got their two points and are now in eighth place. Nice for them. It was a pretty good game though and I'll admit, Lidstrom's goal was pretty as hell. Anyway, the Stars play LA tonight. Hopefully they win. They were on a hot streak before the Olympic break so hopefully they'll see fit to continue on with that for the rest of the season and actually make it into the playoffs. Go Stars!

I am SO FUCKING EXCITED that Alice In Wonderland comes out this weekend. I love Alice In Wonderland. It always seemed so strange and wonderful to me and has intrigued me since I was a little kid. I got excited when I found out they were making the movie. Then when I found out Tim Burton would be directing it, well that just got my metaphoric cock hard. I LOVE Tim Burton's work. The cast doesn't hurt either since one of my favorite actors is in there plus a few others that I think are pretty good. We (the boyfriend and I) rarely actually go to the movie theater to see anything. I don't like being around all the obnoxious people who insist on texting, talking and doing other things through the movie. I'm the sit down, shut up and watch the movie type. Blah blah blah. So, we rarely go and just opt to wait for it to come out on DVD. Unless it's something we both really want to see, then generally, we still wait until it's out on DVD, lol. Going to movies the night they come out? I can count on one hand how many time that's happened. And after we go see Alice on Friday, I'll still be able to count on one hand how many times that's happened. ;)

So, something that amuses me about people? Not in a really funny way that makes me smile and feel happy but in a very ironic sort of way that makes me shake my head and wonder what the fuck goes through people's minds. Of course, I don't mean all people and I don't really mean anyone in specific either. I’m just talking a general observation of something I’ve noticed over the years about a lot of people. Thankfully, I don’t know a lot of people that do this but I do know some. Anyway, if someone they don't really know or someone they don't really like does something they perceive to be wrong; they jump that person's shit over it. Or, they talk shit to other people about it or they say nothing and just seethe about it quietly. Though, if a friend of theirs comes along and does that same wrong thing or another different thing they generally perceive as wrong; they'll defend it. Find a way to justify it and make it not such a bad thing even though had it been someone they didn‘t know or like, they would have been pissed over it. I don't think in black and white terms as a general rule. I get that more often than not, there are plenty of shades of gray filling in between the black and white. However, I just don't get that way of thinking, that way of justifying and warping things around. If you perceive something is wrong, then it's fucking wrong, no matter who is doing it.

Now, I'm going to go lay in bed with the Boyfriend and watch about 10 to 15 minutes of the movie UP. Or maybe more than that but probably not. Generally when I lay in bed and I'm tired (as I am now) I don't make it longer than 10 or 15 minutes with a movie playing. I pass right out and never even make it a quarter of the way through. Though last night, we watched RocknRolla and I managed to stay awake through the whole thing and then promptly passed the fuck out once it was over. At least I made it through the whole movie though. ;)

Happy Tuesday!

Sometimes, I ramble.

I didn't watch the Super Bowl. I didn't care about the game and didn't care about the commercials. I can see the commercials online if I choose. Though honestly, I really don't care since I rarely find any commercials that amusing anyway. However, if one particularly struck your fancy or gave you a real good giggle, please feel free to mention it. I didn't care about the game because I have no preference to either team that played. While I'm a Cowboys fan (stop laughing, that's my home team after all) as far as the NFL is concerned, there are a couple other teams I like. None of which happened to be playing yesterday. Which is why, I didn't really care about who won and didn't feel like watching. Though, I couldn't avoid the tweets when I hopped on Twitter because almost everyone was tweeting about it. Which is why I was avoiding it for the most part. I did see New Orleans won so that's good for them, as a team and as a city/community.

Instead of the big game, I watched a ton of episodes of Modern Family and Family Guy. I don't watch much TV really but I love those two shows. I don't have an interest in most shows that come on otherwise. I prefer to watch things where I can learn something or sports. The Boyfriend and I are poor kids so we can only afford basic television and don't have cable or anything fancy. Which sucks because I miss Discovery Channel, NHL Channel, Food Network, Cartoon Network, History Channel and ESPN something fierce. IF you're wondering how I watch so many hockey games when we only have plain ol' TV, I have the answer to that. I either go to a friend's house, go to a sports bar or find a stream online and watch on my laptop. Fun times. I will go to great lengths to see hockey. Also, unlike the NFL, I'll watch the entire playoffs and Stanley Cup series even if Dallas isn't a part of any of it. Even if the other teams I semi like aren't in it because well, I love hockey that much. =)

My hair grows too quickly. I have a love/hate relationship with that. I love that it grows quickly because it's healthy. I hate it because it gets on my nerves, lol. I wish my step-cousins wife actually lived in Texas. I'd totally get her to do my hair again. Not because she does it for free (that is nice though) but because I don't mind her doing it. I'm crazy about who I let touch my hair. Which is why I rarely get it cut and just usually trim the ends myself at home. Which I'll probably end up doing later today since I can't afford a hair cut and I'm apprehensive about letting anyone touch my hair anyway, lol.

Something bugging me right now? I keep hearing footsteps but no one's awake and I'm damn sure not walking around typing on my laptop. If I stop and listen, they get faint as hell. If I try to ignore it, they're loud and stomping. Something is being quite annoying and should really knock it off.

Something else bugging me? I had a review and a Drink of the Day post scheduled to auto post over the weekend. Neither post ended up publishing. I checked and the dates and times were current and correct. No clue what the fuck happened. I've had this issue before but lately, it seems to be happening more frequently and it's really annoying. So Blogger, knock it the fuck off. Bitch. <3 href="http://www.amazon.com/Pixar-Short-Films-Collection-1/dp/B000V1Y44G">Pixar Short Films Collection DVD is one of my absolute favorite things to watch.

Someone asked me a random question via direct message on Twitter yesterday. I shall share it here now. =) Question was, "Do you ever watch TV/listen to music while falling asleep?" My reply to that was that yes, I do tend to listen to music to fall asleep. Which prompted the second question of, "What 3 bands are your favorite to fall asleep listening to?" My answer to that? Opeth, Incubus and Nightwish. With Opeth and Nightwish, it's because almost all of their music is so relaxing and beautiful to me. With Incubus, they're one of my absolute favorite bands and I love Brandon Boyd's (lead singer) voice.

The Boyfriend and I went to see Sherlock Holmes last night. I know, most people who wanted to see it already have and that's cool. I'm not a big fan of going to the movies. It's expensive and people are generally obnoxious and have no manners. So, I like to go when a movie is on it's way out of the theaters. I figured between the big football even last night, it being a Sunday night, being late and being a movie that's on it's way out of the theaters that it would be the perfect time to go see it. I was totally right. Only two other people were in there with is. They weren't paying attention to the movie though. If your mind went to the gutter there, you're right on track. If it didn't go there, well, it should have by now, lol. They were fairly quiet though except for a few times when they were talking, giggling or making other noises that were louder than the movie. That only happened a few times though so it wasn't really annoying. Though why in hell anyone would want to pay $17 to have a dark place to make out and fool around a little bit is beyond me. Especially when one or possibly both of them have their own apartment. They didn't actually fuck in the theater, which I know because the woman was on her cell in the restroom after the movie at the same time as I was explaining to someone quickly what they had done and what she hoped to do once they got back to his apartment. Oh and yes, she did remember to bring condoms. Good for them. =)

Happy Monday!

Favorite shirt, take 2.

I have a new header image up on my blog. I put this one together. Which I'll never do again out of those little icons. It took me far too long to find some icons that were fitting to me, lol. Fuck that bullshit. That header will stay up for a long time now since it took me so long to put together, lol. It didn't really take that long to put together. The lengthy bit of it was finding the ones I liked and that fit. Aye.

Did y'all see my post about the Incubus show and the nifty pictures from the concert that I posted? Seriously. I'm so happy we got the free "upgrade" to stand in the pit. Amazing.

I still haven't found anything to sell on Ebay or found anyone to put out on the corner to work so I can get this, lol. Anyone want to get me a super early Christmas present? ;)

We watched "30 Days Of Night" last night. I've seen it before. Though after watching it last night, I couldn't remember why I liked it though, lol.

I want some rubber boots. I'm not sure why. I wouldn't do anything with them. I want some though. Either in yellow or orange. I know, not in black, shocker. ;)

Garden gnomes are weird. I don't know what it is about them that kind of bothers me but they just seem weird to me. Though I remember when I was a little kid there was a cartoon show about a gnome named David that we used to watch and that didn't bother me at all. Only actual garden gnomes bugged me.

Happy Thursday!

I watch the world outside...

Thanks so much to everyone who read yesterday's post and left a comment or sent an e-mail in response. I always enjoy hearing what other people have to say on things. It's interesting to see how people react and think about different things. I find it interesting anyway. So thanks to those who offered up their thoughts on the issue! =o)

I'm trying to sleep... so stop pointing your camera at me... ;)

The Boyfriend and I are leaving Thursday afternoon to go out of town until Friday night. One of his good friends has a graduation that he wants us to come to so, we're heading out Thursday afternoon so we can spend the day there hanging out Thursday. Friday, early in the AM, is the graduation. Then we can hang out there a bit more before heading back home later Friday night.

We went and saw Funny People last night. It was LONG. Holy shit. It wasn't bad. Not as funny as I hope it would be but there were definitely plenty of funny and amusing parts. Very honest and good but LONG. There are a few parts they could had edited out to shorten it up and I wouldn't have missed them, lol.

Have a good day y'all!
