Oh so emotional...

First up, if you follow me on Twitter (as you should!), please note that I'm no longer Amorous Rocker on there. My name has been changed. That's the name I'll be blogging under come Monday too. Assuming I can get my blog up and running on it's own domain FINALLY. Anyway, no drink of the day post today. I'll have that up tomorrow, maybe.

Last night was the last Stars home game of the season. Their final game will be Saturday, against the Wild in Minnesota. They played the Ducks last night in their final game at home and it was an amazing game to watch.

The first goal was scored by Jamie Benn and assisted by Jere Lehtinen and Mike Modano.

Mike Modano scored with 1:47 left in the third with assists by Trevor Daley and Jamie Benn. It went to overtime and then went to a shootout. Marty Turco blocked two shots and Mike Modano and Jere Lehtinen scored shootout goals to give the Stars a 3-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks.

Marty Turco made 17 saves and another two in the shootout for the win. Last night was probably the last game Marty will play in Dallas. So sad, honestly. He's one of my absolute favorite players and it will be sad to see him go to another team. He's been our goalie for so long too. I'm happy his last game played in Dallas was a good game that resulted in a hell of a win.

It was a very emotional game. Mike Modano is expected (but hasn't confirmed anything, yet) to retire after this season. So, if he does, last night was the last game he'll play in Dallas. He's had 17 seasons as a Star. The only player on the Stars who played as a North Star and a Dallas Star. I'm 24 and he's been my favorite player since I was 9 years old. He's the reason I played hockey when I was a little kid. I loved the sport then and I thought he was amazing and wonderful back then too. He made it seem like such an awesome sport and I wanted to play. I did for a few years too. So much fun. I digress. One of the best presents my parents gave me as a little kid was an autographed Mike Modano hockey puck. That was the coolest fucking thing ever. I've since acquired plenty more autographed hockey stuff, by Modano and some of my other favorite Stars players. I think it's awesome that Mo got the goal in the game to tie it up to take it to overtime and even better than he got a goal in the shootout to help with the win over Anaheim. At one point during the game, the crowd at the AAC gave Modano a standing ovation. Actually, he got a few of those. One in particular happened and lasted for about 5 minutes, interrupting game play. Modano sat on the bench as people screamed, clapped, whistled and cheered in his honor. He had tears in is eyes, then he looked down and you could see his shoulders shaking as the camera focused on him. He had tears streaming down his face. It was such an emotional game. And yeah, I totally fucking cried too. And from what I hear, every person I know who watched or went to the game who is a fan cried or had tears in their eyes that threatened to spill over. And that's a lot of people, lol. They also showed fans who were crying or wiping tears away as they cheered for mighty Mo.

Jere Lehtinen also got a lot of cheering as did Marty Turco. They played video tributes and put up random facts all night on the jumbo screen featuring Mike Modano, Jere Lehtinen and Marty Turco. All three men got a lot of cheers, clapping and support from the crowd. And from people at home who were cheering and hollering at their television screens. (Oh yeah, you guys were doing it too! I'm looking at you, F & Z ;)) Jere Lehtinen is also expected to retire after this season as well. Turco will likely be traded. It'll be sad seeing them go.

The three Stars if the night belonged to (of course!) Marty Turco, Jere Lehtinen and Mike Modano.

As a Stars fan who grew up watching hockey and watching Modano, it will be so fucking weird not seeing #9 out there. All good things come to an end eventually though, right?

Last up, this is a picture of the best sign ever. One of my friends got a picture of this and sent it to me and now, I'm sharing it with all of you...

"ONCE A STAR ALWAYS A STAR
EXCEPT AVERY HE IS A DOUCHE"

Bwahaha. Calm down Avery/Rangers fans. I don't hate Avery. I think he's a good player, when he wants to be. I also think he's an assclown. Anyway. It's still a funny as hell/amazing sign, though. Thanks for showing it to me, friend who doesn't have a name on my blog cast yet! Lol.

Happy Friday!
