Are you skeered?

Hello! Eye see you. Tehehe. Not really. That might be either cool or insanely creepy, depending on how you look at it and how you would react. If my eyes here were watching you as you read this, it might be just a little weird. ;) Luckily, they're not watching thing.

Please remember to play Wednesday Weirdness tomorrow! I am in charge of the questions this week. We'll see what I can come up with. Hopefully something good, lol.

The TMI questions this week were really good but I am going to be skipping them. They don't float my boat and marriage isn't a subject I want to put a lot of thought in at the moment. I will be going around to see what this week's players have to say though. =)

A friend of mine and I were talking on Monday evening about different phobias we have. We got on The Phobia List and went through it. He wanted to see between the two of us, who had more phobias. I was almost certain that he would have more. I have my fair share or more than most people seem to think is okay but I know this friend has more than almost anyone I personally know. I had nothing else to do though so it was amusing enough. We started with the A's and worked our way to the end. He won listing over 30 from the list. I am going to go over the ones I have. Fun eh?

Acrophobia- Fear of heights. I am weird about this one. I get very anxious and slightly panicky when faced with heights. I love to do crazy, adventuresome things however. So I am not so scared of heights that I can't ignore it enough to work myself up to do something that involves heights. I am utterly relieved to get down but part of the fear I feel during whatever it is just kind of pumps my adrenaline that much more. Makes sense, right, lol.

Arachnophobia- Fear of spiders. I am not so scared of them that I won't kill them if I have to. I prefer someone else to deal with them though. Ick.

Aviatophobia- Fear of flying. I hate airplanes. I would rather drive if I must get somewhere but flying is just necessary sometimes.

Claustrophobia- Fear of confined spaces.

Cleisiophobia- Fear of being locked in an enclosed place. I think that is because of being claustrophobic. I am overly careful about making sure I have keys on me, making sure of other ways out of places and making sure I don't let heavy doors close like ones in big walk-in coolers.

Coulrophobia- Fear of clowns. Maybe not so much as I am afraid of them but they do creep me out quite a bit and make my skin crawl. It has absolutely nothing to do with IT either.

Gephyrophobia or Gephydrophobia or Gephysrophobia- Fear of crossing bridges. I get very anxious when crossing bridges. The worst kind are those kind that are suspended in the air very high up. The wooden and rope bridges that you still see are awful, even quickly, I don't like going anywhere near them.

Harpaxophobia- Fear of being robbed. I never at all had this fear until I was robbed at work with a gun pressed to the back of my head while another moron waved another gun around beside me. It happened a couple years ago and since then, I worry about this. Not like I used to. It doesn't hinder me from working any more. I got passed it mostly but it's always something lurking in the back of my head. Before the robbery, I was cautious and weary of it but I didn't worry about it ever.

Heliophobia- Fear of the sun. Technically I'm not afraid of the sun at all. I just don't like it, lol. =) So I don't have this phobia but I wanted my dislike of the sun to be known. =)

Hypnophobia- Fear of being hypnotized. I wouldn't be comfy being hypnotized. I would have to have a deep, invested trust in the person and know them well to ever allow someone to do it to me.

Maieusiophobia- Fear of childbirth. It's not so much childbirth that scares me. I'm sure it hurts like a bitch. I have a fear of being responsible for a little life. That is a huge responsibility and I just don't ever see myself wanting a child. I have people tell me all the time to wait until I'm older and I'll change my mind. I'm 23 now. I've had this mindset for a long, long time. I think it's more than I would be able to handle and I'm also not interested in motherhood either. There's nothing at all wrong with being a mom and I have so much respect for mother's in general. I'd go insane, lol.

Mottephobia- Fear of moths. I have no idea why. I hate them. Lol.

Pediophobia- Fear of dolls. Porcelain dolls only. I have a friend who's mother has a room in their house with tons of porcelain dolls in it. I do not like to go in that room. I feel all their little eyes watching me.

Pupaphobia - Fear of puppets. Yep. Maybe not a fear but most puppets freak me out. I'd much soon throw them in a river or something. I probably wouldn't be able to sleep in a room with puppets unless they were shut away in the room's closet.

I might have missed one or two but I got bored and started scanning over them very quickly. I'm sure I could think and just add in others that I have but this is enough and I don't care to think of any others. If I have any others. =)

I know, it's all in my head. What would a phobia be if it weren't in my head? It'd be a spider, a bridge or a porcelain doll, bwa ha ha. In time, I'll probably be able to get passed some of these things. I've actually gotten over some of my phobias in the last year or so. I would have a couple more to add to the list had I not.

If you want to share any phobias you may have, feel free to. =) I always love learning random information about people.

I like this post - very interesting! :)
I never had a fear of childbirth until I was pregnant with my oldest. I was so terrified that I was going to die during labor. SD thought it was hilarious and I was being rediculous, but I was so paranoid about it that I had nightmares. Two children later, I'm not much more fond of the idea - but since my second child now my bigger fear is the whole pregnancy. My second was hell from beginning to end!
Some dolls and stuffed animals creep me out - including porcelain ones.
I would never be hyptnotized, but I never thought of it as being a phobia. But I guess it is since the reason I won't be is because I'm too scared - I don't at all like the idea of not being in control of myself!
Cleisiophobia - who the heck isn't scared of being locked up? lol

I'm sure I have plenty of more phobia's so I'll have to go check out the list one day and post 'em. :)

Very interesting post!

We share a few phobias. Spiders, clowns, moths and dolls. Moths because I have a fear of any insect or creepy crawly.

The one for hypnosis is a good one. I had never thought of that as a phobia but I would never do it.

Great post. I enjoyed it.

That one about hypnosis strikes a chord. Its so creepy to think that if it did work (big 'if' from my pov) that they could extract any kind of information. Or make you do things. Like Harry Potter and the imperio curse!! Its unforgivable for a reason!!!!!

On another note, I'm terrified of falling backwards. I can't stand with my back to a stairwell or stand backwards on an escalator. I seriously get the shakes- which is completely unfounded.

My biggest fear/phobia is roaches or similar bugs like thos big ass honkin water bugs we have here in Texas. I'm still traumatized by the one I found in the toilet. I haven't been back in there since. God help me if something happens in the other bathroom. I'll have to head to the building next door!

I'm not afraid of heights but I am afraid to fall. So I enjoy going up and looking down on things, but not from the edge. I'm also claustrophobic, but if I'm not hot I can deal with it better. The walk-in freezer at work doesn't bother me even though it's enclosed, because the air is cold and I can breath so well, however, I can't go into my closet and shut the door. Weird, I know.

Hey, I like the new digs. :)

I never used to have the fear of crossing bridges...until about August 1st of last year. *shiver*

The clowns and the porcelain dolls are in the same family of creepy--and puppets. I completely agree with that.

It'd be interesting to see what your "Philias" are too...

Never really thought about having phobias but I'm sure I do... Wonder what it's called for a fear of snakes. LOL Deathly afraid of them - the only good snake is a dead one as Yummy's grandmother says! LMAO
