A place where I let some of the things running around my mind out to play.
Sexuality, sports, baking, random nonsense, mental health and whatever else I feel compelled to write about.
I've decided I like that title for brain dump type posts. So, thanks to my friends' grandma for giving me the phrase to use. Not that she'll ever see this because she thinks the internet is stupid and a waste of time. As she says, who needs a computer when you have alcohol, good books, 500 TV channels, bingo nights, gardening, a weekly poker night and knitting? Go Granny Go.
I kept seeing people talking about a show called "Portlandia" and didn't think much of it. Then a few of my friends were talking about how great it is. I was bored one night and saw it on NetFlix and decided to give it a go. I was ready to call it quits after the intro. I pushed on and hoped it would get better. I usually have to finish watching something once I start it, no matter how awful it is. I don't know why, I just do. Portlandia was one of those rare exceptions to that rule. I made it 13 minutes before turning it off and it felt like so much longer than 13 minutes. It was painful to watch it for even that long. I was so annoyed for wasting that time. I could have been reading one of my books, watching a documentary, cleaning the toilet or even watching paint dry.
I've also realized, if most people rave about how funny something is, I'm likely not going to agree. That's not me trying to be different or anything, that's just how it works out more often than not. Bridesmaids is a prime example of that. I don't know many others who didn't like it but I thought it was fucking terrible. There wasn't one thing I laughed at in that movie. I'm so glad I don't pay to see movies ever because I would have been annoyed wasting the money and time to sit through that.
Something that drives me crazy at Stars games is the lack of noise people make. I mean, you're not in a fucking library and some yelling and rowdiness is quite encouraged, really. Especially if fans for the other team are trying to start a "Lets Go Red Wings" (or whatever opposing team it is) chant in your team's house. It should really go without saying that if the opposing team's fans get a chant going for their team in your building, you drown them the fuck out by being louder than they are. Show some spirit, damn!
Speaking of hockey, I'm totally bummed I'm not going to the game tonight. It's Steve Ott bobble head night and I really want an Otter bobble head. So if anyone gets an extra one (looking at you, married couples and other couples that live together, lol) and wants to trade it for a Ribeiro or Morrow bobble head, let me know. ;)
I have a cut on the bottom of my left foot that's a little under an inch long. I have no freaking idea how it got there. I rarely walk around without shoes on and I think I would remember cutting my foot open and bleeding. I have no idea where it came from or what happened but it's really annoying. I'm used to having bruises I can't explain but cuts? That's just ridiculous.
I hate when I'm sitting in the living room reading or writing and I look up because I feel like someone's watching me only to see my boyfriend's cat sitting there, just staring at me. It bothers me. I think, even if I weren't seriously allergic to them, I wouldn't be much of a cat person.
I really, really, really love gummy bears. And fruit snacks. I always have a stash of these things because I love them that much. Gummy bears are awesome. I hate gummy worms, though. Those are just weird. Unless they're the really sour ones, I can deal with those.
I got an invite from a friend back in December to use Pinterest. I just set it up yesterday and really have no clue what I'm doing with it yet because I didn't really look at it once I got it set up, lol. If you're on there and want to follow me, let me know. I want some people to follow. You know, once I start using it. :)
I've been listening to this guy's music a lot here recently. I discovered him months ago thanks to Pandora playing his cover of Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir" on my Apocalyptica station. I decided to look up more of his work. I love the violin, it's such a pretty instrument. Here's David Garrett doing "Master of Puppets" by Metallica:
Rangers VS Yankees Game 4 of the ALCS was last night. Rangers won 10-3. Which puts them up 3-1 over those Yankees. One more win for my Rangers and they're going to the World Series. How fucking exciting is that?! Well, unless you're a Rangers fan, I suppose it's not incredibly spectacular. For me (and other Rangers fans) it's FUCKING GRAND. :D
Broken camera glass makes for some really badass shots.
I worked during the game so I didn't get to see much of it. I saw bits and pieces up until the last 30 minutes of the game when I finally got to focus on it. Damn work, getting in the way of my ALCS enjoyment. :p
Game 5 is at 2 PM. If the Rangers win, they'll knock out the Yankees and be in the World Series. The game will be played in NY. Winning it at home in Texas would be cooler but as long as they win, I'll be happy. It would be pretty sweet to knock NY out in NY. Of course, there's still a chance that the Yankees will make a come back. Go Rangers! :D
I got home from work last night around 11 PM. I got a shower and put in some Boy Meets World. I got Season 1 & 2 for $10 from Best Buy. The Boyfriend is working the 5 pm to 2 am shift at his job for the next couple months so I was looking for something to keep amused that didn't take much thought or effort. I always need to chill a couple hours after work to decompress. Even if I'm tired as hell, I still can't go to bed right away. It's funny watching shows I loved as a kid now that I'm an adult. I pick up on all the slight innuendos and adult humor subtly hidden in the dialog of the show. :D
I would like some book recommendations. I don't like romance or mystery books. I prefer sci-fi, fantasy, horror, sports, fiction, non-fiction, biographies, true crime and pretty much anything that isn't too fluffy. So, if you're reading a good book right now or have a favorite you love to rave about; feel free to pass along the title and author's name this way. :D
I love cupcakes, muffins, plaid, Crunch Berries, Edgar Allen Poe poetry, pomegranate lemonade, vanilla scented candles, clear lip gloss, history, knee high socks, How To Train Your Dragon, Orbit BubbleMint gum, crunchy peanut butter, penguins, Tumblr and flip flops. Among other things. ;)
If you haven't already, make sure you check out the fundraiser post here. Please and thank you! It only takes a few dollars to make a difference and help someone out. :)
I closed last night at work and have to be back by 10 AM to work a double shift. 10-3 and then 4-10. Yeehaw. Last night was mostly slow but there were some parts that were busy. One right before close. Drunk customers can be amusing and wonderful. They can also be a pain in the ass and obnoxious. So, the last part of my night was stressful and I don't stress easily. The weather has been cooling off to he mid-80's here the last few nights. Which is so much nicer than it being 90-something and humid as hell. Something that always chills me out is rolling the windows down and rocking the fuck out while I drive home. Something about the fresh air hitting me, rolling through the car, speeding down the highway with some really great metal going just flat out relaxes me. It's one of the best ways for me to de-stress when I need to. So last night, I rolled the windows down and did just that. It was a great drive home and I felt cheerful by the time I pulled into the driveway. Also, tired. So very tired, lol.
One of my awesome friends came up to my job last night to eat. He brought me steamed rice and orange chicken from a Chinese place because I've been craving orange chicken like crazy lately. Then I got busy after two bites of it and didn't get to eat the rest for a couple hours. Lucky for me, I don't mind if my food isn't steaming hot. For the most part. Some things, I can't eat if they're not warm. The orange chicken was sooo good. I got a fortune cookie with a blank fortune, though. I was so disappointed. I rarely get fortune cookies so when I do, I want to be amused or roll my eyes at whatever sage advice or fantastic prediction I'm getting. FAIL.
BOY MEETS WORLD seasons are out on DVD. I LOVE THAT SHOW. Seasons 1-3 are the ones out right now. I need to acquire all three of them. Yes, need. I don't watch a lot of TV so I don't own a lot of TV shows on DVD. I have Will & Grace, House, Big Bang Theory and some Family Guy. Now, I need some Boy Meets World. :D
My toes have been cramping lately. I'm not sure what's going on there or why it's happening. It feels really awkward when it happens, though. I wish it would stop. That would be great.
HOCKEY SEASON STARTS SOON!! I know y'all have missed reading my posts about hockey related stuff. :p Of course, I could talk about the Rangers right now but the way they have played the last few games hasn't made me want to write anything on them, lol. I hope they get their groove back soon. Oh and people should stop injuring themselves. That, would be all kinds of fantastic.
I know these random posts where I just ramble about shit don't get a lot of comments but I don't care. I love doing these posts. I write my blog for me and just get happy that other people happen to, at times, enjoy my rambling. These posts are great for me because I can just ramble about boring stuff on my mind and get it out there so I can stop having it float around in my head space taking up valuable room that other things are waiting to take over. :p
I should definitely be sleeping since I have to be up for work in 6 hours. Why am I still awake? I was exhausted earlier and now I'm just feeling a bit wired. Ah well. I'm sure once I lay down and put on some Opeth I'll be lulled right into a nice sleep. Hopefully. Opeth is great "lulled to sleep" music for me, though. Depending on the album. :)
Golden raspberries are so fucking yummy. I wish you could get them all year long.
I'm happy about something. I'm giving the Ella from yesterday's review away to a good home. No, I'm not having a contest. I already have it worked out who she's going to. Hopefully the lady who is getting Ella will enjoy it more than I did. =)
The blog title has nothing to do with the post. It's a lyric from a song by Papa Roach that I have stuck in my had. Won't you be sad if you clicked here to read something sexy. No matter. There's enough smut on the web, far better than what I'd write anyway. Yuh. Though, I'm totally posting the video now. Uh, don't watch it while you're at work. There's some language and some people getting whipped and some other stuff. There's your warning.
I love going to the post office early in the morning because almost no one else is there. No rude ass people, aside from the ones that work there, to deal with. No long lines. No listening to kids screaming. No gaggle of people all chirping into their phones about various things while standing in line. It's nice, quiet and you're done in minutes. Kick. Ass.
One of my best friends pestered me for weeks to watch the show Modern Family. I ignored her because honestly, I don't watch a lot of TV because I think most of the shit that comes on is crap. Though, I never watch any of it so I don't have much to go off of aside from my general disinterest in TV. I finally gave in and watched an episode to shut her up because she agreed to stop pestering me about it if I'd watch one episode. She loves the show and knowing me as well as she does, somehow knew I would totally dig it if I'd just watch. I figure she watches a hundred shows and never tries to get me into any of them because she knows me and knows I wouldn't really like most of them anyway. She was right. I love that show.
Now, a short little question session. Got a question you want to ask me? Leave it in the comments or send me an email.
Could you handle living together with the last person who sent you a text message? The last text I got was from my boyfriend. I live with him already and we have yet to kill each other. So, yes.
Do you think you could be with someone for over four years? Actually... The Boyfriend and I will be celebrating the 4 year anniversary in May. (Oh my gosh. HOLY FUCK!)
Does anything on your body hurt? My lower back and my right thigh.
Do you prefer pudding or ice cream? Ice cream, definitely.
You're thinking about zombies right now, aren't you? Nope. Not even after reading this question. You can't break the concentration I got going on, fools.
At what age do you want to have your first child? Never. I don't want kids.
Do you usually tell people when you’re mad at them? Yes. I've got a bad temper so it's not too hard to tell.
Would you live with someone without marrying them? I already do.
Has someone ever called you at midnight on your birthday? Every year. =)
When was the last time you had an alcoholic beverage? Friday night. Beer and Jack and Coke.
Are you a patient person? Not so much but I've gotten better!
Do you like your music loud or at a reasonable level? LOUD!
Ckearly I skipped HNT today. I didn't intend on playing while on my trip. I probably won't play next week either. Which is nice honestly. I'm having such a great time. =)
Last night we went to some friends house to watch the 2 hour demolition derby MythBusters and then just hung out a while. I LOVE MythBusters. It's one of the shows I like to try to watch. I love a lot of the shows that come on Discovery though. I'll take those over sitcoms, dramas and reality shows any day. ;)
Then we went to one of mt favorite places where I effing adore the bartender/manager. He's so cool. When I get a rum and coke, it's a glass of rum with a small splash of coke. Yum. I do hate shooting pool after not having done it for.... 5 months. Eek! I sucked. I wasn't trying very hard either but it was damn fun. Then we left there around 1 AM.
Went to Boyfriend's. Had amazing sex that left me feeling dazed. Then we watched "Yes Man" because we had rented it earlier from the snazzy RedBox. Boyfriend had now been introduced to the wonders of RedBox. ;) "Yes Man" was interesting, funny too, kinda weird as well. Not bad though.
Now I'm writing this quick little thing while Boyfriend's cat tries to eat my foot. He's not succeeding. Then we're heading to my aunt's house to visit for the day/evening. Should be fun. Then Friday will be fun. Saturday we go to see Nickelback and SEETHER! Mmmm I love me some Shawn Morgan y'all. I do have a Saturday Survey already set to post as well. Someone actually emailed and asked if I'd have one this week or not, lol. Awww. Thank you faithful SS person. *grin*
That's enough for me. I need to get moving in the general direction that has me leaving for the almost two hour drive to my aunts.
Have a great night/day/whatever time you're reading this! ;)
That is one of my favorite lines out of the movie Batman Begins. Of course, I had heard something similar long before the movie was thought up. Just sayin', the line and the scene it happens in are among my favorites in the movie. I love the movie too because hey, I love just about anything that has to do with Batman. Not to mention I think Christopher Nolan rocks.
One of my favorite ways to relax after work is to watch a movie. I don't care for much that comes on television. I'm a House freak. I love CSI. I find other shows entertaining but I don't try to keep up with much. I'd rather watch sports or a movie. I get home from work between midnight and 2 am, so there isn't much in sports for me to watch. Unless I have a Stars game from the night recorded on the DVR because I missed it earlier because of that job thing. So generally, I prefer to watch a movie after work to relax. Or at least part of one I've seen before if I'm not going to be able to stay awake for it all, lol. I like my job for the most part. I like most of my managers for the most part too. It's my co-workers and the customers that irritate me. I can't stand how petty, immature, two-faced, gossipy, self-entitled, over-inflated and ignorant my co-workers are for the most part. The customers, it's about half and half with. Some days better, some days worse. You just have to try and not let people get to you too much. I used to get so annoyed, so much more easily than I do now. I learned not to let people piss on my parade and make my day more shitty. They can only do that if I allow them to influence me so. Most days I remember that and don't let people get to me. Some days, I slip. Thankfully, I always remember later. After I'm done slamming things around and venting my anger through actions and noises. ;)
Anyway.... My Stars play tonight! I'll be at work though. I always wear a Stars tshirt (I have 4 or 5 different ones, lol) under my work shirt on game nights I have to be at work. I'm not sure why I do that either. I just started doing it. The night I started doing it, they lost. I still do it anyway. Recently, we've done pretty badass. I'm talking weeks, not the last couple games, lol. Hopefully they do well in the game tonight. GO STARS!
I haven't had much internet here in the last few days. The weather has been terribly crappy. Lots of strong wings, cold, rain, ice, snow and all that fun shit. We have wireless. It doesn't like to keep a signal for long. I actually wrote this post out in MS Word and then when the internet was working for a few minutes, hopped on and set it to auto post. While I miss reading the blogs and being able to respond to the emails I have stacking up (I'll get to them as I can =D) what sucks more is not being able to check on the couple games I play on-line and not being able to get on NHL.com, lol. I'm lame, I know this and I'm fine with it. My games I play are interactive games so my characters on them need tending to on a regular basis. I'm missing doing that, lol. I'm not your hardcore total OMG I'M HAVING WITHDRAWALS type gamer but I'm semi-addicted to the couple I do play. Which reminds me. I LOVE the Nintendo DS Lite that Boyfriend got me for That Holiday. I knew I loved those things already. Youngest Brother has an original DS and I loved playing that thing. My issue is, especially with the Guitar Hero game, is that I sit down to play it for half and hour and then I'm playing for an hour or longer. I say I'll play one more song and then five songs later, I put it down. I'll clear one more level on this game and then I'll be done. Then six levels later, I'll finally put it down. I get sucked into that shit and end up playing for longer than I intend to, lol. I want some of those Brain games too. I love doing things like those and I already know I'll get stuck on them too. It's the same with books. My biggest problem with books is I go through them too fast. I'll say I'm going to stop for the day at the ending of chapter five and then by chapter twelve, I finally put the book down. Usually because I have something else I actually have to do, not because I'm tired of reading, lol. I get lost in things I really enjoy. I don't mind. Sometimes, it's annoying though since I know I could have gotten something more productive done. It doesn't bother me or effect me negatively enough to change it though so I'm good.
Oh you know what pisses me off? When you're watching a movie and the DVD/BluRay player just fucking flakes out and the movie freezes. You can try all the ways you're supposed to to make it work, to make it go but nothing. Wait, wait, wait. Troubleshoot this, troubleshoot that. You're restarting your damn movie, all over from the beginning. That little power light blinks right off as you're resetting it and it's totally mocking you. Simple little human, slave to the electronic devices. You push the buttons but who ends up frustrated when it doesn't work right or when it malfunctions? Yuh, we do. Of course, I don't believe the BluRay player we have has any emotions or feelings but it sounds all dramatic like to make it seem like there's a bigger plan in the scheme of things other than the simple fact that there was some kind of lame malfunction in the hardware. C'mon now. =)
That's enough rambling for today. I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. =)
