They were protesting premarital sex and homosexuality outside of a high school in Oregon. Lately, they're targeting the Oregon/Vancouver area. Half of dozen or so of these protesters from this "church" were met by a much larger group of people that showed up to protest them. Half a dozen or so of them versus 200+ people countering their protest. HELL FUCKING YES.
I couldn't find a way to embed this video on my blog but click the link and go watch it.
I couldn't help but smile as I watched that video and saw all of those people showing up to counter protest against those clowns. The West people ended up leaving after a short time ending their protest early. Maybe because they were seriously out numbered? Perhaps.
Those people are ridiculous. I don't care if they want to believe the way they do, that's fine and all on them but the way they get their messages out and try to shove it down people's throats? Not cool. I don't have to agree with what they believe anymore than they have to believe what I do and that's fine. I'm all for diversity and I'm cool with multiple points of view on things. I don't expect the world to agree on everything. I think their methods are pathetic, though. They're nothing more than a hate group, in my opinion. They can call what they're doing whatever they want but their method is hateful and doesn't do anything to help the cause they think they're working towards.
What are y'alls thoughts?
Happy Friday!!!!!!!

Wow!! Awesome! i cant stand that "Christian" group *sigh*
i am really interested to see the supreme court hear the case with the marine's father.
i am all for standing up for your beliefs, and if that means protesting? Then do it. However, doing it with so much hate, and doing it during a time when a family is grieving and hurting... is completely wrong in my opinion.
i would love to go down there and protest their church... :) just for fun!
The fuckers threatened to protest at Ronnie James Dio's funeral, too, but didn't show up (probably because thousands of metal fans would have beaten the living crap out of them). Bastards. I can't think of a more hateful group of "people" (and I use the term VERY loosely).

Definitely in agreement with you on this!
Have a nice weekend.
They are dumbass for even trying to protest in that neighborhood let alone that school! First off, Portland has a HUGE gay and lesbian population with a good number living and raising kids in that neighborhood.
Second, they targeted a school where the chances the students were there protesting against it with their parents is pretty damn high.
And lastly, they are always driven away in Portland. It's like an IQ test they keep failing over and over and over again. And I thought the fact they were standing there with those signs was enough but this just affirms things.
Can you tell where I live? Lol! :)
if only we could have a world without conflict (but I think that would be a world without humans).
I can't stand WBC people either. What they WANT is attention. Fuck them. Let them get the attention from their God when THEY catch on fire...we sure as fuck ain't gonna help them out. ;)
I am surprised to see a lack of comments from your readers! With so many people in the sex blogging community, one would think they would have comment on this. I suppose since there's no drama to it, it doesn't attract the masses. ;)
RIGHT ON! Hooray for every person who showed up in protest of the WBC! Those people are dispicable. I agree with Master's Shaper's kitten completely! Stand up for what you believe in! Do it in a way that isn't hateful and hurtful.
Also I agree with The Panserbjorne. I think the reason they didn't show up to Dio's funeral as they had stated they would was because they knew they would not be received well. Not that they are ever received well but I imagine angering a group of metal heads would result in some violence. A group of mourners that huge and emotional? SURELY it would not have ended well.
I like the idea of protesting the WBC! We should form a group to travel and do a rally against them. Prejudice pricks.
Love the video! Fantastic post. Thank you for sharing.
We should stand up against hate. I applaud the pro-school people.
As to what might happen with the Supreme Court on the Marine's father's suit, I worry about it. This is the court that ruled for eminent domain for commercial purposes; giving corporations free speech rights; turning the Miranda clause upside down.
The Panserbjorne:
I saw where they were planning to do that! I was so mad over that, too. I'm glad they didn't. Protesting at anyone's funeral is just ridiculous and petty.

While I appreciate what you're saying, there's really no need for that first paragraph. It seems like you're just trying to stir the pot and cause drama over nothing. It's a good post and it doesn't need any people fighting amongst themselves in the comments. I don't care if I get a lot of of comments or not. I just hope a lot of people actually read this and watched the video. Drama does get a higher response, always, but that's not what I'm looking for here sir/ma'am. As for the rest, hell yes and thanks so much for reading and commenting! :D
Everyone else:
Thanks for reading and commenting! Right on. :D I appreciate y'all! :)
The ultra religious, or really ultra anything, groups in the world really burn me up inside. There is absolutely ZERO reason for anyone to try to tell another person how to live their lives. For anyone that even reads/has read the Bible, the ultimate gift that was given to the people by God was "freewill". The power to choose is a divine gift according to CHRISTIAN fact.
I don't pretend to be a religious person, but I have done my time searching for something to reach me on a spiritual level (with minimal success), but I believe the 2 most important teachings that most people conveniently forget about are the following:
Jesus said "Let he who has not sinned cast the first stone" and "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you."
Religious or not, I believe these are 2 excellent rules to live my life by. There is no reason for all of this hatred nonsense being spit out at others by people who call themselves spiritual. It's sickening and wrong, and I believe will ultimately leave them unfulfilled.
I do admit openly that my first paragraph was a stab at the general community but not you. If you felt I was stabbing you please do not take it that way. I do not lump you in with that group of bloggers. In genereal, things that cause drama promote more feedback because people love good drama. This post is more worthy than some of that garbage but yet not getting the same reaction when it should be getting more! How wonderful it is to see a large group of people standing up to this group!! What if MORE of this happened? IT SHOULD! I do admit that I honestly was trying to stir the pot but only in hopes it would draw more people in. As I stated, drama gets people interested. MORE PEOPLE NEED TO SEE THIS. MORE PEOPLE NEED TO STAND UP AND AGAINST PEOPLE LIKE WBC. YOU CANNOT STOP HATE BY TOLERATING IT AND TURNING THE OTHER CHEEK!
I do apologize! I love your blog. I am highly appreciative that you conducted yourself in a mature and respectful manner instead of being snarky and insulting in response to my comment. Kudos.
Fuck those fucking fuckers.
My Grandfather I lost too soon. I still have the flag that draped his casket. Don't these morons get that the only reason they can hold their little bullshit prostest is because of a soldier that fought for their freedom of speech. If they think it's so bad, by all means, PLEASE leave America and start your own country on some tiny speck of land in the middle of the ocean.
Sometimes, ignorance IS NOT Bliss. It's just ignorance.

i know i will be in minority here but i think protesting them for their beliefs is just as bad as what they do too. i dont agree with westboro church and i think what they do is wrong on a lot of levels but protesting them is just bad as what they do bc youre doing the same thing, protesting someone against what they believe is right.

I wrote a post about these assholes a few months ago. They're a hate group, plain and simple.
I agree w/ Kendra.
Good for those people who showed up to counter protest the WBC!!! More people need to show up and counter protest those hateful assholes.
PROTESTING THE WBC IS NOT JUST AS BAD AS WHAT THEY ARE DOING.
Protesting them shows them not everyone will tolerate their ridiculous, shameful, hateful antics.
GOOD TO EVERY SINGLE PERSON THAT SHOWED UP to protest that "church" and what they stand for.
There are better ways to get your message accross and make a point w/out being HATEFUL and that is all those people are.
I have no problem with people marching and protesting and shit but these folks are just hateful and want to harm others. It would do them some good for people at the military funerals to beat the hell out of them.
It seems to be a no win sometimes though because people like them just want the attention so giving it to them, even when obviously in the right, seems to rev them up.
The world will never have too few idiots.
The westboro clown school should be shutdown I know in America you have freedom of speech but here in England hate preaching organizations are banned.
What you need to do is take them to the Lincoln memorial and bull whip them back into reality if they believe in Jesus they shouldn't be should not be such hate mongerers. I've never quite understood why people who say they are god fearing are intolerant losers.
America you should in my honest opinion picket their headquarters 24/7 till they shut up shop and give up on such vile behavior. I saw a docu over here in England made by louis Theroux I was disgusted and shocked. Get rid of the westboro clown school and I'll love America just that bit more.
That's your mission are you willing to accept it ??????
Tim: I was raised in a very conservative Christian home and just wanted to point out that a lot of people take the scriptures out of context and use them as an argument against Christianity as you did. The first stone quote you gave is supposed to be a reminder that nobody lives up to God's standards and we have no right to be accusing and criticising other people when there's so much blame in our own lives. It's a verse meant to make you introspective, not necessarily to use against other people :) Same idea with the second verse you quoted.
Andrew Deighton: WBC is NOT a Christian organization even though they may have given themselves that name. Unfortunately they are protected under our Constitution provided they aren't infringing on other peoples' same rights. I would argue that my liberty and pursuit of happiness are hampered by their hate speech but it would never stand up in court. Please just don't believe that all Christians are like that; people like WBC cast a really bad light on true God-fearing people.
